Chapter 77
Chapter 77
Len.
I wasn't kidding when I told Rin that she was stronger than me. She really was; while I sat around, moping about how I couldn't be with her, she swept the rules aside and said straight out that she didn't care.
I was a coward, but at least one of us had the strength to defy what was considered right. I knew that even if I managed to drift away from her, I'd never be able to let her go. I loved her, and there was no getting around that fact.
Kissing her again the way we did felt incredible, and I wanted to go back to her home, but I held back. Ren would be here tomorrow, and we could talk about it. He didn't need to know that we were romantically attached; he didn't even care for her much, anyway. We just wanted to know the truth.
If somehow, we weren't really related, we'd stay together. If we were related...we'd still stay together, I decided.
"You've got a worried look painted on that face of yours," I jumped at the voice and spun around. Oliver stood behind me, a frown on his face.
"You scared me," I said with a sigh. He shrugged.
"What's up, Len?" He walked up to me as I continued towards my home.
"I'm just going home," I said, "It's Friday, so I plan to take a long nap."
"No, I mean...what's really up?"
I paused. "The...sky?" I tried.
"What's bothering you?" Oliver put a hand on my shoulder, "Something's up, and we all know that. Me, Miku, Kaito...everybody knows that something is going on between you and Rin, but you two are just not spilling it."
"Well, maybe we don't want to," I turned away from Oliver's piercing gaze.
"Well, maybe you should," he said, "You know me, I listen to these sorts of things."
"Our problem isn't something that you can solve, Oliver."
He stared at me. We were standing in front of my house.
"Let me try," he said slowly.
I sighed. "Come in," I said.
Kaito.
We were only a few steps away from Miku's place when she started to jump and squeal like a yaoi fangirl reading the latest chapter of her favourite yaoi manga.
"Miku, you never told me you liked yaoi," I frowned, "If I had known, I would've...well, I would've gotten you some."
She stopped squealing and smiling and being all sweet and started glaring at me. "Where did that come from?" She asked, crossing her arms, "And where would you get yaoi? I don't even like yaoi, but Neru does, and...where are we going with this?"
I scratched the back of my neck. "You were squealing and fangirling," I shrugged.
"Right!" She suddenly seemed to recall something and raised a finger in the air, "I have a surprise for you, Kaito!"
"Y-You what?" She hugged me so tightly and so suddenly that I nearly fell back. She started tousling my hair like crazy.
"Kaito sweetie, dearest blue-haired prince of mine, adorable ice cream face!" She went on and on, and I was actually getting a little creeped out by what she was calling me.
"What is it, princess?" I asked slowly, trying to pull her away. She wouldn't let go; her fingers were digging into the back of my shirt.
"Remember that dinner you wanted to take me to?" She said with a grin just as a limousine turned the corner and stopped beside us. A well dressed chauffeur stepped out and opened the back door.
"W-What about it?" I looked down at her.
"I'm taking you out," she smiled, "My treat."
Oh my god she is so cute and wow and perfect and adorable and can I just like kiss her right here a thousand times but oh wait my clothes and hair and I should've taken a shower what if it's some fancy place with chandeliers and...
She smacked me with a leek. Where did that come from?!
"Stop daydreaming!" She yelled. I groaned and raised a hand to my cheek. She caressed it gently, soothing the stinging pain.
"I'm sorry, Kaito-Waito," she whispered. Kaito-Waito?! What the heck?
"M-Miku," I stuttered, "Princess, are you sure that you're not some sort of...alien replacement for my real Miku?"
She scowled. "Is that a joke? Come on, get in the limo already!"
She pushed me into the limo and then dove in herself, nearly landing on top of me.
"Don't I need a suit or something?" I frowned. She nodded and stuck her head out of the open door.
"The clothes, Jeremy," she said to the chauffeur. Jeremy?!
He nodded and reached into the trunk of the limo. Half a minute later, he returned with two classy, ironed and pressed outfits; one for me and one for Miku. She took the hangers and giggled, looking at me with an elated expression.
"You'll look even more handsome with this on," she handed a hanger to me. It was in one of those clear plastic bags, like the ones at the dry cleaners.
I frowned, looking at the dark blue suit and tie. "You really think so?"
Miku nodded and showed off her outfit. It was a shimmering teal dress lined with black lace. "How's it look?"
I blushed. "You're already so beautiful, princess...I might die if you wear that!"
She giggled and playfully smacked me on the shoulder. Jeremy shut the door and soon, the limo began to move.
"Where do I change?" I asked. She looked at me, still smiling.
"The windows are tinted," she said softly, "Absolute privacy."
"Y-You want me to...to change in here?" I raised my voice a bit more than I should have. Miku nodded and suddenly began pulling my shirt over my head.
