The old woman shuffled rather slowly toward the crystal gazing ball, but this one does not tell the future. This one shows what is happening in the present, in the grand palace, where they live.

She looked at it intently for a moment, but what she saw did not please her. Snarling, her crippled right hand glowed red, and a black cat approached from the shadows. The witch's hand immediately stopped glowing when she noticed the cat, who had begun licking his front paws.

The witch glanced at the gazing ball, then back to the cat."Eclipse." Her raspy voice echoed in the darkness. Eclipse paused in his licking and gazed silently at her with his honey colored eyes. He nodded, purred, then disappeared into the shadows.

Do not fail me, the witch's mind repeated over and over again.

She was still staring at the gazing ball when the cat returned. Eclipse stepped delicately over cobwebs and large sizzling puddles all the way to the witch. He let out a meow once, twice, and leaped into the witch's arms. The witch gave him a nice belly rub, making him purr with delight. He had completed his mission.

The witch peered at the gazing ball once more, then smiled a cruel smile.

The princess is cursed, and after many decades, she had finally gotten her revenge.
