(Sonia's POV)

Me and Chip watched as (Y/N) walked away. I wanted to stop him, but I couldn't think of anything that I could say to try to help (Y/N).

Chip: Sonia? Is (Y/N) going to be okay?

Sonia: ...I hope so.

I looked over at the temple and nodded my head. As much as I want to help (Y/N), me and Chip need to restore a Chaos Emerald and part of the planet. After me and Chip are done here, I'm going straight for (Y/N). Me and Chip started to walk towards the temple. Chip was walking ahead of me until he stopped to look at the temple. I stopped and looked back at Chip.

Sonia: What's wrong, buddy?

Chip: Huh? Oh, right. I'm just... Scared.

Sonia: Scared?

I looked around and at the temple, not seeing anything out of the ordinary or cause for alarm.

Sonia: It's just another old temple. It doesn't look like there's anyone around, either.

Chip: That's... That's not what I mean. That's not... N-Never mind. I'm fine. Let's go!

Chip started to walk ahead of me to go into the temple first. Now I'm concerned for him too. I walked into the temple and followed Chip as we headed for the alter in the middle. I noticed this weird mural on the back wall of the alter. Chip walked up to the alter and made it light up, making it raise slightly. I took out a Chaos Emerald as I walked up to the alter. I saw Chip start to fly up to get a closer look at the mural. I put the Chaos Emerald on the alter and soon after started to glow. I watched as the emerald gained back a purple color and started to float up into the air. I looked back to see Chip touch the mural, making it glow.

Chip: Whoa!

He was surprised and flew back a bit. He suddenly started to get pulled towards the mural and went inside of it. I reached my hand out to try and grab him, but he was already inside.

Sonia: What just happened?

Soon after, Chip came back out of the mural and looked at me.

Chip: Sonia. I remember now. All of it.

The ground started to shake, meaning that the piece of the planet is going back to where it should be. The ground eventually stopped shaking.

Sonia: You remember everything?

Chip: Yes. I do.

Sonia: Well, let's get going and you can tell me what you remember.

(Time Skip)

Me and Chip returned to the village that we landed at when we arrived at Adabat and we couldn't find (Y/N) on the way. I asked Tails to see if she saw him anywhere and she said she hasn't. Me and Chip looked around and we found (Y/N). He's sitting at a wooden dock, staring into the sunset. Me and Chip walked up to him and sat down next to him.

(Y/N): ...

He didn't say anything. I looked at his face and... It didn't convey much emotion. I didn't know what to say or do as the only sound was the sound of nearby waves. I put one arm around (Y/N), hugging him.

Sonia: ...Hey... How you holding up?

(Y/N): ...I don't want to talk about it right now. I just want to get my mind off it, even if for a second. Can we just talk about something else?

Sonia: I see... Well Chip managed to regain his memories.

(Y/N) looked over at Chip.

(Y/N): Really?

Chip nodded his head and stood up, looking out into the ocean.

Chip: My real name is Light Gaia. I draw power from the day and light, and guide the planet to its rebirth. My job was to protect the planet from Dark Gaia.

Me and (Y/N) stared at Chip. So that's why he was able to activate the alters at the Gaia Temples. He was made for them. Chip turned to look at me and (Y/N).

Chip: But Eggman broke the world apart himself, and Dark Gaia and I were awakened before we should've been. That's why Dark Gaia broke apart, and I didn't know who I was. I didn't remember what I was supposed to do. All because this isn't the proper time of awakening.

(Y/N): Time of awakening?

Chip: Dark Gaia grows over millions of years, then rises to destroy the world. And I put it all back together. We've been doing this over and over, again and again. Since the very beginning of time.

Sonia: So you've been asleep for millions of years?

Chip looked back at me and nodded his head.

Chip: Yes. For ages and ages.

The sun completely set at this point, making purple flames cover my body. I flinched a bit from the pain, but I've gotten used to it at this point. The flames disappeared, making me in my Werehog form. I looked at Chip.

Sonia: I'll bet it's thanks to you. Even at night, when I'm like this. I'm still myself. Not like all the other people we've seen. You must have been protecting me this whole time.

Chip shook his head.

Chip: I haven't done anything, Sonia. You're the reason you haven't changed at all. You're too strong to lose yourself.

Sonia: I'm the reason?

Chip: Yeah! You never doubt yourself, no matter what. You never give in to the night, or to the darkness inside your heart. I think it's because I knew that about you. That's why I wanted you to help me.

Chip started to fly and got in front of me and (Y/N).

