01 │ CAMELOT

ELIZABETH TOOK A DEEP breath as she looked outside her window of her carriage. She looked at the sun that bounced off the white horses that carried her carriage. Her eyes watched closely as the trees cleared up, showing the tall walls of Camelot. She would have been happy to see her childhood friend Arthur, but not in the circumstances she was in now...

Elizabeth's face reflected her fiery hair. How come such woman had thought of this. She should be allowed to marry who she wanted. It was, after all, the man who she will spend her life with; and the man who will rule her kingdom. She was tired of this customs and rules that women were thought as less.

Elizabeth's hands opened the throne room where her father was held in. Her shoes clicked on the tile floor where her father was talking to his most trusted guards, including Leur. Elizabeth had a deathly look that Leur and her father knew too well. The same look when she beat the living hell out of a boy who was being mean to another girl. Her mother was outrageous at her action because for her, and the rest of the world's standard, a princess should never fight with her fist. Her father however, was beyond proud of her.

But this look did not come from some annoying ignorant kid, no, it came from her mother's proposal. "Dear, what's wrong?" Her father asked softly as he saw her furious state.

Leur looked at her princess with cautiousness. The princess straighten her posture before letting the words flow out of her mouth. "Father, mom has made a pack to wed me with a king. This is on berable. It's not her who she will be spending time with a man who she does not love. And I know father, I know the rules and how I don't have a say on this, blah, blah! You promised me I would have a say on this." The princess said, looking at her father whose eyes harden at the news that had been told to him by his own daughter.

Leur looked at the princess in confusion. "Do you know who the man is?" He asked her calmly, knowing that the girl was in the verge of snapping. She was a calm, smart, tough and wise princess. She had patience, but when it came to wed her: her patience runned low.

"She would not say. I will not marry this way, over my dead body." The princess told her father.

Her father looked down at her and sighed as he motioned his guards to leave. Before Leur could step out of the throne room, the king called out for him. "Leur, you may stay." He told the knight. Leur nodded and walked back to where the two Royal highness were. "Who told you that?" Her father asked as he sat on his throne.

Elizabeth sighed, looking at her father. "Mother told me that. She would not say who will I marry, only it was already assigned. She mad a deal with a king already and it's signed and everything. Dad, I'm serious. She wouldn't tell me who the prince is, just that it will make our kingdom more powerful." She said as she held back the desperate tears. "You know I can't marry a man who is not only a coward but who denies magic." She added, looking at her father.

Leur looked at both of them and nodded towards Elizabeth. "I don't want to intrude, but she has a point sir. If they found out about her gift, she will be end up in the steak or worst, hanged." Leur told his King. He knew about Elizabeth's gift for years now.

"We will see what o can do to.." He started but was caught off by his wife who had entered. Her dark hair was held on a gig bun behind her head. With the dress she wore, Elizabeth thought she looked even more like a snake.

"If you are talking about wedding our daughter to the next king of the one of the most powerful kingdoms, afar for ours, then I believe it will not work. The deal is sealed and signed." Queen Rowanda told her husband.

"Mom, you don't have the right too.." Elizabeth started, but Rowanda caught her off.

"I do have the right young lady. I'm not only your mother, but your queen." Rowanda told her daughter her icy eyes piercing at her.

"Don't you dare use the Queen card of me. Queen is just a status given by society. An army of women United will still take you down because you don't have power what so ever, it's just an status." Elizabeth snapped at her mother. Anybody that heard this, who they didn't knew her, will think she was a weird young woman who was crazy.

The king sighed before putting his hands up. "Look, Rowanda, you at least have to tell her who she is going to marry." The man told his wife.

She straighten her dress and looked at her daughter. "You are going to marry Arthur. Prince Arthur from Camelot." Rowanda told her. Elizabeth looked at her mother in confusion while her father's loud laugh echoed through the halls of the castle. "Erik, stop laughing. I'm serious." The woman scowled at her husband.

"You must be kidding then. Arthur PenDragon? The boy who she used to play swords with and always won?"  Erik asked his wife, smiling lightly at the news.

