Clearing Things Up

(Y/n) gracefully parked the car outside of Kenny's trailer which was outside of the town as she turned off the engine. "Well, we're here. Let's go check on Kenny and Isabel now, shall we?" she asked, turning to smile at Duncan who's been sitting beside her in the passenger seat.

Duncan smiled and nodded, watching his girlfriend took the car keys out of the hole. He took the cupcakes hey picked up for Kenny in his hand while (Y/n) grabbed the small bouquet from the backseat. They got off the car just as Isabel opened the door of Kenny's trailer. "Oh, hey (N/n)! Hey Duncan!you're here. Come on in. Kenny, they're here!" Isabel said as she headed back inside after motioning the couple to come in. Duncan and (Y/n) shared a look before they smiled and headed inside. "(Y/n), Duncan, hey," Kenny greeted as he sat up straight on the sofa. "Hey Kenny. How are you getting on?" Duncan asked, stepping inside the trailer while he closed the door behind him. "I'm doing great, bro. Compared to what happened to you, it's not so bad. How about you, bro?" Kenny asked to Duncan while (Y/n) smiled as she gently took the cupcake box from Duncan's hand and smiled at him before walking towards the kitchen where Isabel was at as she left the two guys to talk. After all, she wasn't the only one to clear up the awkwardness between their friends.

"I am fine," Duncan said as he took a seat beside Kenny on the sofa while he noticed (Y/n) and Isabel talk in the kitchen as well. An awkward silence passed between the two guys sat together in the trailer. "Kenny, about what happened...at the homecoming..." Duncan slowly started and Kenny shook his head as he looked at Duncan in the eyes. "I know. I am sorry I told everyone about your-"

"No. I'm the one who should be sorry, Kenny. None of it wouldn't have happened if I had made things clear from the start," Duncan apologized, cutting Kenny off while Kenny shook his head once again. "Still...I shouldn't have said that, bro. No matter how jealous I was...I shouldn't have done that to a friend," Kenny said and Duncan weakly smiled at the word 'friend.'
"I guess we all had a pretty rough homecoming, huh?" Duncan asked, gently nudging Kenny's arm which caused him to snicker a bit. "But seriously, Ken. Don't worry about Isabel and me. There's nothing going on between us. I can promise you that and besides..." Duncan trailed as his eyes moved to where (Y/n) was. A smile made its way to Duncan's face as he watched her talk with Isabel with that beautiful smile of hers. "I already have someone very special by my side," Duncan said, watching (Y/n) with a smile. Kenny rose a brow as he looked at where Duncan was looking before he turned back to his friend. "Someone very special, huh? So, it's official now? You and (Y/n)?" he asked, making Duncan look back at him.

"Y-Yea, we are," Duncan replied with a slightly sheepish smile while Kenny smiled at his words. "Cool, bro. So, how did it happen? What even happened that night after those monsters attacked?" Kenny started asking and Duncan smiled as he started filling his friend in about what happened at the night of the homecoming.

Meanwhile, with (Y/n) and Isabel,

"There. Now they look fresh," (Y/n) said with a very happy smile as she finished dropping a few droplets of water on the small bouquet of roses she brought for Kenny.

"That looks refreshing. You sure know how to pick the flowers, (Y/n). One of the things I'll never understand," Isabel said with a smile while (Y/n) smiled and dried her hand as she turned to face her best friend fully.

"Now that the flowers are taken care of...can you tell me why you've been avoiding me now?" the (h/c) haired girl asked, making Isabel freeze for a second before she forced up at her friend. "What? No. You know I can never avoid you," Isabel said, still avoiding any eye contact with her best friend.

A thin smile appeared on (Y/n)'s face, knowing that her best friend was indeed still avoiding her even though they were together right now. She wasn't gonna let this terribly awkward silence stay between them forever. "Is this because of what happened at the homecoming?" she bluntly asked, not willing to beat around the bush any further than she already had.

"What? No! Of course not!"

"Isabel..."

"What? I'm serious."

"Isabel Vasques..." (Y/n) said once again, raising her brow as she crossed her arms.

"*sigh* Fine...I was kinda avoiding you and Duncan. Gosh, I hate it when you do that," Isabel said with a soft sigh, finally giving in while (Y/n) smiled, happy that her best friend finally admitted the truth.

"Okay, so tell me. Is it because of what Kenny said? That you like Duncan?"

"...Yes."

"So...is it true?"

"Well...yea, kinda. I'm not gonna lie, (n/n). I did have a crush on Duncan and trust me, I'm not gonna fight with you over a boy. It's just..." Isabel trailed while (Y/n) smiled knowingly. "You don't know how you feel?" she asked with a genuine smile, making Isabel finally look at her in the eyes. "Yea. It's just...when I saw him at the homecoming in a...different way, I felt confused. And I was scared. Not scared of Duncan, obviously. I mean, he saved our lives so, I know he would never do anything that means harm to us. It's just...I don't see myself with him as more than just a friend if you know...crazy stuffs like Kaiju things go on. We're just...too different," Isabel said while (Y/n) patiently listen to her friend open up to her.

