Barricade watched as Tanya hesitated, her face scrunched in confusion. An aggravated sigh sounded from his radio, and he shifted on his tires.
'What is taking you so long?' He grumbled over the bond he shared with Tanya. 'I told you we need to leave. Now.' He had no time to wait for Tanya to make up her mind. He needed to get her to base, and he needed to do it as soon as possible.
Tanya sends him a glare as she crosses her arms over her chest with an angry huff. 'Well excuse me, Mr.Hardaft.' She fires back. 'But as you can see, I'm helping Sam pack for college. And then I'm leaving with them.' Barricade could only sigh at her words, sinking down on his axles.
He knew all to well that she was leaving today, and he's known for the past year since Tanya received her acceptance letter from Princeton.
He couldn't help but find it somewhat ironic that both Sam and Tanya got accepted into the same school, but he had a feeling Optimus was behind it.
And after the message they received in Shanghai, he was glad they were going to the same school.
Besides, Tanya would need Sam by her side when...a growl vibrated inside his cab at the very though of what would come.
'I do not care,' He nearly growls. 'We are leaving. Now!' Barricade watches Tanya visibly jump, and his spark sank. He hated scaring her like this, but they really did need to leave. 'Please, Sweetspark.' He murmurs quietly.
||Tanya's P.O.V.||
With stiff muscles I face Ron and Judy. "I have to go...they need me apparently." I grumble, a deep frown making its way onto my face.
What crawled up Barricade's ass and died?
"Really? At a time like this?" Ron asks, he too sporting a frown. That's what I'm thinking, Ron. The entire base knows I'm leaving for college today.
Hell, we celebrated two freaking days ago! There's no way in hell they forgot! And yet, here they are, demanding my presence.
"I don't know why they need me," I mumble, sending Barricade another sour look. "They know today is an important day for me." Judy steps forward, placing a hand gently on my shoulder.
"Tai-Dye," Damn my stupid nickname. "If they need you, then go. You an always meet us there." I look up at Judy, smiling slightly.
"Thanks for understanding, Judes." I murmur. Maybe Judy can be serious for once.
"Good! While you're gone I'll hold this for you!" You know what? Forget what I said, the Witwicky cannot have a single, solitary serious moment.
"Gee, thanks." I grumble, huffing as she stole my bra from out of my hand....again.
"Of course Sweety! Now go!" My shoulders sag and I send Ron a pleading look. Maybe he can save me from-
"It's alright kiddo, go to them." Ron says, smiling down at me.
I swear some people just want to watch the world burn.
"I hate you all." I mutter as I slowly walk towards Barricade, sending Sam and Mik one last glance, hoping they would help me.
"See ya later Tai!" Sam shouts while Mik sends me a wave.
Assholes.
"Fuck you too!" I shout, flipping him off as I near Barricade; Sam's laughter filling my ears as I reached his driver's side.
The door opened upon my arrival and I hop into Barricade with an annoyed huff. "Care to tell me why I'm needed?" I mumble, looking out the window as the seat belt clicked into place.
"I can only tell you that you're needed." Barricade's voice rumbles from the radio, and I roll my eyes at his reply.
"Thanks, that really answers my question." I grumble, sinking down into the seat.
They want to drag me away on the day I leave for college, and I can't even get a damn answer as to why I'm even needed.
'I'm sure it's nothing serious.' Sparky assures me as Barricade's engine roars to life.
'Really? Whenever it comes to them it's always something serious.' I mumble.
Though I hate to admit it, it's true. Whenever the Bots need to see me it's always because something happened, and it nearly always involves me.
I swear, you kill an evil War Lord and all of the sudden the Cons want your head on a gold platter. The worst part is I don't even get a warning, or a "Hello".
Nope, they send in one of the Bots with a message saying "You're needed at base.". Sometimes I wish they would tell me when something went wrong, and not wait until the last minute and be like "Oh you know, the Cons attacked and want you dead. But no big deal right? We got your back!"
I mean, we're all in this together...Right? I'm there to help them whenever they need it, and they're to help me if I need it.
I'm sure they wouldn't keep something important from me.
....Right?
~*~
Darkness, so much darkness. Like a blanket it covered me, and like a noose...it choked me.
"Tanya." My ears ring as that one word entered them, the powerful sound vibrating within my head.
"Fey." I try to find the source of the sound, yet to no prevail. The darkness that I swim in has me frozen in place. I can only float in place as I listen.
"Wess." That name...that horrid name makes me flinch.
"Who are you?!" I scream into the darkness seeing as it's the only thing I can do.
"Wess." It repeats, the horrid name making my heart skip a beat.
And to think, I only wanted to take a damn nap.
"Why do you keep repeating that horrid name?" I ponder aloud, trying my best to keep the disgust out of my voice; hoping it would keep the being that holds me here from repeating it once again.
"Hillary Wess." I feel my right eye flare red at the mentioning of that woman, the woman I once thought of as a mother.
"Bill Wess."
"Can you shut the fuck up?!" I growl as I struggle to move. Whoever has me trapped here is obviously an ass.
"Bill Wess." The voice repeats, although this time I can clearly make it out as a male's voice.
"Stop!" I scream. "Stop repeating that name!"
"Bill." I snarl, my right eye flaring brighter. "Wess."
"I SAID STOP!" My voice rings throughout the darkness, the sound surprisingly louder than I thought it would be.
"Freedom." I blink, staring into the blackness in confusion.
"Barricade." Barricade? Why would this being mention him?
"Betrayal." The word was a mere whisper in the darkness, and it only made the confusion worse.
"Why? Why are you telling me this?!" And why the hell can you only speak in one or two word sentences? Even Sam can do better. And he's a spazz!
"Soon." So the voice actually responded to my question, even though its one word answer didn't tell me shit.
