Epilogue

Epilogue.

The sun dipped below the horizon and thin, wispy clouds sheared it and the multicoloured sky to shreds. Their outlines glowed, soaking up the sun's warmth and offering a dazzling display of luminance and colour.

The sound of giggling toddlers was the music that accompanied the sight. I watched the two blond children - twins - tumbling across the the grassy parkland.

"Hey," the voice that rang out from behind me was too well-known. It still made my heart race, the way he said my name, "Rin."

There was a hand, a fleeting touch, like a butterfly, on my right shoulder. Reflexively, I turned to my right, and there was nobody there, and then I turned to my left, surprised as a pair of soft, warm lips met my mouth.

I knew the taste well. It always left me feeling secure and had the subtle and distinct flavour of bananas.

"Len," I broke away and looked up at him. He was as handsome as ever, with most of his blond hair tied back into that cute ponytail, the rest being bangs that fell over his eyes.

"Hey," he repeated, looking over at the toddlers, "Aren't they tired yet?"

I giggled, sounding like the schoolgirl I was when I met Len, "They're like us. We used to be like that, you know."

"Hmm," Len tousled my hair, which I still wore as short blond locks, "We're not old yet, you know. Still under twenty-five."

He walked around the bench I was sitting on and took a seat beside me. He was holding a rolled up newspaper in one hand, looking at me before waving it in my face.

"Check it out," he said, unrolling it and flipping a few pages before stopping, "The pop idol couple's about to go on another world tour, and this time they're having a dinner party for their friends. That includes us."

I took the newspaper and looked at the black and white photograph of the couple. They were smiling, but Len and I both knew that those smiles were their 'public' smiles. We had seen the real ones.

"Free food," I mused, "Sounds like something Meiko would like."

Len laughed. "Neru's going to drag Oliver along, and he's going to end up bringing Haku..."

Oliver and Neru had been dating for years, and they still hadn't married. We didn't know what was holding them back, but it was pretty clear that they loved each other. Haku was still a teacher, except now, Oliver had become her teaching assistant.

Kaito and Miku had their wedding a few days after Len proposed to me a few years ago, but their engagement was pretty interesting. Kaito had taken Miku to an ice cream shop for a date and he requested that the ring he had bought be mushed into Miku's leek ice cream scoop. Len and I had come along, and we knew that he was planning to ask her. It was all pretty exciting.

(this is supposed to be a flashback...)

"Hey...," we watched as Miku stopped licking her ice cream and furrowed her brow as something circular protruded from the scoop. She licked it again and Kaito was practically squirming in his seat with excitement.

"I-Is something wrong, princess?" He was doing his best to hold back his emotions.

"I'm not sure...," we watched as Miku gently pinched the foreign object out of her ice cream. She gasped softly, gaping at it, "What...what's..."

"U-Um, I guess my ring somehow ended up in your ice cream," Kaito grinned sheepishly, "Well, I guess it's yours now, Miku."

She stared at him, and then at us, and then at him again. "Kai...Kaito..."

"Miku," he was still grinning, his face a dark red, "Will you marry me?"

Anyway, that was that. They were the perfect couple. The wedding was huge and Miku looked beautiful.

(end of flashback...)

"We're going, right?" Len asked, "To the dinner?"

I rested my head on his shoulder and he ran a hand through my hair. "Of course we are," I said, "Those two are going to want to see how much Lin and Ren have grown, won't they?"

The Third Person.

Gakupo's house was filled with life. Mewling could be heard from outside the house, that's how loud it was.

They say that the ' mysterious purple haired art teacher' had many, many cats, but nobody knew exactly how many. If you peered through his window, you'd get a glimpse of what his everyday life was like.

You'd see Gakupo sitting on his sofa, and it would be covered with so many cats that you might wonder if it was made of cats. Beside him, there'd be a woman with coral pink hair, huddled close. They'd be watching something on a computer.

"It's so adorable!" Luka would squeal. Both her and Gakupo held something tightly in their laps. He held a kitten, and she held a little, purple haired toddler. They'd watch cat videos for many hours at a time.

