Chapter Thirteen-Lied

(A/N) Hi, guys (again)! I hope you enjoy this chapter!

Miri

Holy moons. Why is Ben so clueless? How is he even in 10th grade?

I do like Ben, but...

I felt my face redden a little bit, and turned to face a wall.

When Ben complemented Jenna, she wasn't flushing from embarrassment; she was blushing because she likes him.

Now, I was cautious about friendship and love, and Ben can be mine. I'm going to cling on to the tiny shred of hope for as long as I can.

Anyways, Jenna has been more...quiet. I mean, she was and always has been, but now...it's like she's hiding something. And that something is troubling her. I need to find out, like, right now, and support her like a true friend.

I paused in my thoughts. A true friend...

I shook my head quickly, as if shaking off the thought. No, Miri, he's not here, he will be only a blurry figure in the distance from you memories of the past. The past is behind you. He is not here. He is gone.

I cleared my throat loud and clear. "Ahem." Apparently clearing my throat isn't enough to make Ben turn around. Jenna's eyes darted to me and she lightly shook his arm. Being the clueless person he is, his face scrunched into a face of confusion. Jenna sighed and turned him around, making him face me.

He gulped.

"Thank you, Jenna, but we need to talk. Alone." I glared at Ben. He didn't move an inch. "As I said, alone." He still didn't move. I took in a deep breath, and said in the calmest tone I could muster. "If you don't get out, I'll hit you. Real hard. So hard it will make you cry for more than a month. 3...2-"

"Okay, okay, I'll get out!" He quickly sprang up from the bed, handed Jenna her barf bag, and sprinted out of the hut.

I waited until Ben was a good distance away. But then I remembered the little brat curling up in the corner. I turned to her. "You too, Carol."

"No! Why should I anyway? I want to stay and listen!" Carol whined.

"Carolina Lulu Sparrow, this is a private discussion, and it is a very important matter." I said in my don't-mess-with-me-or-else tone. In a more cheerful voice, I said, "Why don't you hang out with that nice boy next door-what was his name again? Oh right. Jax."

Carol blushed at the mention of his name. "D-don't bring h-him up!" Carol whisper-shouted.

"I won't if you go." I said slyly.

"F-f-fine! I-I'll go!" Carol ran to the hut next-door and knocked. A moment later, a boy appeared while brushing his dark colored bangs out of his face, which brightened at the sight of Carol. They said something to each other, but I can't read lips. Carol stepped into the hut, and the door slammed shut, cutting off my view.

"They're so cute together." I sighed happily before turning to face Jenna, changing to a bad mood. "Now, spill your guts." Jenna seemed startled by this comment. I face-palmed, remembering that in her palace they don't use these type of words. "No, Jenna, not literally. It just means to tell the truth." Jenna's face morphed into one of confusion. "I know you were lying before. Tell the truth now."

(A/N) So...how about a little vote to support our now sweating Jenna? ;)
