Chapter Twentyfour-Missing
Sooo...this is a pretty long chapter.
As soon as I headed out, I knew something was off. The voices that had been calling out cheerfully earlier were gone. Instead, it was replaced with the murmurs and whispers of a few villagers. All of their faces were grave.
I passed by them, keeping my head down, and as I did so, I heard some slips of words.
"...missing...worried..." A rather plump lady whispered to a thin woman wearing a smock. At least that's what I think it's called.
"...searching here soon...demand..." A man with a mustache told his mustache buddy, who was stroking it with a thoughtful expression imprinted on his face.
I did my best to ignore the words that could mean my capture and sprinted past. Turning a corner, I let out a sigh of relief, but only to find myself in front of a piece of papyrus nailed to the side of a house. Normally, I would just passed by it, since it could be an ad for something, but with those villagers whispering...
A familiar symbol caught my eye. Fear creeped in.
It was the seal of Dragonheart, my kingdom. And they know I'm gone.

My back ached. My legs feel as if they were on fire. But I know I have to tear those papers down, otherwise Ben and Carol will know.
I paused to catch my breath, although it's not easy considering I was weighed down with the stack of papers, my face all over them. Unfortunately, I only did half of the village.
I'm not going to finish, I thought, panting in an unladylike way. I'm worn out from exhaustion.
I leaned against a side in an alley, only to notice there was another papyrus with my picture on it above me. I reached up to grab it when another person's tore it away.
I turned to face them, and I was a bit surprised that it was Miri. Her eyes widened at the sight of me.
"Oh, thank goodness you're alright!" She exclaimed, which I thought was a bit too loud, as a villager scowled at us. I shouldn't have turned away from Miri. She crushed me into a hug fiercely. "I thought you got kidnapped or died!"
I hugged her back while rolling my eyes internally. Sometimes Miri overreacts too much.
"And also," Miri continued. "Where is my seeds?"
I obviously handed them over. After everything I've been through, I am not looking forward to demon-version Miri.
"Thanks!" Miri chirped, her mood suddenly doing a one-eighty degrees. "Let's go back home!"
I held up my stack of papers, signifying my question about the "MISSING" papers.
"We burn it." Miri said before heading off.
I let a moment of that sinking in pass before running after her. I seriously sometimes do wish I have a voice so I could tell her to wait up. So while Miri skips and prances and sings about some fairy's hair flowing like a waterfall, I just tried not to waste my breath.
It wasn't until we reached a house that I noticed it's not Ben and Carol's.
Miri ended her song and spun around to face me, which meant she possibly purposely made me get tortured in the running.
"Welcome," Miri said. "To my house."
