A Not So Normal Teenage Stuffs
Your pov,
I sighed happily as I stretched myself in the girl's locker room. I walked towards my locker and gulped down some water while the other girls around me and gossiped and talked about random things. Just as I opened my locker and was about to get my clothes...
"Hey (Y/n), can I have a word with you for a second?" I heard Jenna said as she walked up to me. "Sure, what's up?" I said, giving her a warm smile as I closed my locker back for a second.
Jenna looked around before coming close to me and whispered, "I think you might have been right about Troy's lackeys hanging around my locker." I narrowed my eyes, sensing that something must have happened. "Did something happen?" I asked and she nodded.
"Lucky I did as you suggested and moved the money to somewhere else after I got your note. I found some traces on my locker as if someone has punched it," Jenna said with a freaked out expression and I sighed. "Those jerks are getting out of hand. Try to keep the money somewhere safe instead of the lockers for the time being. I have a feeling they hang around at places they shouldn't be at after school lately. You know how smart they are at the wrong places," I said and Jenna nodded as she smiled, "Thanks (Y/n). I don't even want to know what might have happened if you weren't looking out for me," Jenna said, making me smile as I opened my locker once again. "That's what friends are for," I said and suddenly, she had this sly smile on her face like Isabel.
Oh boy, here we go.
"So, how's it going with that boy? Duncan, right?" she asked, making me raise a brow.
"What do you mean how it's going? We're just friends," I answered and she chuckled, "Right. So, you are saying you are going to friend-zone him?" she said, making me confused even more. "Friend-zone? What are you talking about? It's not like Duncan and I have something going on. We just met yesterday. Besides, he fancies you," I said with a shrug and Jenna looked at me with wide eyes.
"Are you kidding me? No! You're the one he fancies," she said, making me chuckle as I shook my head. "Shut up. What's up with you and Isabel today? You guys are saying the same thing for once." I said, shaking my head with a smile as I grabbed a towel. Isabel and I had the same familiar conversation about something going on between me and Duncan this morning after Isabel saw us walking to school together.
"I mean it. His eyes were on you the whole time when you made that little stunt of yours on Troy yesterday and this morning as well," Jenna said, making my eyes widened as I slammed my locker shut in disbelief, ignoring how heat rushed towards my cheeks at her words.
"He saw that?!"
Jenna chuckled and smirked at my expression as she crossed her arms and leaned on the locker beside mine. "Yep. He wasn't listening to me anymore until I mentioned about you," Jenna said which caused me to start blushing while Jenna chuckled at my reaction.
"He's all yours, (N/n). See ya," she said and left before I could say anything. I hear Isabel laughed as she walked pass by me. "See? I told you I wasn't the only one who sees that way. Even Jenna is saying the same thing," she said, winking at me as she walked away. Before I knew it, I was left alone in the girl's locker room, blushing a mess. Oh my god, Duncan saw that? And he isn't into Jenna?! And why am I blushing?! The heat must be getting to me. Ahaha, that's right. A quick shower will do the trick!
I grabbed my towels and quickly rushed into one of the shower rooms, trying to ignore my red face and my heart that was starting to beat so fast.
After a few minutes later,
I sighed as I finally calmed down after splashing myself with water. I don't have any class at the moment so, I guess I'll drop by the library to look for some books.
I put on my clothes and grabbed my stuffs while I listened to some yelling from outside.
"All right, ladies, line up!" That sounds like our new gym teacher, Blitz. The guys must have already arrived for a game of dodge-ball. I got out of the locker room just to see Troy and his gang bullying the other players. I rolled my eyes unable to believe they're actually our school's team to begin with. Soon, there were only Duncan and Kenny left among of all players while I decided to hang around and moved to somewhere where I can get a good view of everything and of course, without Coach Barnes spotting me otherwise he would send me back to class.
"Up yours, Troy! Unh!" Kenny said as he picked up a ball and threw it at Troy who simply dodged it easily without any effort. Kenny frowned while Troy's gang snickered as Troy smirked.
"Time to take out the trash...the trailer trash!" he said, making me boil with anger. Why you!
"You really are the King of jerk wads," Kenny said, standing up on his ground as he glared at Troy who laughed at his words. "It's good to be the king," Troy said and laughed, signaling his friends to shoot at Kenny who frowned. This is getting too far! Just as they shot two balls full speed at Kenny, I jumped down and was about to step in until...
