Chapter 8 : Awkward - Tam, Biana, and Linh Song
Author's Note: This is an unusual chapter because it is from three different characters' point of views. We'll see how this turns out!

Tam Song
I know I've made a mistake as I watch Biana run away, but I don't want to take my words away.
I'm not surprised that Biana fled. I'm the new kid, the outcast, the...guy who likes her.
But I am surprised at the way that Biana didn't run away at first, the way she she stayed in her seat, leaning even closer to me as I held her chin, almost tilting her head...for a second, staring into her sharp teal eyes, I thought we were going to kiss.
And then she ran away.
The first thought I had, surprisingly, was about our Revolutionary War project. We're done with the poster, but we need to meet up to decide how we present it.
And I have a feeling that is going to be very awkward.

It's 4:30, after school, that I finally call Biana, who left me her phone number for the project. She doesn't pick up, as I expected, and I leave a voicemail.
"Um, Biana? I was wondering...well, we need to finish our project--I mean, decide who reads what--so...um...can you come over?"
No going back now.

Biana Vacker
After eating three cupcakes that Fitz baked, 2 jalapenos, and drinking 4 glasses of water, I've finally succeeded on getting Tam Song off my mind.
And then I get a phone call from him. I didn't pause my diet to do this. I don't pick up the phone, but I find myself listening to the voicemail as I peel the wrapper off a chocolate cupcake, my heart fluttering for some strange reason. As I listen to the first part, my heart picks up the pace.
"Um, Biana? I was wondering..."
Oh no, is he going to ask me out?
"...well, we need to finish our project--I mean, decide who reads what--so...um...can you come over?"
Oh. But it's not going to be much better. I predict awkward silences.

Linh Song
I'm finishing my Math homework when the doorbell rings. I glance around. Wylie's out getting flowers for somebody--he won't tell me who-- while Tam is upstairs in his room. Like always.
I open the door, surprised to see a girl my age, a brunette, with glossy hair and sparkling teal eyes. I'm pretty sure I know who she is, but she doesn't seem to recognize me. "Um, I'm Biana...but I'm pretty sure I got the wrong house."
I smile, and flick my hair back. "TAM!" I yell. Biana looks surprised for a second, and even more surprised when Tam comes marching down the stairs.
"What, Linh," he says before he notices Biana and blushes. "Oh. Hi."
Biana blushes harder as I study the two. The way they look into each other eyes--there's definitely something going on between Biana and Tam.
And I'm going to find out.
**
It has been 15 minutes since Biana and Tam have gone upstairs, and to be honest, I'm suspicious. That's why I sneak upstairs to my room and press my ear to the wall separating Tam's room and mine.
Straining to pick up parts of their conversation, I actually succeed in hearing their conversation.
"So, um," I hear Tam say. "I'll say this part and you'll say the Benedict Arnold one, right?"
"Yeah," Biana's melodic voice says, "So are we done with this?"
"One more thing," I pick up. "About this morning--" Tam begins.
Biana interrupts him. "Look, Tam. I can't. Not now."
Silence.
"Okay." More silence. "Okay."
There's more silence until the doorbell rings, and I reluctantly pull my ear away from the wall to go answer it.
I'm not too happy with how this turned out, but meh. It's okay. Thanks for reading!
