The Training Begins
It was just that evening of their first day at school again after the Kaiju invasion at the homecoming. The school bell rang and everyone was starting to head home while Duncan walked his way towards a certain school bus where Colonel Barnes waited for him to take him to his father's lair.
"Hey Blitz. Having a busy day, huh? I gotta admit the gym class is more fun with you around than with a normal teacher," Duncan jokingly said, making Barnes rolled his eyes slightly with a smile. "Enough with your jokes, kid. As much as I like getting physical with the students, I don't have time to stick around as a gym teacher and watch you all the time when I know you can stay out of trouble yourself. Besides, we're running late with trying to stay on top of all that nonsense down in Australia. And you know how Belloc gets when he's kept waiting, so hop on with it, kid. We gotta fly," Blitz and was about to get into the school bus, into his secret jet with Duncan following him until they heard someone called, "Duncan!"
They turned around to see (Y/n) standing there, panting heavily which told Duncan that she ran all the way here, "(Y/n)?" The (h/c) haired girl caught her breath and smiled brightly as she looked up to meet his eyes. "Be careful on your way and see you when you're back, okay? I'll miss you!" she called out cheerfully with a wave and a warm smile that makes Duncan's heart skip a beat. He smiled and waved back at her, mouthing her that he will miss her too which made (Y/n)'s eyes widened as she understood what he said. She smiled and watched them leave with the hidden jet in the school bus, only turning to leave when the jet disappeared into the distance and out of her sight.
Unknown to (Y/n), Duncan was also doing the same, watching her affectionately with a smile from inside of the jet until he couldn't see her anymore. He sighed happily, leaning back in his seat unaware of Colonel Barnes watching him with a knowing grin. "Look at that huge dorky grin on your face, kid. So, things are going well with you and (Y/n) since the homecoming, huh?" he asked, making Duncan look at him. "Uhh...yea, we're just taking it one step at a time," Duncan said, putting his bag down just beside his seat while Blitz hummed in response as he continued to keep his eyes on the route ahead of him, "You should put seat belt on, kid," he said, quickly glancing at Duncan from the mirror and a few moments of the ride passed in silence for a while before Blitz started to speak once again. "Oh right, listen, junior. Now that you have a girlfriend and all, and seeing as you're without a male influence in the house, your mother asked me to have a little talk with you...even though I am not much of a father figure," he said, making Duncan's eyes widened in disbelief as he mumbled, "Oh no."
"Oh come on, kid. Stop, overreacting . You're becoming a grown man. It's nothing, but about facts of life and uhh...about the birds and the bees. No need to be shy."
"This is gonna be awkward."
"Oh, you have no idea. So, have any questions?"
"No!"
"So, you know all about the penis and the va-"
"Yes!"
"And how the sperm gets to-"
"Yes!" Duncan said, accidently raising his voice when he started to sense something in his mind while Blitz hummed and continued, "And you know about the masturbation-?"
"What's that?"
"Well, it's a perfectly natural and healthy-"
"NO! THAT! WHAT'S THAT?!" Duncan yelled as he ran up to Blitz's driver seat, pointing at the one-eyed monsters with wings and sharp fangs that just emerged out of the sand. "What the fu-hell?"
(The monsters look like this in the comic. I am posting it just in case you guys want to know what they look like and it doesn't belong to me)
The two yelled when one of the monsters started attacking their jet. Barnes immediately turned the plane around and soon, they found their selves flying around between the monsters that kept trying to attack them like crazy.
"Strap yourself in, kid!" Blitz yelled between driving the jet and dodging the monsters while Duncan fell back into his seat, losing his balance. "I don't know how long I can keep this-" Barnes yelled once again, but before he could finish his sentence, one of the monsters managed to pierce their jet with its incredibly sharp tail, destroying all the main systems of the plane. "Aw, damn it! Everything's gone. Better hang on, kid. We're gonna eject!" Barnes yelled and quickly pulled the ejection ring beside his seat without waiting for a reply, sending their seats out just as the plane exploded.
Duncan yelled as he started to fall down since he didn't exactly wear his seat belt like Blitz said and despite all the chaos that happened, it's a mystery how he still managed to school bag and still hold onto it while falling down. Luckily, he didn't have to crash down to the ground like he used to anymore. Duncan's clothes started to tear apart on his back as he started to go under his kaiju transformation and he groaned when a familiar pair of dragon wings grew out from his back at his will. Just as he was about to hit the ground, Duncan swiftly managed to lift himself in the air and landed gracefully on his own feet, saving himself from crashing hard into the ground. He let out a soft sigh in relief and looked at his school bag in his hand unable to believe that he still somehow managed to hold onto it despite the plane explosion and that it's still somehow intact in one piece. "Getting a hang of your new wings, huh? For a second there, I forgot that I don't have to worry about you crashing anymore," he heard Blitz said and looked behind him to see him landing not too far away from him.