And then there was this one girl, a young woman, in her twenties. She was sitting outside a cafe, a cup of coffee and the newspaper on her table and her head down, focused on the flat object in her lap. This cafe was where she had gotten the object. It was a place of many memories.

She thought about going to Kaito and Miku's dinner party. They were her friends, and they cared about her, but they'd probably try to introduce another guy to her, and that was really starting to get on her nerves.

Gently, she rubbed the pad of her thumb against the face in the photograph on her lap. Her tears had dried up; the river of sorrows had, miraculously, run dry. A gentle breeze swept across the cafe as sunlight twinkled and cast its orange glow across the girl, making her green hair shine. It was about to set, the sun. The world wasn't going to end; it would come up again tomorrow.

She took in the voices of passersby, chatting, laughing, their voices quiet, then louder, then quieter again as they walked past her.

"And then she said that..."

"Carol, don't touch that!"

"Hey."

That last voice wasn't passing. She felt the presence only a foot or so from her, a person, someone standing by her. Her eyes flickered upwards and she met his face, that smile, that pale pink hair, blowing in the wind. She gasped and the photograph flew out of her lap, fluttering into the distance.

"I told you, you're the only girl I'd run after. I meant it."

Oh my God. It's done. It's done! I...I can't believe it, it's done it's done it's done done done!

I need to thank you all now, but my state of mind...I can't think straight!

Um, let's start this. I'll try to name as many people as I can who were significant to the writing process. That doesn't mean you all weren't important! I swear to you, every vote and comment makes me smile! I crack more easily than eggs (stupid pun).

So.

@Socially-Redundant, for telling me to stop hating my work and for being the first to follow me when I returned. For allowing a string of long back and forth private messages to be sent. They really were awesome, and they're not going to end, just because this story is.

@Shingeki-No-LietPol, for watching Code Geass, taking upon my request to continue her Len x Reader story, and for the awesome chats and comments. Also, for (mostly) being the reason why we're going to have a Spectrum of Yellows parody.

@TShelia, for more reasons than most people could realize. For reading my drafts, for telling me it's okay, for the hugs and votes and comments. For being a friend.

@Kagamine-Rin, for being a Rin x Len fan, for writing, for being there and learning things that I could teach her: words such as 'eloquence', 'explicit' and 'ocular.' For bringing out the troubleshooter side of me.

@Samantha-chan, for being among the first to read this story. I hope you return and finish reading!

@Nyancatkai or @TheSenpaiNamedKai, for reading when I sheepishly asked her to.

@Watarara1, for being inspired by me. You're a wonderful person, for making me feel wonderful.

@LEEKAniMiku, for the 'XD'-ing.

@Minner07, for the deep comments.

@Kurohana359, for staying up till 2 AM to catch up to my updates.

@Animewolf0900, just because I felt your presence.

@Kawaii_Onigiri, for the awesome chats, collective fangirling, and for helping mw with the last chapter without even knowing it.

@--Yario, because again, you just seemed to be there.

@KittenLover4000, for loving kittens and reading. For being someone so amazing that I can't even describe their amazingness. Not in a small, two-line shoutout at least.

@Phasehalark, for *crying hysterically*

@purpleluna, for always wanting to know 'watt' happened next.

@IA-chan, for the Gumi x Yuma fangirling. I wonder how you'll feel once you reach the end.

@angelic_devil0829, for the votes and the 'lol free pets'.

@RMercy, for laughing in the middle of class.

@C_Marie, for that one comment that brought me to tears.

@NyanSapphire, for making me realize how sad the story got sometimes.

@Vocaloidlover123, for binging on this fanfic.

@WindiaLily, because her comments always make me laugh, in a good way.

@EmilyUribe, for reading, and for the Rin x Len love. I haven't seen you in a while, though...

@vocaloid_gumi, for making me realize what it feels like to fangirl over Gumi x Yuma.

@DarkAmaterasu_709, for the fangirling.

And everyone else, you're all still important. I hope you realize that. I never would've gotten this far, this fast, if it weren't for you. This story wouldn't have happened if it wasn't for your support.

Thanks. Again.

(I dunno if you guys want a question answer thingy...I normally wouldn't but if you want...)

Goodbye. ^_^
