Poseidon
So, I was forced to dance with Zeus, even though I really didn't want to, I'd much rather be with Hades, or even one of the twins, the two of them seemed nice enough. And, Hades and I were close. It wouldn't be uncomfortable to be this close with him. Though, it's not like I'd know. We've never really had much physical contact, other than the time Zeus came to see us.
Zeus smirked at me, as he held me close to him. I refused to look at him, and I swallowed the lump in my throat.
"Why're you so tense? You should relax. Okay? You're partying at Olympus! Have some fun!" He suggested. I faked a laugh.
"I'm..not really the 'fun' type." I mumbled.
He rolled his eyes. "That could change. Maybe, you should surround yourself with better company than Hades."
I took a deep breath, anything I said could result in trouble, if I agreed with him, I was basically telling him I was interested in him, and if I disagreed, I'd be telling him that everything Hades had been telling him was a lie. There wasn't much I could say. My mind was blank.
"Maybe I don't want any company. I prefer being alone. I don't much like people, or well, in this case, gods. It's nothing against anyone. It's just who I am." I explained, hoping maybe, that this reply, would be one to make him stop, but it wasn't.
"People can change Damara."
He smirked, before spinning me, I collided with someone else. Everyone was changing partners, so it wasn't too out of the ordinary, though it shocked me. The man with me, wasn't Hades. But I recognized him, he was the same man who was observing my conversation earlier. He held out his hand.
"Don't make a scene dear, take my hand." He smiled, he was quite charming. I obliged, and he held me close to him, and put his hand on my lower back.
He was beautiful, and smelled of coconuts, and minerals, or like a nice summer breeze, it was hard to explain.
I was mesmerized by him for a moment, I don't know what it was about him. I shook it off, and came back to reality.
"You. You're the one who was watching me earlier. Who are you?" I asked, curious to know more about him. He smiled.
"I'm none other than Poseidon. Pleasure to make your acquaintance Damara." He smirked, as we continued to dance.
"And might I ask, why is that?" I questioned. Poseidon smiled.
"Oh, I have a few questions for the young, beautiful, woman who's causing such a scandal in my family."
I couldn't help but blush a bit, but even though he was charming, it didn't mean I trusted him.
"And what would those questions be?" I asked.
"Why're you in The Underworld Damara? Do you have any idea what The Underworld is? It's where the dead go. Are you dead Damara? Because the mere fact that you're here, tells me you aren't. Also, it's for bad people. Are you a bad person Damara? Because by looks of it, you're little miss perfect, and you couldn't hurt a fly." He explained.
I furrowed by brows. "I thought that in Greek mythology, The Underworld was where everyone went?" I questioned. He chuckled.
"Not exactly. We may have stretched the truth a bit. Striking the fear of the gods into people is what Zeus knows best. You know those other religions you hear about? There's some truth behind that too. There's a heaven. Zeus just didn't think that people belonged there. So, he told them it didn't exist. I'm not exactly sure how the human race managed to figure it out. Perhaps I underestimated you, and it looks like Zeus did as well."
"How did it work out for Zeus to lie?" I asked.
"If people don't believe there's something better, they don't waste their time trying to find it. Humans never went after forgiveness or self redemption, and just allowed themselves to live eternity in agony." He explained.
"That's-"
"Lazy? Stupid? Yes, I'm aware of that. But hey, it's your species. Not mine." He interrupted.
I now understood why Zeus was confused by my answer earlier, when he asked what I did, he wasn't talking about something as dumb as a career, he was asking about what I did to get into The Underworld. It all made more sense now.
"The Underworld doesn't seem that bad to me. All it is, is just being around Hades. How is that so bad?" I questioned.
Poseidon looked at me confused. "Oh really? Hades likes you more than I thought. Allowing you, to just..do whatever you please. Hm, listen to me Damara. Zeus is a liar, and Hades, is the most lonely person in the universe. You can't trust either of them to help you figure out why you're here, or how to get back. But me? I'm your biggest ally right now. Think about that." He said with a smile and a nod before walking off.
That conversation left me more confused than ever. I noticed Hades, smiling at me from across the room, and I smiled back, though I wasn't sure what exactly to think.