"ENOUGH!" Duncan yelled as he stepped in front of Kenny and caught both the balls, stopping them easily as he made everyone startled in surprise except from Troy and Blitz. Troy cracked his neck and let out a mocking grin as his eyes fell on Duncan who had a very serious frown on his face. Troy smirked and threw his ball at Duncan while his lackeys did the same as they all started throwing balls at Duncan. "Duncan!" I called worried, but to my surprise, he punched back all the balls they threw at him with ease to different directions while holding the two balls he caught earlier ago. Huh, impressive. He hit the two balls together and got back into the pose that challenges more, making Troy and his gang confused, "Huh??"
"You might want to stay back if you want to watch, Miss (L/n)," I heard Coach Barnes said, making me flinch. Right, I just gave myself away earlier ago. I laughed nervously and went to stand beside him while continuing to watch Duncan. Troy ordered his team to spread out and shoot at Duncan from different directions. They all started shooting and once again, Duncan beautifully moved his way as he punched them all back beautifully still holding the two balls he has, leaving me feeling excited. I watched, amazed as Duncan stood back straight and extended out his hand with his brow rose.
Troy growled and shot a ball at Duncan with full speed. Surprising everyone once again, Duncan chuckled and caught it using the two balls he had and now, he has three balls.
The other boys who got hit earlier ago started cheering, encouraging Duncan while I jumped excitedly and did the same. "Haha, yes! Go for it Duncan!"
"How did he do that?"
Duncan said nothing as he smiled and simply dropped the ball before he started bouncing the three balls all together at the same time, and I watched in awe, enchanted by how his hands moved.
Troy growled and signaled his team to spread out once again as he fixed his eyes on Duncan who had been doing the same to him. It went on like this for a minute as all eyes fell on Duncan. Troy growled and watched Duncan, ready to catch before Duncan finally threw a ball with full speed towards Troy who jumped up high, dodging it and while he fell back to the floor, Duncan didn't waste a second as he threw the second ball at Troy, hitting him square in the face. Troy flew back towards the basketball board and hit his head pretty hard as he fell back down to the floor. I cringed as I watched the two balls Duncan threw earlier ago bounced into the ring and fell down straight towards Troy's face twice.
Ooh...that's gonna hurt.
Troy mumbled under his breath and sat up, holding his head. His eyes fell on Duncan who was jumping playfully while bouncing the third ball in his hand with just one hand. Duncan chuckled and threw the ball in the end before he spun around and caught back it, throwing it straight towards at Troy who shrieked and quickly held his hands out to cover his face. Someone moved past me in a flash and the next second I know, Blitz was in front of Troy, holding the ball Duncan threw just in front of Troy.
"Troy, catch with your hands! Not your face," he said and everyone started snickering and laughing at his words. I chuckled and walked towards Duncan who was simply watching. His smile brightened when he saw me, "Hey (Y/n). Didn't notice you were still around," he said, making me smile back. "Haha, I was just passing by. You led Karma right towards Troy huh? Great game by the way," I said and giggled to myself while Duncan smiled as we started walking away, " You saw?"
"Yep. I can't believe how you managed to bounce three balls at the same time and scored two goals and hit his face thrice in a row. That was like so cool. Can you teach me how to play like that? Pretty please..." I said, putting on my cutest puppy dog eyes on display.
Duncan chuckled at my action and ruffled my hair, "Haha, sure. Maybe sometimes after school." "Yay!" I said, holding my hands out in the air playfully. "How come you are still around?" he asked with an amused smile while I smiled sheepishly, "Haha. Well...ahaha, I am into sports. And...I was about to step in and Coach Blitz found me," I said and Duncan chuckled.
"Haha. At least he didn't give you any punishments. Now, go. I'll catch you up in a bit. You're going to be in the library, right?" Duncan asked and I nodded as he smiled.
"Great. I'll see you there then," he said and waved at me before walking away towards the men's locker room, following the others. "See you!" I yelled back and walked away, happily skipping towards the library.
Time skips,
I walked around the library and walked down the stairs towards the exit. I stopped just when I heard a couple of noises and a door being slammed open. I turned around and saw Duncan sliding down the stairways as he jumped down and stood beside me.
"Hey (Y/n)!" he greeted, making me smile as I closed the book I was reading.
"Hey Duncan, having a parkour in the library?" I teased and he chuckled. But before we could continue our talk, we heard someone yelled, "There he is!"
Duncan and I looked up to see Troy and his lackeys looking right at Duncan and now, coming right towards him. "Oops, gotta go. Later, (Y/n)!" Duncan said as he started running once again and jumped onto a table nearby and in a blink, he was already on the window back at the first floor. He smirked down at Troy and his lackeys who groaned angrily as they continued to chase after him while I watched, amused. Damn, this guy sure is super athletic.