"Mmm, I see," was all she said as she turned back to her small bouquet of flowers for Kenny. "So, you and Duncan, huh? Is it official now?" Isabel asked with a genuine smile, making (Y/n) smile back at her. "Yea. We are," she said as she took the cupcake box out of the bag. "I'm glad for you two, really," Isabel said, putting a hand on (Y/n)'s shoulder as the two of them smiled at each other.

"Thanks...but, seriously...are you sure you're okay, now?" the (h/c) haired girl asked, still not fully convinced about her best friend. "Positive! Besides, Ken and I have sorted a few things out as well and is kinda leading to something," Isabel said, making (Y/n) smiled. "Something, huh? Are you finally giving him a chance?" she asked, making Isabel at her words. "Hey. The future isn't set in stone, you know?" she said and the two girls giggled before another silence fell in between them. But this time, a comfortable silence.

"Hey," Isabel softly called, making (Y/n) look back at her. "We're cool, right?" she asked slowly holding her fist out. (Y/n) smiled and warmly and returned the fist bump her best friend was offering. "More than cool, Isa," she said and the two girls smiled as they continue to chat for a while like they've always done. "Come on, let's get these back to the boys," (Y/n) said, motioning to the cupcake boxes and the flowers. Isabel grabbed the small bouquet in her hands while (Y/n) grabbed the cupcake boxes as the two of them headed back to where Duncan and Kenny was.

"Well, well, looks like you two are having a great conversation as well. How're you doing, Kenny?" (Y/n) asked as she set the table down in front of them along with the cupcake boxes. "I'm doing great, (n/n). The doctor said that I should be fine as long as I avoid doing stuffs that involves getting in too much activity. I should be able to get back to school by Thursday if I avoid carrying heavy things like he said," Kenny said, making (Y/n) smiled as she set the cupcake box down on the table while Isabel set down the small bouquet of flowers on the table as well. "That's good news. Thank goodness, nothing more than that happened. Oh, Duncan and I got you some flowers. Thought that you use some colors around here and...we got you some cupcakes~! Your favorite," (Y/n) said and opened the cupcake boxes, making Kenny and Isabel's eyes widened in awe at what they saw inside.

"Cookie dough cupcakes!" (Y/n) said excitedly, making Duncan chuckled, finding  her extremely adorable. "Dang, thanks, (N/n)! You are the best! You know me so well!" Kenny said, grabbing one of the cupcakes as he started eating it.

"Come on, dig in as well!" he said, still eating the cupcake in his hand happily while motioning the others to join in. Duncan, Isabel and (Y/n) chuckled as they grabbed one for their selves and started eating it as well. (Y/n) smiled at Duncan as she went to sit on the sofa's arm beside Duncan's. "So, who's up for some movies today?"

Time skips,

"Thanks for driving me back home, (Y/n)," Duncan said, unfastening his seat belt as he turned to his girlfriend who's stopped the car in front of his house after a long movie date with their friends. "No worries. I see you on Monday?" (Y/n) asked while Duncan smiled and nodded. "See you on, Monday," he said and leaned into her seat and gave her a quick kiss on the lips. "Good night," he said with a dorky smile, seeing (Y/n) blush. "Good night," she said and he smiled at her one last time before he got out of the car and started heading towards his front door.

(Y/n)'s pov,

I smiled and watched Duncan walked towards his house from my car. He looked back slightly and smiled as he waved at me warmly. I blushed and waved back at him before I started the car again and started heading back to my own house.

Not too long after five minutes, I reached back to my house and saw that the lights were on. Huh, I guess dad's home today.

It was already 9 P. M and I was sure that he'd be worried if I'm late more than that so, I quickly parked the car back to where it belongs and quickly headed into the house. "Dad, are you at home?" I yelled into the house as I took off my shoes.

"In the living room, sweetheart!" I heard him yelled back and I smiled as I headed towards where he was. I saw him sitting on the sofa with a book and a small cup of coffee in his hand. "Hey honey! How was your day today?" dad asked while I smiled and sat down beside him. "Late night coffee isn't good for you, dad. And yes, I had a fun day, hanging out with my friends. Duncan and I went to check on Kenny and Isabel today. Luckily, Kenny didn't get hurt too much. He should be able to make it to school by Thursday if he avoids getting into too much activity," I said, making him smile as he put down his cup. "That's good to hear. I take it that all of you have finally sorted things out now considering you had a fun day at Kenny's place?" he asked, making me smile happily. "We sure did. Hey dad, umm...listen, I have a favor to ask," I started slowly and dad raised a brow, immediately knowing that I was up to something.

"Okayy, I know that look. So, what's up?"

I smiled cheekily at my dad's words as I started telling him about my plan that I needed his help with. After all, I want to make Duncan has the best birthday ever this year.