"Yes, it's him. I believed it was better than somebody who she does not know. At least I know she will be in good hands. Plus, people know about her and how she is the only one who will take over your throne of something happens to you, Erik." The woman said, smiling at her daughter. "Uther is specting you in a few weeks. You will leave at the end of this week. Leur will go with you along with your most trusted guards. The decision has been made and there is no changing it." Rowanda told her daughter who was glaring at her.

"You can't let this happen dad!" Elizabeth told her father. "You have to do something." She begged her father.

"I will talk to Uther myself. Do not worry." Erik told her daughter. Elizabeth groaned before leaving the throne room with Leur on her heels.

Leur, her personal guard who she confided almost everything, look at her as her eyes wondered off to the castle who she meet her future husband. He knew about the fight that felt among the two females of the Hellions family. He knew the pain the girl was in now. She had no choice what so ever, but that did not meant she will not try to up with something against it. It has been a week since her fight with her mother, and now it was her time to arrive to Camelot. Lear approached her, looking at her with curiosity. "So, what do you have planned to ruin the wedding? Or are you going to plan something before the wedding?" Leur asked her with amusement in his voice.

The princess smiled at her knight, and shrugged. "I'm not sure yet. I might even fight for my own hand if there were a tournament. It is a Uther type of thing. Then Arthur might win, and blah blah, blah: I'm married. I will just be used and looked as a trophy, pathetic if you ask me." Elizabeth told Leur. She looked down at her hands. "It sucks being a princess." She mumbled, rolling her eyes.

Leur chuckled at her words. "I might be the only one who will agree with you in the trophy part. I will not like to disrectect the Queen, but...she did handed you to Uther like an object. That's low coming from her." Leur joked, earning a smile from the young princess.

The carriged parked inside the main doors of the castle. Leur opened the door for her as the Camelot knights approached them. "Who might you be?" One knight asked as Elizabeth decended the stairs with ease. Leur took out the paper which held the loyal crest of the Hellions.

"I'm princess Elizabeth Hellion and I'm here to visit King Arthur. King Uther has been specting us." Elizabeth told him as she took out her gloves.

Elizabeth was about to take another step, but her path was blocked by a guard. Leur took a strong hold of his sword. Elizabeth smiled kindly at him. "As I said before Your king and prince have been waiting for my arrival. Now, will you please step away so that I could carry on with my duties?" Elizabeth said softly, feeling the eyes of the other guards on her. Elizabeth rolled her eyes before taking a step sideways so that she could walk around the guard. The guard stepped in front of her again and pointed his sword at her.

Leur took his sword out, pointing at the man who had his on Elizabeth's throat. "Fine then." Elizabeth said before taking a step away from the knight and kicking him in the back of the knee cap. She took the sword from his hands and turned around to stop a sword coming her way. Elizabeth swiftly fought the other guard and took the sword away from him as well. The other guard who had watched how his two partners had been defeated put down his sword as well. "Will you please get Author PeDragon here. I come in peace." Elizabeth said before she watched as the guard ran away inside the castle. Leur watched as the other guard was about to stand up to attack Elizabeth. Leur put his boot on his chest and his sword on his throat.

"Try anything on her, and I will cut your throat right here. Understood?" Leur asked him, pushing his sword closer to his throat. The guard nodded at Leur.

A loud cough bought the attention of both partners. Elizabeth looked at the raven hair that she knew too well. "Good afternoon, Morgana. Long time not see." Elizabeth said, smiling at the woman in front of her.

Morgana returned the smile, and nodded towards the guards. "Let them in Eugene," She told to the one closest to the door. Morgana looked at the guards that were on the floor unamused.

Elizabeth threw the sword back at the two guard. "Keep your feet separate, it will give you more stability." Elizabeth told the guards has she approached Morgana. Leur glared at them before following the two women.

Morgana wrapped a hand over Elizabeth. "You look beautiful. I hope they did not caused any damaged." Morgana told her, looking for any injures on Elizabeth's body.

Elizabeth laughed softly at her words. "I'm fine. Nothing I have not faced before." Elizabeth said as they both walked to the throne room.

