Chapter 36
Chapter 36
Meiko.
I followed Mikuo around the streets on my skateboard, coasting along the roads. There was a bitter frown planted on my face, and I made sure that he could see it.
"I just don't want you doing something stupid," he finally said, stopping his board and sitting down on the edge of the sidewalk.
I sat down beside him. "I've been doing stuff like that for years," I said, "So why do you care so much now?"
I stared at him as he looked down at the pavement, his moppy turquoise bangs falling over his face. He was smiling slightly, and slowly, I could see a light red hue developing across his face.
"It's hard to explain...isn't it, Meiko?" He whispered, looking at me, "And at the same time, it's so obvious."
I looked at him with wide eyes as he inched closer and put his nose against mine. My mouth was slightly agape, and I could feel his fingers running through my hair.
And then the distant sound of the school bell made both of us jump.
"Crap, we're late!" Mikuo snapped, getting up.
I looked up at him. There were no words in my mouth.
"Come on," he said, pulling me up. I shook my head and brought myself back into reality.
"Right," I smiled, making him blush again. I jabbed a finger in his gut, "You still owe me that movie."
He smirked. "Yeah, fine," he said as we skateboarded back to the school, "Whatever you say."
Miku.
I had English after lunch. Kaito had math. Argh! Why did I mention Kaito again?
...Probably because he was standing by my locker once I got there.
"Hey, princess!" He grinned.
I did my best to ignore him. I failed. "What do you want, Kaito?"
"You want me to carry your stuff for you?" He sounded like a kid.
"I said, what do you want?" I repeated.
"I want you to come to the park with me tomorrow."
"Okay, fine, whatever," I said, annoyed, "Just leave me alone."
"Awesome!" He hugged me from behind. It was then that I realized what I had just agreed to.
"Wait, what?" I squirmed out of his arms. For someone who are ice cream all the time, he was certainly strong.
"Sorry, I'd take you to the zoo, but I'm broke!" He laughed like the idiot he was.
A loveable idiot...Some part of me thought. I did my best to shut off that part of me, or at least, to ignore it.
"I don't want to go!" I yelled. I blushed as I felt his breath against my neck.
"Come on, Miku! It's just the park!" He paused, "I'll take you mountain climbing for our honeymoon, I swear!"
That was it. I smacked him with a leek and he fell to the floor. Okay, so maybe I smacked him a bit harder than I should've, because he looked a little unconscious.
"Gahh! Dammit!" I yelled, hooking my arms under his and dragging him towards the stairs. I spotted Gakupo heading up, but when he saw me, he looked concerned.
"Mr. Gakupo!" I cried, "Kaito's..."
"Dead?" Gakupo's voice almost sounded a little hopeful.
"No!" I yelled, "He's unconscious! Could you help me carry him down to the nurse's office?"
No, no, I haven't forgotten Len and Rin! They'll be back in the next chapter!
