Part Four
Staring blankly at him, Kaitlyn took in the revelation Seth had just told her.
He loved her.
Seth loved her.
He noticed the look on her face, his face falling into sadness as she didn't say anything.
Seth could almost feel his heart becoming heavy, the hurt slowly filling him up. He shouldn't have come, he shouldn't have even told her. He should have known the outcome.
Putting his head down, Seth started to walk away, deciding on leaving.
"Seth!", Kaitlyn spoke.
Stopping, Seth looked back at her.
"Yes?"
"Do you mean it?", she asked, her voice shaking alittle.
Taking a few steps towards her, Seth nodded, "Of course I do."
Exhaling deeply, he continued.
"I have for awhile, I just didn't know if you would feel the same way. I didn't want to tell you and have you reject me, yet the longer I kept it the more it ate me up on the inside."
"All this time..", Kaitlyn said in a whisper.
"I adored our friendship, I thought that's all what you saw me as. A friend, a brother/ sister relationship if may.", Seth spoke. "And then you met PJ, I just sat and watched the world go by as you fell in love with someone who wasn't me. It hurt, it hurt badly. But you was happy, I didn't want to ruin that for you."
As these words sunk in, Kaitlyn felt her eyes well up with tears, threatening to run down her cheeks.
"Each time I saw that wonderful smile on your face I wished it was me. Every kiss, hug, every bit of attention he gave you, I wished it would be me, not him giving that to you."
Seth stopped speaking, seeing her cry. It made him hurt even more, knowing that he was the reason that she was crying.
Brides aren't suppose to cry, and if they did it should only be because they're happy.
Taking his pocket square out of his suit jacket pocket, Seth cupped Kaitlyn's face in his hand as he slowly dabbed away the damp tears, trying not to ruin her make-up.
Kaitlyn placed her hand ontop of Seth's, keeping her green eyes on his brown. Leaning in, his lips almost touched hers until she turned her head.
"We can't do this."
Standing up straight to his full height, Seth sighed, "Tell me."
"Tell you what?", Kaitlyn asked, looking at him in confusion.
"Tell me you feel the same way."
Her face fell at the realisation of what he was telling her to say. She couldn't bring herself to say it, seeing how broken he already was about her.
"I can't.", she muttered in reply.
"Why not?"
"Because I can't."
"Kaitlyn if you don't tell me then I can't go on to feel the way I do. It kills me not knowing that you may love me back or not. Hearing you say you don't will give me the closure I need to move on, I may not like the answer you give me but I will have to suck it up and move on."
Turning away from him, Kaitlyn stepped forward a few steps before stopping.
"I can't tell you that I don't feel the same way, because I do.", she spoke. Turning round to face him, Kaitlyn noticed the slightly shocked expression on his face.
"I think I've known this for awhile, but I just didn't know what to do. Now I've just buried myself in this deep hole I can't get out of.", Kaitlyn laughed dryly. "Ever since I left you in that carpark all I thought about was you, I nearly drove myself insane. I don't know what you've done to me but I shouldn't be feeling this way about you, not when I have a fiancé."
Pacing back and forth, Kaitlyn continued.
"I'm just a wreck. I'm with another man and I love you! I love you so much, Seth.", she confessed.
She huffed as she went and sat down on a chair.
"I literally don't know what I'm even doing anymore, I feel my life has just gone full speed and I've had no time to stop and say whether I wanted this or not.", Kaitlyn spoke.
Seth stared at her as she just spilled this out, trying to understand her.
"What do you want?", he questioned after a moment of silence between the two of them.
Looking at him with a look of helplessness, Kaitlyn shrugged her shoulders, "I don't know what I want anymore."
Walking over to her and crouching down, Seth took her hands in his, holding them.
"If you don't want this, then come with me. I'll take you away from all of this."
"Run away with you?", she questioned, Seth nodding in reply. "Seth..I can't.", shaking her head she declined.
The sadness from earlier reappearing on Seth's face.
"PJ, he's expecting me to marry him, and he loves me. I can't do this to him, he doesn't deserve this."
"You don't deserve to marry someone you don't love.", he countered.
"I can't. I just can't."
Letting go of her hand, Seth stood up. He nodded curtly before stepping away from her.
"Wait, Seth. Where are you going?", Kaitlyn asked.
"I'm leaving, I can't bear to see you marry him. I'm sorry Kait, I wish you the best of luck with the rest of your life.", he said quietly before he headed down the corridor.
"Seth. Seth, no! Don't go!", she pleaded.
He didn't look back.
Putting her head in her hands, she fought back the tears. Silly girl, you should have gone with him. You know it's what you truly want.
"Kait.", a soft voice spoke.
Taking a deep intake of breath in, Kaitlyn looked up to see AJ.
"Hey.", she spoke.
"Urm, PJ wants to know if this wedding is happening."
Standing up from the chair, Kaitlyn straightened her dress, nodding in reply.
"Yes, yes it is happening.", Kaitlyn replied.
"Okay.", AJ nodded, giving her best friend a faint smile before disappearing into the room Kaitlyn suspected she came from.
Looking down the corridor one last time, Kaitlyn sighed before walking into the room, closing the door behind her.