That was when I really started to freak out. I wriggled out of her grasp and stared at her.
"I'll...I'll do it myself," I stammered, "Thanks."
"Do you want me to turn away?"
Oh god, what do I say now?
I ended up shrugging and plastering a smooth smile across my face. "Whatever you want, princess."
She blushed, hands over her face as she shook her head. Fangirling, she was fangirling. Adorably.
I tried to ignore the awkwardness and potential hotness of our situation and pulled my shirt off. Quickly, I put on the dress shirt and tie. Miku had her hands clasped over her eyes, but I watched as they lowered every now and then for a split second. I grinned uneasily, tense and somehow excited. I was stupid, wasn't I?
"Well, hurry up!" She insisted, eyes shut tight. I nodded and changed my pants.
"No looking!" I said, still smiling. She nodded and actually didn't even peek that time. I tapped her on the shoulder once I was done.
"Kaito, you look amazing," she whispered. I sat down beside her.
"You were peeking," I chuckled.
"No I wasn't!"
"Yes you were," I tousled her hair, "But it's okay, princess."
She pouted her lips. "Don't peek, okay?"
"You don't mean that," I stifled a laugh, "I can tell by the look on your face."
She turned away with a half smile, and I shut my eyes. Rustling followed as she removed her shirt and skirt, and I actually did peek, for half a second.
Okay, maybe a bit longer than that, but only because I couldn't stop looking, even though I was internally yelling at myself for behaving in such an inappropriate way.
Stop it, Kaito, just stop...she's really pretty, but seriously, just...
I got up and wrapped my arms around her. She yelped and her dress slipped from her hands.
"Kaito," she said flatly, "Please let go of me."
"But you're a sparkly princess!" I whined in spite of myself, "I, er, I mean...yeah, I'll let go. Sorry."
My fingers brushed over her bare skin and she grabbed my hands before I was out of contact.
"This is stupid," she said softly, turning and looking up at me, "Isn't it?"
I was about to say something, but she pulled me in for a kiss before I could. We sat down and she kept her mouth pressed against mine for what felt like the longest time, hands reaching behind me and pressed against my back. I buried my hands in her hair and kissed her harder than I had ever let myself. I never wanted to take things too far, not until we were married, if we ever married. I wanted to prevent heartbreak, because as committed as I was to her, she still wasn't entirely sure of her love for me.
Well, at that moment, she felt pretty sure. She had her hands clamped around me and her tongue in my mouth, grazing mine as it swept past. She pushed me back against the length of the seat, pinning me down, lost in feelings that seemed to run as deep as mine. I sighed slowly and quickly pulled away, gently running my fingers along her face and down the length of her neck.
"You should get dressed, princess," I said between breaths. She was blushing a little, and with a nod, she picked up the dress and pulled it on.
"I hope you're hungry," she said as she fidgeted in the dress before settling down, "Because we're going to a big, fancy place."
I smiled at her. "Do they serve ice cream?"
Len.
Oliver sighed and paced around my room, looking down at his shoes. I was sitting on my bed, spinning my pencil between my fingers.
"I told you, it's a mess," I said, "There's nothing that we can do about it."
"No, there is something," Oliver stopped walking and stared at me. I had only told him half of the story. He didn't know about Rin's decision, and my wish to follow through with what she had decided on.
"You just have to follow your gut," Oliver said with a nod. I frowned.
"You mean..."
"I mean, date her," Oliver interrupted, "If you really love her that much, then don't let anything stand in your way. If people have objections, then they can go screw themselves."
"We're not even sure yet, you know," I sighed, "Rin's father is retuning home tomorrow, and we're going to talk to him."
"Then it'll be a big deal for you in many ways," Oliver said, "He is your father, after all."
"We're not going to tell him that we're dating," I said, and then quickly added, "If we do, that is. Ren doesn't really care much about Rin anyways. He clearly didn't care about me."
"You have to put the past behind you, Len, or you'll be afraid of Ren."
"Right..."
"Go back," he said quickly, with a huff, "Go back to Rin's place right now and spend some time with her. Don't let the rest of the world tell you what's right or wrong. You're not a puppet; you're yourself."
A smile cracked across my face. "You're right, Oliver," I said slowly, "Thanks."
Okay, half of the Kaito x Miku stuff wasn't even supposed to happen. Ah, whatever.
I only realized that "Ren" is made of the names "Len" merged "Rin" a little while ago.
For those who don't know, "yaoi" is boy's love, as in, boy x boy stories, which are (statistically) popular among girls.
See you next chapter. Thanks for the votes and comments. Tell me what you think of this chapter? Do you agree with Oliver? And doesn't Kaito and Miku's date sound wonderful? I personally love the last thing that Kaito said at the end of his POV.