"What can I say? Gotta use them to the fullest, right?"
Before they could continue and talk any further, Duncan and Barnes heard a growling sound of a beast and looked up to see Belloc walking up towards them. Barnes narrowed his eyes, glaring up at the King of the Kaiju, "What the hell were those things, Belloc?"
"Heh, my regrets. I'm experiencing with defense systems for my new lair. They were Micronesian Totem Spirits. They have dissipated, no need to worry."
"Well, your defense system almost killed me and your son here," Barnes said, crossing his arms as he rolled his eyes at Belloc's words who huffed in return.
"Nonsense. My son is made of sterner stuff than you can imagine, Barnes. Aren't you, Duncan?" Belloc said, making Duncan shrug his shoulders slightly, "Err...I guess," he said, awkwardly agreeing with his father's words. "And what about my jets? You can't just keep destroying them every time we meet. I am out about more than a hundred million bucks here," Barnes said, sounding quite unpleased while Belloc said nothing. They watched him took out a drawing tube with his clawed fingers, "I have anticipated my obligation," Belloc said and dropped the tube in front of Barnes and Duncan before he continued, "A Van Gogh."
"A heretofore unknown companion to 'The Starry Night.' Though I believe this piece is superior. Even with a standard auction house commission, it should more than cover your costs, Barnes," Belloc said, watching Barnes picked up the tube from the ground.
Blitz took out a piece of painting from inside and examined it before humming in amusement, "Not bad. Not bad."
"I trust this is settled then. Come, Duncan," Belloc simply said and turned to leave while Blitz turned back to Duncan, keeping the painting back in the tube. "I'll be back to pick you up Sunday night, junior. Remember to take it easy, alright?" he said and Duncan smiled as he shrugged his shoulders lightly once again, "I will try." Barnes smiled and started to walk away, waving at Duncan while doing so as he pressed the speaker on his watch, "This is Barnes to HQ. I want a jet to pick me up in Quadrant 14 at the south perimeter."
"Roger that. Should we send in a recovery team, sir?"
"Nah, he's just working the bugs out of his new defense systems. Besides, it's only 20 miles to the perimeter, I feel like walking today," Barnes said and started walking away into the desert while keeping his gun ready at hand.
Meanwhile, Duncan followed his father into his new lair which was full of treasures, valuable paintings of all kinds and statues of all kinds from ancient times. A huge fireplace lies in the middle of Belloc's enormous cave and Duncan stared at the strange alphabets craved around the fireplace before he looked around at the rest of the mysterious collection of his father's. "Looks like you straightened the place up a little, huh?" he said. His eyes landed on one of the paintings of a woman holding an infant nearby, "Is that a Davinci? I don't remember seeing that before," he started, looking at the painting which was similar to one of the famous works of the great Leonardo Da Vinci's.
"I just rotated it in from the eastern horde," Belloc said, making Duncan wonder about how many territories his father has, "Uh, yea, but, I mean, I haven't seen it anywhere like in history books."
"No man has for the last 300 years. And now, Duncan," Belloc trailed and without saying anything more, he started breathing fire at Duncan who wasn't expecting it, "What the-!!" He groaned out loudly as the fire disappeared and when he opened his eyes again, Duncan found himself back catching his breathe in his Kaiju form with his
"That's better."
"Urgh, dad! You could've just told me to change instead," Duncan said, brushing some ash off of his shoulder as he looked down at his burnt down school bag behind him, "Great..."
"The humans are crafty. Their android technology improves daily. I had to be sure that you are truly the fruit of my loin, Duncan."
"Yeah, well. My fruit of the looms and my school bag are all fried now," Duncan said, making Belloc huffed. "Humph, human trappings! I have raiment befitting you forged by armorers who would make Hephaestus himself envious," he said, making Duncan slightly roll his eyes, "Whatever, my homework was in that backpack. You going to write me a note or something," he said, saying the last part a bit sarcastically while Belloc lowered himself closer to his son's level with a mischievous kind of grin forming up on his face. "Homework? Haha, yes, I have homework of a sort for you, my son. Lessons for those born to rule!" Belloc said, making the ground shake slightly at the sudden raise of tone in his voice. He picked up Duncan in his hand and looked at him straight in the eyes, never breaking the eye contact even for a blink.
"You will be tested, Duncan," Belloc said, pointing his finger at Duncan who was listening to him in silence as he made sure to emphasize each and every word he's saying. "And death itself will be your judge!"
