The Stranger

I start to panic and quickly ran out of the room. "Robbie?" I called throwing open the door. "Robbie!" I ran from the room and started to panic slightly. "This isn't funny."

"What's not funny?" Standing on the spiral staircase was a kid no older then me with thick black hair and had on a nice shirt and khaki shorts. However it was only his voice that made me turn around. The accent was nothing like I heard before. I'd lived in Ireland my whole life, and had heard my fair share of accents; this one was completely different. I must have been caught staring because the male smiled. "I take it you're one of Mark's friends, but who's Robbie?"

I took a few deep breaths and looked at the stranger. "Robbie's my friend. He was right behind me when I..." I turned to look back to the door but it was gone.

The male laughed as he walked down the stairs and over to me. I took another breath to keep myself form stammering when I spoke. "I don't know who you are, or where I am.  I'm very confused."

The stranger just nodded, "that happens sometimes, try not to worry about it". He took my arm and started leading me upstairs. I quickly pulled my hand back.

"What the hell is going on?" There was too much adrenaline in my situation, I knew I was going into panic mode.

The stranger only laughed but kept walking upstairs, leaving me to follow but was shaking the whole time. He lead me up to a bedroom where he told me to wait.

I was going to look around but was stopped when I heard conversation. One of the people was the stranger, the other had a clearly American accent.

American accent guy, "I don't know why you think I have time from your rambling, I don't".

"Please Mark" the weird stranger said, "this guy just showed up. I mean really I saw him walk out of your dad's..."

"For the last time," the one named mark hissed "no one goes in or out of that room, okay? Okay." He sighed at it and seemed like he was going to walk away, only for the other to stop him.

"He's in my room, just look."

"William," Mark hissed. "I have a date this afternoon. Just wait for your mom, or better yet talk to the chef."

I felt horrible for eavesdropping, but I was also still shaking. Something was telling me I needed to leave the house. Now. From the volume of the people, now turning into a full blown argument, I knew they were close. If I tried to run I would only end up between them and that was out of the question. The need to flee grew and now it was way beyond my ability to think clearly. Maybe if I hid I could make a run for it if they left? It wouldn't be a good plan but it was all I had.

I found a closest on the other side of the room. I ran inside but was not met by a closet, rather by the dark tunnel and Robbie.

"Marvin, you look pale are you..."

I looked up at him and he stopped. "Let's go back upstairs" I said. We made our way up the ladder and into the guestroom. We were rolling the carpet over the trap door when Robbie's uncle walked in.

Our attention snapped to him as he looked around the room. He seemed to stair at me for a long while, "After dinner, I think you boys and I need to have a talk."
