TechWings
Again, got bored. In the last day or so I have managed to create like, five different fantribes. This is one of them. TechWings.
My original inspiration of this was two years ago when I was writing my Lone Dragon in Pyyrhia series. The idea for the third book in my little fan series was from Einstein's POV, because I really liked him. Anyways, after his sister Lightslayer died, he wanted to bring her back so much! He slowly went insane, never leaving his workshop, and filling notebook after noteook and blueprint after blueprint with ways of building a vessel to keep her soul in. What came from that was the TechWing, Gauge.
In actuality, the TechWings were not invented by Einstein, as I scrapped that plot line a long time ago. However, this race of metal superdragons were created by a group know as the Outclan. One dragon from every tribe, came together to build something to serve as Pyyrhia's new soldiers. The result was the TechWings
Gauge is an example of a TechWing higher in the scial order, looking even more like a machine than others of her tribe
While Aries on the other hand, being lower in rankings, is mainly fashioned of black hardened leather, giving her a more dragon-like appearance, and is also only adorned with one fuel gauge on her chest. A more simplistic design than those of nobles.
Okay doke, here we go.
Description TechWings are normally created with black, gray, silver, or gold scales, growing to rustier colors as they age, with either black or sometimes gold accents (Claws, membrane, tail spikes). Almost always, a monitor or gauge is built into their chest. More elaborate designs indicate higher in their social order.
Demeanor TechWings, being built from materials as metal, leather, stone, or wood, are not created with souls, ergo, they have no dragonlike emotions, or ability to distinguish between right and wrong. To be grouped into normal society, a TechWing must take the soul of a live dragon, in order for them to possess that dragon's personality. However, the dragon wil have no former memories of anything before the moment of becoming a TechWing, which normally happens when the TechWing body is of three years of age.
Social Order After a TechWing has absorbed the soul of a dragon, they have two options
1. Accept their lives to be trained as Pyyrhia's super-soldiers
2. Give up their free will and serve loyally under whatever master chooses them
Only one account has been recorded of the second option, and that was of Monitor, the first known TechWing ever to be given life.
If a TechWing chooses #1, they will be quickly moved to a small island off the south coast of what once was the Night Kingdom, called Smog Isle. Known to be the home of the TechWings. This is where, under a strict absolute monarchy, their queen Gauge presides over every TechWing with a free will. The Isle's prime directive is training TechWings' bodies and minds to know only killing, and doing what they have been ordered. While they were gifted free will, it is stripped clean soon after, leaving the Tech dragonets almost as mindless husks as they were created.
However, some dragonets with a strong enough dragon's soul in them, they can free themselves from the control of their queen, and the masters she follows. Leaving Smog Isle will leave them a Rogue, to wander the ground of Pyyrhia. Any loyal TechWing who spots a Rogue will dismantle them on sight.
Naming More often than not, TechWings' names are given to them by their queen, and are named after machinery components, or things regarding sheep (due to their horn shape being like that of a ram)
Facts
Techwings get energy from the sun. The underside of their wing membranes double as solar panels to collect energy. This is their primary source of fuel. If they run out of it, they will power down, wings folded, until another dragon pries them open to the sun again.
While some TechWings are fitted with heart monitors, motion sensors, night vision, water pumps, etc etc etc. All TechWings are equipped with, at the very least, a fuel gauge telling them when they need to recharge, which can be located anywhere on their body, so long as the dragon is able to quickly glance at it without too much trouble.
Not all TechWings are trained killers or personal servants for the normal dragon hierarchy. Some lower than the others in the social order are tasked with cleaning. They collect dragons' bodies, put out forest fires, and clear out pest nests dotted across Pyyrhia.
TechWings without souls can be bought and programmed to a specific dragon's needs or voice commands. This means they will never be able to go Rogue.
Instead of being hatched through eggs, any TechWing couple wishing to have children, must build one with spare parts, meaning that TechWings aren't necessarily built like the ones above. However, in order to function, and live with a soul, a new dragonet must be equipped with a Soul Cache, a wirey cage that all TechWings have in their bodies to hold a soul. Without it, they cannot have a soul, and therefore cannot think, feel, or grow physically. Soul Caches can only be obtained (or stolen) from the queen. While many have tried the latter, the vault that holds each Soul Cache is heavily guarded with elite TechWings.
Okay, that's all I got right now. Closed species. I might not make ones specifically for ya'll, but I might put a few up for adoption.
