Chapter 15

Hurry up, would you? I laugh to myself and find a way to the roof. I put the suit on, but before I put the mask on, I find the pool and look down sadly. I guess this is the cost of being a superhero.

Pegasus's Pov

As soon as I saw Peter off, I started digging deeper into the Vulture gang.  I tracked one of their lairs down to Maryland, but there's a truck going through D.C. tonight that is full of stuff they would want. I know Peter would hate me if I handled them myself and let him get ready for boring decathlon.

The Vulture group is passing by D.C. tonight. You need to meet up with me.

I listen to his thoughts to wait for his response. "I got to go, Ned!"

"TMI dude!"

"Ned! Not that! Spiderman has to be somewhere!"

"Is it the toilet?"

"Bye Ned!"  By this point, I'm laughing uncontrollably. I quickly get out of his head and calm myself down. I teleport to the truck and land inside with a gentle thud. A few minutes later, I hear a much larger thud.

Hurry up, would you?  I don't care what he's doing, I have a feeling I'm gonna need some help. I hear him laugh quietly. I hear a rustling above me. I don't care what you're doing, stop and get here asap. Don't stop for anything. He's here.

That was a little dramatic, don't ya think.

I roll my eyes. Just get here.

That was a very loud eye roll.

There's about to be a very loud glare to go with it. I retort. A few minutes later, I barely hear another thud. Finally.

Hey! I didn't stop for anything! Not even some shady dudes at a gas statio- Aaaaand he heard me.

I'll be right there. We really need to stop getting into these situations. I find myself on the top of the truck and wonder how the driver, or anyone else for that matter, has noticed that two superheroes from New York and some dude in a metal bird suit are on top of a moving vehicle in D.C.  I turn around and see Peter jump really high in order to avoid getting shot with those alien guns. "Hey, Big Bird!" I shout. He turns around.

Peter's Pov

On the bright side, Peggy's here. But the Vulture dude is none too happy about being called big bird. He shoots at Peggy.

"Watch out!" I quickly warn. She jumps up and shields everything else from the blast.

I'm getting us into a more closed off space. We end up at some abandoned warehouse. Without the Vulture.

"Well, fiddle. I thought he was coming with us." I snort.

"Well, fiddle?" Pegs glares at me.

"You can shut it. I wasn't born and raised in New York like some people."

I raise my hands up. "Chill." I look around. "Where are we?"

"Don't ask me! I was just trying to go to an empty place!"

"Well we're stuck here until morning according to Karen." Peggy looks at me.

"Karen?! What happened while I wasn't right by your side?!" It's my turn to roll my eyes.

"Karen is the AI that Mr. Stark put in my suit," I say like I've known this since I got the suit.

"There's an AI in your suit?!" she shrieks.

"Yeah. Ned hacked in my suit for me and unlocked the full features, which included Karen."

"Okay. But why Karen?"

"I don't know. It was just the first thing I came up with." She gives me a look that tells me that she doesn't believe me.

"And what was the bathroom stuff about?" she asks coolly. I freeze and feel my face heat up.

She laughs. "I'm kidding. I heard the whole conversation." My eyes feel like saucers.

Deciding to change the topic, I ask Karen what time it is.

"It is 3 o'clock in the morning, Peter."

"Good. I've got time to get back to the hotel by 5. Wait...we can't get out." Peggy starts laughing again.

"Just a sec." A 'sec' later, we're at the hotel.

"Have you been able to do that this whole time?!" I ask.

"Yep. I just wanted to see how long it took for you to figure it out. Which you still didn't. We really need to get better about both of us remembering that I can teleport us at the same time." My jaw drops.

"Now I got minimum sleep. Thanks for thinking about that earlier," I say, trying to make her feel bad.

"You've worked with less before. Now get ready for the competition. I'll be there, but no one will be able to see me so the 'can't go on trip because Stark Internship' alibi works out." It's like she didn't even hear what I said!

"Oh, I did." We glare at each other.
