Six - Taunting, Like Cat And Mouse

The library looked a lot less dramatic during a busy school day, you decided. There were groups of students chatting and studying together around the sturdy tables in the middle of the room and instead of dim lamps was the place illuminated by bright, natural sunlight.

It bugged you, that you were back here already after one day only, after you had spent so much time with ignoring the problem named "Jimin".

But you couldn't deny it anymore - something had to be done, and you simply knew too little about the whole situation to do anything. Hence why you were currently striding towards the tired looking librarian, who's interest was solely concentrated on the steaming cup of coffee clutched in her hands.

"Excuse me." You cleared your throat, making the middle aged lady look up idly, "Could you please tell me where I can find Mr. Kim?"

"Who?"

"Kim Namjoon."

The librarian smiled confused, "I don't know anyone with that name, are you sure you got the right one?"

Do you think I'm stupid?, was what you wanted to say, but your dad didn't raise no impolite brat, so you smiled and nodded, "Yes. But it doesn't matter, I'm sure I can help myself." You didn't need to talk to Mr. Kim, if you couldn't find him. Any other teacher would do as well, after all.

"Alright, if you say so." The woman waved dismissively.

"Oh, Y/N!" You turned around alarmed, seeing Ryujin walk towards you with a box full of old DVDs, "Can you help me with those real quick?"

"No, Ryu, I really don't have time right now-"

"Ahh, it's no trouble really, just bring them to the physics room." She beamed widely, promptly pressing the box into your arms, "Thank you so much, you're always so helpful."

"I din't say yes." You grunted dryly, unable to just drop the box and leave her with it nonetheless. Research could wait for now.

"Thank youuu!"

"Shut up."

Ryujin laughed, watching you leave the library with a gloomy look.

___

The ghost's eyes shot open when she set foot into the corridor - prompt disappointment making it's way into him.

Has he really waited all this time outside the library just to loose her to one of her little friends? It's not like he was burning up to spent alone time together, but how else was he supposed to get to know her as quickly as possible?

Jimin noticed the huge box she was carrying a little too late. "Huh?" Intrigued, he followed the two girls.

"Oi, what are you carrying?" He floated above the two girl's heads, peeking into the package - just a bunch of dusty DVDs, hell these existed even to his times.

Of course, the girl didn't answer, having become a pro at acting as if there wasn't a ghost talking to her concerningly fast.

The other girl, the one with the short, blond hair, was carrying nothing on the other hand, besides a single, silver key, chatting happily and acting as if Y/N wasn't actively ignoring her as well. Poor girl, Jimin really related to her in this one.

As much as Jimin tried to overplay it, it really sucked - of all the sensing kids that could've stumbled into his bathroom, it had to be such an oddball.

Most girls would've been freaked out of their minds, naturally so, a reaction Jimin was prepared for and knew how to use to his advantage.

But this deep, absolute disinterest Y/N was showing off, was making his job so much harder.

"Leave that box for a second, I wanna talk with you." The ghost urged annoyed, small frown tugging his lips downwards as the girl kept on walking, unimpressed by his nagging and penetrating flying-through-her-friend. How on earth was she so good at ignoring him??

"Hey, girlie, listen!" He waved in front of her face, having her promptly walk through him very rudely.

Heavens, what was he supposed to do with her. She was starting to really irritate him. But what was he supposed to do? He hadn't found a sensing kid in what? 10 years?? He couldn't let this chance slip through his fingers.

Which just meant that he'd have to try harder to get her to make an agreement with him.

Having given up, Jimin opted to just follow the girls for now, watching how blondie unlocked an old storage room for Y/N to enter and place the box of DVDs inside.

He grinned impishly, "That's it? Did she just make you run her errand?"

At THAT she scowled.

Ha, gottcha.

"Thankyouthankyouthankyou," Blondie babbled, "See, that way we were done way faster!"

"You literally contributed nothing to this."

"I unlocked the room for you."

"Right, just what would I have done without you?" Y/N's voice was dripping with sarcasm, it almost pained Jimin to hear.

"Aren't we a pushover today?" He crooned next to her ear as blondie was walking off.

Once the other girl was out of sight, Y/N finally allowed herself to react to the ghost, waving around where Jimin's face was floating, "My GOD you're such a pain in the ass. And don't call me a pushover cause' of something like that."

"But it's true?" The ghost shrugged grinning, finding her opposing actions very interesting - on the one hand did she willingly helped her friend without second guessing, on the other hand did she seem to be deeply pissed because of it.

"She caught me off guard."

"Sure, whatever you say." He leaned in again, once her hand was out of his face, watching her flinch away as usual - Jimin found pleasure in haunting her in the most obnoxious ways possible. Tickling reactions out of people usually tells you a lot more about their nature than when their guard is up.

"Someone really needs to teach you about personal space." She grumbled, shouldering her back pack as break was over, students hurrying to their respective classrooms.

"Don't be silly, I can't even physically touch you." Jimin giggled, waving it off like it was the most ridiculous accusation he'd ever heard. The topic, though he hadn't thought about it in a long while, sparked his interested anyway, making him grin, "Would you want me to?"

"God, no. This is like, the last thing I'd want." She looked genuinely terrified at the prospect, but Jimin wasn't one to take others by the words they speak out loud.

It could work; Teenage girls are always seeking for physical proximity, at least that's what he understood after having spent so much time in a school packed with touch-starved adolescents.

"Hmm, I think I have an idea how we could make this work." He followed close by as she just turned around to walk away, ignoring the fact that he was getting ignored again, "Wouldn't that be great? We could play tag, hold hands, hug each other good bye when you leave for the cemetery again..."

"What?"

"Hm?"

"What cemetery?"

"The one you always visit after school? Even before school sometimes."

She stopped, turning around to him with an alarmed expression, "Can you- you can't leave the school, right? I've never seen you outside of school..."

Jimin cocked his head to the side, small amused smile playing around his lips at her sudden panic, "No, why?"

"How do you know I'm going there?"

He giggled, "I don't.  Just had a feeling since you seem to have such a hang to the dead."

Her defensive reaction was interesting.

Instead of giving Jimin any insight, she turned back again, marching towards her classroom where the ghost knew by now she wouldn't be paying attention to anything being said.

"Hey, wait! What are you doing at a cemetery? Visiting your grandparents? Tell me!"

As usual, the ghost didn't get any reaction other than cold silence, but hey he had a lead now and a possibly very rewarding idea to get under her skin -  and if that wasn't a step closer to his exemption then he didn't know what was.

___

I used the term 'sensing' for someone who can see ghosts and it felt a little cheesy but at the same time I kinda like it lol