"You never seemed to amaze me. It was funny to see their confused faces once you took them out." Morgana said as she opened the door to the throne rooms. "I took the liberty to call Uther since I heard the whispering of somebody trying to break into Camelot." Morgana said, holding back a laugh.

"Me, breaking into my childhood home? Oh, that is funny." Elizabeth joked as she stepped into the throne room. All the eyes landed on Elizabeth as she stepped further in the throne room. "Good afternoon my King," Elizabeth said dowling down to the egoistical king of Camelot.

"I hope you did harmed yourself at entering the castle. I apologize for my knights mistakes." Uther told the princess that was standing in front of her. Elizabeth shrugged, nodding at Leur.

She knew Uther was a ruthless king, specially when it came to magic; which was the reason why she asked Leur to stay with her in case something happened. "They were just doing their job. At least you know they will not betray you." Elizabeth told him as she smiled at the knights around them.

Elizabeth mouth opened, but nothing came out as she heard the grown voice of her future husband. "Father, I am here. What did you want to show me?" Arthur Pendragon asked as he entered the throne room. He stopped right on his tracks when he saw the fiery red hair that was in the middle of the room. Merlin collided with him as he did not spected him to stop all of sudden. Elizabeth turned around to see the confused face of Arthur, who tried to hide his confusion with a kind smile. "Father, I did not known we had guest." Arthur said, sending a look towards his father which Elizabeth knew too well. "I'm prince Arthur of Camelot." He said, taking my hand to kiss.

I held back a laugh as he did this. "Well, at least you have not lost your manners Arthur. Your hair has gone lighter though." She told him as he stood up confused. "I can't believe you are this confused. Do you still have a brain in that thick skull of yours?" She joked, causing Morgana to giggle.

"Oh, it seems that his skull is thicker than before." Morgana joked back.

Leur coughed, getting everyone's attention. "May I present, Elizabeth Hellions of the further kingdoms of the north." Leur said.

Realization crossed Arthur's face. Elizabeth threw herself in his arms as she hugged her best friend since childhood; the only boy who could stand her witty comments and tough attitude. "Liz?" He asked as he hugged Elizabeth back.

Elizabeth pulled away, smiling at him. "The one and only." Elizabeth said, smiling brightly at the prince of Camelot.

Arthur laughed, pulled her into a tight hug. Merlin was in amusement as the two exchanged quiet words. He also wondered about their story together. They seemed close, but not love partner close. No, it was brotherly close. "You look beautiful. You have also grown, and here I thought you will stop being taller than me." Arthur joked, earning a smack on his harm by Elizabeth.

"You are still taller than me. I just hope you still have a good hang on that sword of yours." Elizabeth told him, pointing at his sword.

"Oh, I do." Arthur told her, faking anger. Merlin had never seen Arthur let his guard down for anybody, not even for his father or Leon. He was beyond amused that it was in fact a women who had broken his walls down. Merlin was oblivious to the fact that they both new each other since they were born. There was a reason why Rowanda was so eager for her little girl to meet prince Arthur, she had her planned of wedding them both for a long time.

"Your belongings will be in your room by sundown. I believe Arthur's helper can carry all your things." Uther told Elizabeth. Uther glared at Merlin who nodded at Elizabeth.

Elizabeth gave him a kind smile. "I'm Elizabeth, what's your name?" Elizabeth asked stepping in front of him so that he could not leave. Merlin looked at Arthurt, who shrugged. "Oh, you don't need to ask Arthur for approval. I promise, I do no bite. He does not own you. So, what's your name?" Elizabeth told her confused at the nervous stare that Merlin was given her.

"It's a costume of Elizabeth and her family to get to know the people of the castle. She is being nice." Leur told Merlin as he saw his confused state.

"Oh, his name does not matter. Just call him servant." Uther joked, causing the three of them to turn around.

Arthur was about to speak, but Elizabeth was quicker. "Why does it not matter? I believe everyone matter and a true king should agree with this. If it were not for the hard work of them, you will be a mess fixing everything yourself. Plus, show a little kindness from time to time. It does not hurt anybody." Elizabeth told Uther over her shoulder before turning back to Arthur's servant. She took his hand and his and shook it.