Before I could question the mysterious voice further, another voice sliced through the darkness.
"Tanya." This time though, I was able to make out who it was. "Tanya wake up."
Barricade...
"Slaggit, Tanya! Wake up!" I yelp as the darkness faded, being replaced with bright light.
"I'm up!" I jerk forward, nearly hitting my head on Barricade's steering wheel. With a yawn I stretch my aching muscles, blinking as my eyes got used to the light.
"It's about time you woke up." Barricade's voice grumbles from the radio, annoyance lacing his words. I roll my eyes as I look out the window, my brain attempting to figure out where the hell we are.
"Barricade," I mumble as I lean forward. "Why are we...on a boat?" The sound of water filtered into my ears, and the smell of fish wafted in the air.
"It's the only way we can reach Diego Garcia." He replies as the boat's horn sounded.
Oh..that's right. The Autobot's base is located on a island.
In the middle of the freaking Indian Ocean.
"Right...almost forgot about that." I mumble as I sit back in my seat.
I hate the smell of fish just as much as the next guy, but hey. If it means I get to see them again, along with my dad, then I can manage smelling fish for a few minutes.
~*~
I said I can handle the smell of fish for a few minutes, not an entire fucking hour.
"Are we there yet?" I mumble through a groan as I hold my nose. "The smell is making me sick!" I bang my head on the driver's door window, my stomach twisting in knots as the smell gets worse...if that's even possible.
"For the fifth time, Tanya, yes. We are almost there." Barricade replies, groaning. I don't care if I'm annoying the hell out of him, if I don't get off this damn boat in the next five minutes I'm going to puke.
"I'm going to be sick," I groan, my arms wrapped tightly around my stomach. "Tell them to hurry it up!"
"Tanya." I only groan in reply.
"Tanya." I send his radio a glare, groaning once again as whatever is in my stomach attempts to push its way up my throat.
"Tanya." I growl as I slap his radio harshly.
"What?!"
"We're here." As soon as the words left the stereo I shove open his door, jumping out of his alt. mode.
"Fresh air!" I fall to my knees, quickly placing a hand over my mouth as I felt bile rise in my throat.
"Happy now?" I shake my head, my other arm holding my stomach as the bile continues to rise in my throat.
"Sweetspark?" I barely notice Barricade's holoform kneel by my side; too focused on not puking all over the place. "Are you alright?" I shake my head, turning away.
"Tany....." Barricade's voice trails off as everything that I had consumed only hours before...spews out of my mouth.
"Tanya!"
I'm never eating fish again.
~*~
Once I was finished puking my guts out, and Barricade had cleaned his shoes off, we started making our way towards base.
"Do not do that ever again. Do you hear me?" Barricade growls, his holoform's face scrunched in disgust.
"Don't make me ride a boat that smells like fish." I retort from the back. I had insisted that I lay in the back..to avoid puking again.
I'm happy to say Barricade immediately agreed.
Barricade only huffs as he slows to a stop, his holoform fizzling out of existence. "Get out." He mumbles. I roll my eyes as I sit up, scratching my head as I look out the window.
From what I can see the base hasn't changed that much since my last visit. Good...now I won't get lost.
"Are you coming with?" I ask I step out, straightening my clothes out. Barricade hesitated, his alt. mode rocking side to side slightly.
"I.." He sighs. "I can't." That causes me to frown. I didn't think Barricade would be busy today, especially if he had to come get me. "I..have somewhere to be."
"Oh?" I raise my eyebrows at his alt. mode. "Where?" I ask. There's a moment of silence and I have to take a step back as his holoform suddenly popped up right in front of me.
"Tanya," He says quietly, cupping my hands with his. "Can you promise me something?" I stare at our hands and then up at him; confusion clearly shown on my face.
"O-of course." I mumble as I stare into his eyes. "What?"
He sighs, bringing my right hand up to to cup his face, his left hand covering my right. "Promise me," He murmurs. "That no matter what happens, you'll trust me."
That's a strange request. "Barricade, I'll always trust you...no matter what." I say softly, smiling up at him.
A small smile made its way onto his face. "Promise?" I nod, stepping forward so I could hug him around his waist.
"I promise, Barricade." I smile as his arms wrapped around me in a tight hug. We stand there, holding each other for a few minutes, and I don't bother to let go.
"Huh?" I look up at Barricade in confusion. "Did you say something?" I could have sworn he said something.
"Nothing," He shakes his head, his arms releasing me as he stepped back. "I..better go Sweetspark." I nod silently as I watch him send me one last smile before his holoform disappears; his engine roaring to life.
"Bye...Barricade." I whisper as I watch his alt. mode speed away, dust being the only thing left behind.
With a frown I turn around and start making my way towards where I felt the Bots, my eyes glued to the ground.
I swear...he said something.
But what?
~*~
'Hi guys.' I chirp over the bonds I created, new and old. 'So what's this meeting about?' As I stepped into the Main Hangar I immediately noticed Optimus, his huge form easily seen from my spot on the ground.
I also can't help but notice a man I've never met before. His suit, blue tie, and the gold name tag, was all I needed to know he was from the government. The look on his face though, gave away the fact that he's a dick.
More importantly, he's a government dick.
Those are the worst.
"-But last night's encounter came with a warning." I blinked as Optimus' words finally met my ears.
Last night's encounter? Don't tell me the 'Cons are at it again. And warning? What the hell does that mean?
"The Fallen shall rise again," I'm guessing the Fallen is someone who fell on his ass...or is someone completely different. But hey, I'm just taking a guess here.
"And the Wess child shall be ours." My blood runs cold at those words, my breathing hitching in my throat.
So this is what Barricade meant when he said they needed me.
Well...shit.