Chip: It's been so fun! Getting to see the world with you two. I've lived here since the planet began, but I didn't know a thing about it. That it's so pretty, or that the food tastes so good, or that so many people are so nice! I'm so glad I got the chance to discover all of that with you. And I'm so glad that you helped me find my memory.

Chip flew up to (Y/N) and grabbed his hand.

Chip: (Y/N). I know that you are hurting so much right now, but don't forget that you are much stronger than that. That you aren't alone anymore, no matter where on the planet you might go to.

(Y/N) looked down at the floor, giving Chip's words a lot of thought. Chip let go of his hand and looked at me.

Chip: Sonia. I will never, ever forget you.

I got a bit confused. Why is Chip saying all of that like we aren't going to see each other again?

Chip: Thank you all. Goodbye, my friends.

Chip looked down before flying away.

Sonia: Hey!

I reached my arm out and made it stretch as long as I could. I managed to grab Chip by the back of his shirt and pulled him back to me and (Y/N).

Sonia: Where do you think you're off to all by yourself?

Chip: What... But... My memory is back now, and... Well, from here on out, it's my responsibility, so, um... I mean, there's no reason for you guys to come along, so I should just...

Sonia: Do we need a reason to want to help out a friend?

(Y/N): This is our world too, so it's only normal we help it get back to normal.

Chip put his hands together and nodded his head.

Chip: Thanks, you two.

Sonia: Now how about we get a move on? We only need to restore one more Chaos Emerald.

Chip nodded his head and started to fly forward, heading over to where Tails is. I saw (Y/N) get up and was about to follow Chip, but I stopped him by putting my hand on his shoulder.

(Y/N): Sonia?

Sonia: You can take a break if you want. I don't want you to push yourself too hard.

(Y/N): Oh... I'll be fine. Just need to do anything to get my mind off things is all.

He looked forward and started to walk ahead. If there wasn't the need to restore the planet, I would've stopped him so we could have a long conversation about what he learned about his family.

(Time Skip)

Me, (Y/N), Chip, are all riding the Tornado 1 as Tails is piloting it to get us to the final piece of the planet that isn't restored. It was daytime when we arrived, but the sky was covered in these dark red clouds, so it was hard to tell.

Chip: Whoa, what's with this place?

I looked down and around, seeing that this place seems to have mostly been taken over by Eggman.

Tails: Doesn't look like there's a safe place to land.

Sonia: It should be fine. Once we restore this final piece, running out of here will be no problem.

Tails nodded her head as me, (Y/N), and Chip all jumped off the Tornado 1 and landed on the metallic ground. We all managed to land on our feet. I looked ahead and saw a huge gate with the shape of Eggman's face with a large light up sign reading "EGGMANLAND" above it.

(Y/N): No way he actually did it...

A speaker system came on and we can hear Eggman's voice come out of it, although it's most likely a prerecorded message.

Eggman: Oh ho ho ho! Welcome to Eggmanland, the brainchild of my heart and soul!

A hatch opened up and a giant golden statue of Eggman got raised up out of the opening.

Eggman: This is my magnificent empire, made possible through my genius and the limitless energy harnessed from Dark Gaia!

I put my hands on my hips.

(Y/N): This is what he wanted to make with Chaos?

Chip: Wha-Whoa! This place is crazy!

Sonia: I'll never understand Eggman's tastes.

Chip took out his camera and took a picture in front of him. He turned over to me.

Chip: Get a good shot!

I took the camera from Chip as Chip flew up in front of the Eggman statue and mimicked the pose it was in. I made sure the camera focused as I took a picture.

Eggman: Surprised? Yes, of course you are! Sonia! If you have any complaints, come deliver them to me in person. If you can, that is!

I just let out a sigh and started to walk forward, handing Chip the camera back. Eggman started to laugh so much that he started to choke and the recording stopped.

Sonia: Ugh. He's enjoying this way too much.

Chip: Sonia! (Y/N)!

Me and (Y/N) looked over and saw Chip standing on top of the Eggman statue's head taking a few pictures.

Chip: I can feel the last temple nearby! He must have built this place on top of it!

Sonia: Well, I guess we'll just have to tear it down!

I looked ahead and saw (Y/N) walking towards the entrance, getting ahead of me and Chip.

(Y/N): Don't worry Eggman, I'll make sure to give you my complaints personally.

He said to himself. Is that why he wanted to show up here? To get back at Eggman for hiring his family against him?

Sonia: (Y/N)... Please don't do anything reckless.

I said to myself. I know that's rich coming from me, but I don't want (Y/N) hurting himself over something like this. (Y/N) turned on his shoes and dashed forward, entering Eggman's specially made theme park. Me and Chip started to go forward too, catching up with (Y/N) as we made our way to the final temple.