"His name is Merlin." Arthur said, patting him roughly on the back, causing Merlin to stiffen. "Tear your eyes away from her or I will rip them off myself." Arthur whispered to Merlin before turning back at his best girl friend. To the ones who did not known, or could not get inside Arthur's head, he did loved Elizabeth has a sister and nothing more. He wanted to protect her, hence the threat to Merlin. "Right this way." Arthur told her, motioned them to follow him.

Elizabeth followed Arthur and Merlin through the halls with Leur by her side. "What have you been up to lately? Sword fighting like usual? Found a girl I could embarrass you with?" Elizabeth asked, nudging Arthur.

Arthur rolled her eyes at her words. "No girl, just yet. Sword fighting like usual, and being the prince I am." Arthur told her. He opened the door for her, and she entered. She gave Arthur and Merlin a thankful smile. "I will let yourself settle, if you need anything just tell the servants or the knights." Arthur added.

"Oh, Arthur...your knights need more training. I took down two when I was entering since they you know, put a sword at my throat, and did not believed I was actually here visiting you." Elizabeth explained to him. "They should keep their feet separate to have more stability." Elizabeth explained as she walked towards the window, looking at the life of Camelot. "Can I speak to your privately?" Elizabeth asked Arthur. He nodded and motioned Merlin to leave.

"I will be outside, my lady." Leur told her before closing the door after him.

Elizabeth sighed, running her fingers through her hair. "Did you father told you about the deal he made with my mom, and why I am here?" Elizabeth asked him, keeping her eyes outside the window.

Arthur shrugged, leaning in one of the pillars of Elizabeth's bed. "No, why do you ask?" Arthur asked her, crossing his over his shoulder.

Elizabeth looked at Arthur from over her shoulder. "Well...my mom signed a dealed with your dad in which we will marry. Apparently they had everything planned for years." Elizabeth told him.

Arthur's eyes darted from the floor, to Elizabeth. "What?" Arthur said, looking at her with an amused look. "You and me...as...wait..." Arthur stuttered, trying to make his brain understand Elizabeth's words.

"Exactly as you heard." Elizabeth added as she nodded at Arthur.

"This can not happen. I mean, it is almost like marrying a sister." Arthur said to her, standing up straight right now.

"Exactly, that is what I told my mom. Father is now trying to figure out a plan to avoid this. She did it behind his back as well. I mean, she is a snake after all." Elizabeth said, annoyance clear on her voice. Arthur walked around the room as Elizabeth looked at him with worried eyes. She sighed, walking towards the bag that Leur carried. She took a piece of paper out of it, and showed it to him. Arthur opened it up, reading clearfully each later. "I wanted to marry for love, not for the throne. Here I thought I will be the lucky girl to marry for love, but seeing the circustances I am in I do not believe I will be the lucky girl anymore. I mean, what is it with us, women, being treated as trophies." Elizabeth snapped, walking around the room as her face turned as red as her hair. "And you know what my mother said?" Elizabeth asked as she saw Arthur approach the table in the room.

He put the paper down on the table, and leaned over it to read it. "What did your mother say?" Arthur asked, looking at Elizabeth instead of the piece of paper.

Elizabeth lean on the table too, glaring at the piece of paper. "She said that I least I was lucky enough to marry somebody who I knew, and was friends with. My father even thought it was a joke." Elizabeth told Arthur.

"What was a joke, me wedding at all or me wedding you?" Arthur joked, hoping it will ease her never. He put a supporting hand on his shoulder. "We got time, and we will figure something out. Worst case scenario, we get married; but at least I am marrying your right." Arthur joked, causing Elizabeth to roll her eyes. He cracked a small smile for her. "You are not wedding that other prince I punched on the face years ago. What was his name?"

Elizabeth laughed at the memory. "Richard, I believe that was his name." Elizabeth told him.

"He had made your cry because he was being mean towards you and had pulled your hair as well." Arthur remined her, chuckling at the memory. Arthur patted Elizabeth's shoulder. "We will figure it out. We always do." Arthur told her, smiling at her.