"I like it," I mumbled to myself as I smiled and started running after them, myself. I jumped onto an empty table and followed Duncan's moves as I successfully jumped onto the window like Duncan did. Wait, judging by the way Duncan took, he's gonna be in the cafeteria which is already close! Oh, no. Duncan probably didn't notice that. Luckily, I know a quick shortcut. I immediately started running and jumping as fast as I can. I was pretty athletic myself so, within a minute or two, I reached to the cafeteria, just in time to catch Duncan and Troy all alone in the room as both of them panted heavily while I did the same. "You don't want to fight me," Duncan said heavily through his pants. Something about his eyes seemed to be different.
"Don't worry. It's not going to be a fight, just a beat down!" Troy said with a smirk as he started approaching Duncan who took a step back, glaring at him. "Hey, stop!" I yelled but, they didn't seem to hear me as Troy raised his hand to punch Duncan. I started running towards them to stop Troy. "Leave me alone!" Duncan yelled and suddenly, fire came out of his mouth and Troy gasped as he immediately covered himself while I came to a halt.
DUNCAN CAN BREATHE FIRE?!
"Oh, forget this," Troy said, terrified as he looked at Duncan. Duncan breathed heavily with smoke coming out of his mouth. He panted as he glared at Troy and took another sharp breath which I figured that he was going to breathe out fire at Troy again. Without me knowing, my feet moved on its own and I raced towards Duncan, holding him tight just when he was about to breathe fire once again. "Easy, Duncan! Easy! Shh...calm down," I soothed, holding him tight as Duncan looked startled for a second and stopped, panting. "Breathe...He's not gonna hurt you anymore. Deep breathes, Duncan. Deep breathes," I said, trying to calm him down and it seemed to work as Duncan eventually calmed down. He breathed heavily and gently held me back from my neck, patting my hair.
Just then, our teacher, Coach Blitz appeared out of nowhere as he jumped down towards us and slide smoothly on the floor as he spun around and kicked Troy's legs, causing him to fall down as he stood up again and looked at us as if nothing happened.
"Holy hello, kid. Way to keep a low profile," he said, looking towards Duncan as he stepped onto the little fire burning near our feet, putting it out with his shoes. He doesn't seem to be surprised at what just happened at all. And what does he mean by way to keep a low profile? Does that mean he knew about this?!
"Dude, he breathes fire, man. W-What is he?!" Troy said which caused me to get annoyed. This whole thing was his fault. If he and his lackeys didn't chase Duncan around, this wouldn't have happened! "Just get lost, Troy!" I said with a stern voice, shooting him my death glare as he flinched. Oh, his eyebrows are gone?
...
Well, he does kinda deserves it.
"Get to class now, or you're expelled!" Coach Blitz yelled, narrowing his eyes at Troy who scrambled to his feet and ran away without looking back. "Thanks, (Y/n)," I heard Duncan said as I felt his hot breath on me. I looked up at him to see he was looking at me apologetically.
"What for?" I asked, raising a brow with a smile and he smiled a bit, "For...holding me back, back there while I almost...you know turned into a freak," he mumbled, rubbing the back of his neck nervously as he frowned.
"Hey...you're not a freak, Duncan. The one we'd called a freak just ran away to... wherever he is right now," I said, gently giving his chest a tap which he seems to be even more surprised. "H-How come you're not afraid of me right after you saw what happened?" he asked with his eyes widened. Is that what he was worried about? Me being scared of him?
I smiled and shrugged my shoulders lightly as I took a step closer to him.
"No reason. Just because you breathe fire, doesn't mean I am gonna scream and run away from my friend. Just tell me what's going on and we are cool," I said, gently tapping on his chest again and he really looked surprised even more which makes me remember the conversation we had on how he doesn't make any friends. So, this is why...
"And as for you, Miss (L/n)..." I heard Coach Blitz called and turned my head around to see him looking at me with his narrowed eyes. "Don't worry, I won't tell a soul about what happened. If anyone asks about whatever happened to Troy's eyebrows, just say it's a classic, old gag. Flash powder ignites on contact and poof! Fireworks! You can buy them at any old magic shops," I said, and Coach Blitz rose a brow before he laughed at my words. "Smart lass, I like her," Blitz said, turning towards Duncan as he smiled.
"Come on, kid. Let's go," Blitz said, turning back into a serious face as he started walking away while me and Duncan followed him. "He's not just an ordinary gym teacher, is he?" I asked with a smile and Duncan chuckled as we quietly followed him.
