Family Ties

Me and Hades walked in, and my suspicions were confirmed as true. It was Zeus, looking as intimidating as ever, and he was giving me the creepiest stare I'd ever seen.

Hades sighed, and his nose started to flare.

"What are you doing here brother?" Hades asked.

Zeus chuckled. "Well, you walked out of the party, without saying goodbye, it was completely rude of you in my opinion."

"What are you doing here father?"

Asked a familiar voice, Athena's to be exact. Ambrosia's face lit up when she saw her, and I couldn't help but smile. But Hades just rolled his eyes, not wanting to deal with any more family.

"I could ask you the same thing." Zeus replied. Athena smirked. "The nymphs. They're my friends. I wanted to check up on them."

"Maybe I wanted to see my friends."

Zeus shrugged. Athena scoffed at her father's reply. "You don't have any friends. But, you do have a wife. You should probably be with her, shouldn't you?"

"How about you don't worry about what I'm doing?" Zeus stated, getting in Athena's face. Ambrosia clenched her fists together, and Ambrose held her back. Not wanting her to get hurt. Before Athena could reply she was interrupted.

"Am I late? I really hope not." Dionysus smirked, when he, and a small group of other gods showed up. Including, Ares, Aphrodite, Hephaestus, and the twins, Artemis and Apollo.

Hades smacked his forehead. "Why are you all here? None of you even like me, or acknowledge my existence most of the time. So, why, would any of you, just to decide to come and visit me out of nowhere?" He sighed.

"Maybe because after centuries of nothing, you're finally interesting?" Zeus stated, sarcastically.

Athena rolled her eyes. "I invited them. We could at least try being a family." She smiled. Hades scoffed.

"Oh really? And what are you proposing we do Athena? Have dinner together and make small talk?" He mocked.

"Now there's an idea! But, does this horrible place you call a home, even have a place to dine?" Zeus chuckled.

Before anyone could reply, Ambrose cleared his throat. "If you guys are looking to dine, please, follow me." He stated dryly, and we followed him, I sat next to Hades, who sat at one end of the table, Zeus, tried to sit on the other side of me, but Athena took that seat, making sure he didn't.

I mouthed a thank you to her, and she nodded, and smiled.

Ambrose, and Ambrosia served us our meal. Zeus was sitting at the other end of the table, directly across from Hades. He chuckled lightly. "Strange, Poseidon isn't here."

"Oh, I'm here. But only for one person."

Poseidon said, showing himself again, but only to me of course. I turned, to see him leaning up against the wall behind me. He smirked, the way he always did, and he waved at me. I breathed a laugh, and shook my head before turning back to the other gods, who thankfully, didn't notice.

Hades shrugged. "Maybe he's given up, on his obsession with Damara."  Poseidon chuckled, and I felt his hands on my shoulders, before he put his lips close to my ear.

"Not by a long shot."

He whispered, I looked at him, and he looked at my lips again, biting his, the way he always did.

But, I couldn't deal with this again, not here. I turned away, trying to keep focused on what was going on around me. And Poseidon, went back to leaning against the wall, hesitantly of course.

"Maybe, someone else, needs to follow Poseidon's example. You know, move on, take the hint. Learn the word no." Hades smirked. Zeus scoffed.

"Why? Are you having trouble dealing with the fact that she isn't into you?" He asked.

Hades clenched his fists. I grabbed his hand under the table, helping him to calm down, his face softened, and I smiled softly at him. And he took a deep breath.

Ares chuckled. "I'm sorry father, but you're delusional. If you can't see that Damara is interested in Hades, you're blind. She hasn't even said a word to you since you arrived. Deal with it." Ares started, before looking from his father to me.

"Though, I can't say I blame you for wanting a chance. She is quite a sight. I think even Heph, might have a thing for her." Ares teased, hitting Hephaestus lightly with his elbow. Hephaestus rolled his eyes and sighed.

"Ares, my name is Hephaestus. And, I'm married."

Ares rolled his eyes. "Yeah, barely." He said, before taking a sip of his drink. Hephaestus just rolled his eyes again.

Aphrodite smiled. "Well, I agree with Ares, I think you're absolutely beautiful. You could do way better than Hades, or Zeus."

She was sitting across from me, next to her husband.

"Like..god of the sea maybe?" Poseidon smirked, but I ignored him

"Oh, well..thank you." I smiled.

Hephaestus rolled his eyes, and looked at his wife. "Are you honestly flirting with, not only a human, but a woman, who's already caused enough drama, right in front of me, and your family? Is it not enough, that you're having an affair with Ares, that literally, everyone knows about? Must you find even more ways to humiliate me?" He spat out.

Ares, almost choked on his drink from laughter.

Aphrodite smirked, and cupped her husband's face, batting her eyelashes. "Oh honey, you don't need me to humiliate you. You do it well enough, by just being you." She stated, before slapping him lightly, and turning back to her meal.

Apollo cleared his throat. "Can we just..enjoy our food please?" He asked, with an annoyed smile.

Artemis nodded. "I agree." There were a few moments of silence. before Dionysus cleared his throat.

"So, Hades, how was the wine? Did you and Damara enjoy my favorite aphrodisiac?"

He asked, seeming completely clueless as to why that was a horrible thing to say right now. Probably because he was drunk already. He was on the other side of Aphrodite, and on his other side was Artemis. They both stabbed his thighs with a fork.

He let out a groan of pain, and then looked at them with an annoyed expression. Zeus laced his hands together and cocked his head.

Poseidon sighed and shook his head.

"Oh..this is gonna be horrible. I am, so relieved that I'm not actually there."

Hades, sighed at his brother, just waiting to hear what he was going to say, and trying to prepare himself for it. Zeus chuckled softly.

"Oh Hades, I'm the youngest. Don't you know, that I get to play with all the new toys first?"

My eyes widened, at Zeus's response. It was a horrible thing to say, but I didn't really care what he had to say about me, I was worried about Hades. I looked at him, his face darkened, and his eyes lit up, he let go of my hand. He stood, And flipped the table over towards Zeus. No one was quite sure what to say, or do.

"Get out. Now." He growled, sounding more terrifying than I'd ever heard him.
