Violet Corcoran smiles as she walks down the hallway in McKinley High School. Oh, you thought she was still a Berry? No, no, no.

You see, after Shelby adopted Beth, she reached out to Violet, and offered to get Violet's legal surname changed from Berry to Corcoran. Shelby said it was an apology of sorts for everything Violet had went through the previous year.

Anyways, Violet was trying to find her boyfriend, Kurt Hummel, and couldn't find him anywhere. She turned the corner just in time to see Kurt getting slusheed while being interviewed by the school's biggest pervert, Jacob Ben Israel.

Jacob sees Violet and runs over to her. "Violet, how do you feel about the assumptions that you are just a cheap imitation of Rachel Berry?" He asks.

"I deny those accusations. Whatever happened between Rachel and I is over. I'm no longer her family, and I couldn't be happier." Violet says. She sees Jacob's eyes wandering to her chest area. "Hey, perv. My eyes are up here." She sneers.

When Jacob leaves, she waits for Kurt to come out. When he does, he smiles as he comes up to her. "Hey there gorgeous." He winks.

Violet giggles. "Hey yourself hot stuff." She flirts before he kisses her. "C'mon, Mr. Shue wants us in the choir room for our first glee club meeting of the year." She says.

Kurt smiles and takes her hand. "Let's not disappoint."

Will sighs as he holds a piece of paper. "These are comments from Jacob Ben Israel's most recent Glee Club blog. 'Glee is a giant ball of suck.'"

"I'm pretty sure he wrote that one himself." Violet mumbles.

Kurt sighs as he holds Violet's hand. "We get it, Mr. Shue. Everyone still hates us. So what? So we're plankton on the high school food chain? Only difference now is that none of us really care."

Mercedes nods. "Kurt's right. We're a family. They can bring it all they want. None of it is going to break us."

"Okay, I'm really happy that you guys have all bonded. The problem is that all of this negative stuff is keeping other students from auditioning." Will says.

"Good. Why do we need new members?" Tina asks.

"Well, since Matt transferred, we only have 12 members, and if we want to go to Nationals, if we want to beat Vocal Adrenaline, we have to go from a small rebel force to a giant wall of sound." Will explains.

Violet frowns when Will reminds her that Matt transferred. That was a sad day.

Rachel gets up and stands next to Will. "Yeah, Mr. Schuester's right, you guys. You didn't see Vocal Adrenaline at Regionals. They were epic. We're going to need more voices in order to beat them."

Finn smirks. "Yeah. I'm with Rachel on this one."

"Gross." Brittany says.

Will nods. "You're going to have to trust me on this, guys. Now, here's the plan. Nationals are in New York this year, and we are going." He announces. "Now let's go out there and show the school how cool it's going to be, how cool we can be. If they're not going to come to us, let's go to them. They say we only sing show tunes and '80s pop. Let's show them how down we are. Let's give them the song of the year, New Directions! style." He says.

The New Directions perform "Empire State of Mind" in the courtyard but the rest of the school is unimpressed except for Sunshine Corazon, Charlie Dean and Sam Evans, who taps his feet in the rhythm.

Violet walks up to Charlie's locker, tapping his shoulder. Charlie jumps but relaxes when he sees Violet. "You can't scare me like that." He scolds.

Violet smiles innocently. "You scare so easily though." She says.

Charlie chuckles. "Yeah, yeah. So what's up?" He asks.

"You should audition for glee club. We need more members this year." Violet says.

"And what makes you think I'll audition?" Charlie questions.

Violet smirks. "Because I'm your best friend and you don't want to let people down when they need you." She answers.

Charlie sighs and smiles at her again. "Fine, I'll audition. But I'm picking my own song." He says.

Violet smiles. "Deal. Auditions are in the choir room from 3 to 5 today. I better see you there."

Charlie laughs as she starts walking away.

"Don't worry, I'll be there."

Violet walks towards Kurt with a smile. He, in turn, smiles back. "You look happier than earlier today." He says.

Violet smiles. "Well I may or may not have convinced Charlie to audition for New Directions." She says.

Kurt smiles. Charlie is one of Violet's good friends. "Were you nice about it?" He teases.

Violet feigns hurt by placing her hand over her heart. "Baby you know I'm nice... to most people." She says.

Kurt laughs and kisses her cheek.

"God, I love you so much."

The New Directions are in the choir room, waiting for people to come in and audition.

"Well, hate to break it to you, but it doesn't look like anyone's gonna be joining us, so I think we should just call it a day." Rachel says.

Will shakes his head. "We said 3:00 to 5:00. It's only 4:58."

Violet sees that most of the New Directions gets up to leave.

Finn tries to stop them. "Just wait. My buddy Sam's gonna try out. He totally idolizes me."

Kurt rolls his eyes. "Oh, face it, Finn. You're no longer the quarterback. You're not the Pied Piper anymore. No one's gonna follow you around thinking everything you do is cool." He says.

Violet nearly forgot that Finn got kicked off the football team.

Mercedes looks at Rachel. "What about that Sunshine girl? I thought you said she could sing."

Rachel shrugs. "I guess she didn't want to hang out with us losers."

Violet was about to say something when Charlie came running in the choir room. "Hey. Am I late? Are auditions over?" He asks.

Will smiles. "No. You're more than welcome to audition." He says.

New Directions sit down and look at the boy. Violet gives him an encouraging smile.

"My name is Charlie Dean, and I'll be performing a classic." Charlie says after handing the band his sheet music.

The opening chords of 'Mirrors' by Justin Timberlake plays and Charlie begins to sing.

When Charlie finishes, everyone's cheering loudly.

Violet smiles as she walks up and hugs him. "You were great!"

Will smiles and claps Charlie on the back. "Charlie, welcome to New Directions!"

Charlie smiles.

"That was fun."

Violet was in the choir room the next day with Will, Rachel, Tina and Mike. Sunshine Corazon, who Rachel had convinced to audition yesterday, was sent to a crack house instead.

Will sighs. "Tell me this isn't true, Rachel."

Tina looks at Rachel angrily. "She could have died."

"I didn't send her to an active crack house. Besides, how did you guys find out anyways?" Rachel asks.

"The Asian community is very tight." Mike says.

"I was told by Mike and Tina this morning." Violet answers.

Will shakes his head. "I just don't get it. You're better than this."

Tina scoffs. "No, she's an ambitious little freak who will do anything to hold on to her power."

"She's not better than this, Mr. Shue. Remember when I got disowned?" Violet asks. No one says a thing while Rachel tries to justify her actions.

"I just... I...I love you guys so much. I was wrong before. I don't want any new members. I didn't want anyone coming in and-and messing up our group dynamic. Tina, Violet, Mike, I mean, what if Sunshine can dance? Then your contributions to Glee will be even more insignificant than they already are now. I did this for you guys." Rachel says.

"If Sunshine can dance, then we will gladly welcome her to dance with us. Since Matt transferred, Mike's the only guy that knows how to dance professionally. Brittany, Tina and I made an agreement with Mike: we all take turns dancing with him if the situation ever arises. You're still just as selfish as you were last year." Violet rambles.

Will looks at Rachel in disappointment. "Whatever your motivations, you need to make this right, Rachel."

Finn, Sam and Charlie are in the men's locker room. Finn is confused why Sam didn't audition.

"Hey, man, uh, why didn't you show at the audition?" Finn asks the blonde.

Sam sighs. "I wanted to, I did, but after what Coach Beiste did to you... Do you know how everybody talks about you Glee guys?"

Finn nods. "Oh, yeah, you get used to all that."

"Finn, I'm, I'm the new guy. That means I'm already on the outside looking in. I don't want to start off three touchdowns behind. I got to go. Coach Beiste makes us do a hundred push-ups for every minute we're late, so..." Sam trails off and chuckles.

Finn smiles. "Yeah, you made the team, that's cool. Uh, what position?"

"Quarterback." Sam answers.

Finn looks dejected but he looks over to Charlie, who hasn't said anything yet. "So why did you audition?" He asks.

Charlie smiles. "Well Violet said you guys needed more members, and I think I could have a lot of fun in there." He says.

Finn nods. "Well we're glad to have you man."

Charlie smiles.

"I appreciate it."

Violet smiles as she and Kurt arrive to the house. "Hey. Thanks for not getting jealous about Charlie joining." She thanks.

Kurt smiles. "He's your friend; I'm not going to get jealous over someone you're friends with. Besides... I have more faith in you to think someone's going to try and steal you away from me." He says.

Violet smiles. "I love you." She says.

Kurt smiles.

"I love you more."
