I won't say it isn't weird. Being alleged friends with James Potter and his cronies. I'm still certain they're messing with me. But after James walked me back to the Ravenclaw common rooms the night of the party, a little earlier than everyone else, he pinky promised he wasn't joking around. And I value my pinky promises.

I was still positive he would confess it was a joke the next time he saw me. I wouldn't be surprised, or even disappointed to be honest. But he didn't.

On Monday morning, he waved at me during breakfast, the four boys still half asleep but still making time to greet me.

To my surprise, I was escorted to potions class by all four boys, proclaiming I had to swap seats and sit with them. When I said no they looked shocked that anyone could possibly decline, but I had fun sitting with Severus regardless.

For the next week I had someone to wave to in the corridors, and smile at in class. We never really spoke, mostly because of time shortages, but also because none of us knew what to say.

"That best not be Maddison White reading on a Saturday evening." I hear a voice haller.

I turn around abruptly in the grassy field, returning from a late night of astronomy classes. The freezing cold breeze of the night sending chills all over my body. Rain soaks my whole body, droplets falling from my nose to my plump lips, glistening my eyelashes.

James is smirking until I turn around, something seems to flip inside him, making him gulp and look up to the starry night sky.

His curly hair sprawled all over his forehead, his quidditch uniform completely soaked. Broom clutched in hand. His Gryffindor quidditch team jumper over his uniform.

"What else should a girl like myself do on a Saturday night other than reading." I shrug innocently.

"How about watch me play some quidditch." He shrugs with a smirk.

"Now why would I do that at 9pm?" I raise a brow. "Cause I need your support. And Remus is tired of watching us play on his own." He informs me.

"I dunno. I might just head to bed and catch it next time. I'm a little cold." I shrug nervously.

"Yeah I know." James mutters. "What?" I furrow my brows curiously.

"Nothing." He's quick to dismiss, instead taking his jumper off and draping it over my shoulders.

I pull it over my thin white shirt, untucking my hair and finally feeling a little warmer.

Dear lord. This girl is going to end me. I threw a hissy fit on the quidditch pitch at Sirius for getting distracted during practice, then after being ordered to take a walk, I find my anchor. A girl with short sleeves and wet brown hair draped over a book as she strolls back towards the castle. Her body trying its best to protect the book from the aggressive rain.

I call on her, the second she spins around I find my heart dropping along with my jaw. A white t-shirt, thin enough as is, with no bra, drenched in rain, with a gentle breeze making her nipples go all hard. Not the only thing going hard right now.

Fucking hell. No bra. Her perfectly petite breasts completely visible to anyone with eyes. Shit I need to look away before I get a full on stiffy right here.

I invite her to come watch us play, giving her my quidditch jumper the second I can. Covering up what I want so badly but can't have. No need to tell her and embarrass her.

Her wet hair returns to a gentle wave i've never seen on her before. Her lips all wet. Her eyelashes glaring up at me as they drip.

"You're hot." I blurt, staring down in awe. Her brows furrow, "Are you?" I correct. "Are you hotter now with my jumper?" I recover. "Oh, right. Yeah. Thanks." She stumbles over her words nervously.

"C'mon. Peter, Sirius and I are practicing with the team, Remus'll be happy to sit with you." I tell her, leading her up the stands to where Remus is. She doesn't protest, just following me.

"Your book will be all wet." I comment. "Well it wasn't raining when I brought it out with me.. and then it started and I got to my favourite chapter so I tried my best to cover it." She shrugs helplessly.

"What you reading?" I ask her. "Little Women." She tells me with a happy smile.

"That's your favourite right?" I recall.

"It is." She nods pleasantly.

When we get to the nearly empty stands Remus smiles to us, inviting Maddison to sit down. "What was that all about?" he asks me.

"What?" I growl, wiping some rain from my cheek.

"You completely flipped out. The coach made you take a lap?" Remus reminds. Of course I remember, I just wasn't particularly keen on Maddison finding out.

"I don't know what you mean." I shrug. "Huh?" The small girl looks to me with curiosity.

"I'm the captain. It's my job to yell at people doing the wrong thing. Not my fault our coach is daft." I justify.

"Yeah it's your job to yell at people. It's not your job to tell Sirius to 'die a painful death choking on his own dick because nobody else would'" Remus says pointedly.

"Oh my." Maddison's eyes widen with shock. "I was joking. He knew that." I shrug, jogging back to the pitch in no time. Sirius growls at me furiously, everyone else rolling their eyes when I mount my broom.

We finish practise, Sirius and I making up with a small handshake in no time.

Back in our Gryffindor sweats, we walk back to the castle, slinging the uniforms into the team washing basket. I'm only wearing a plain white shirt because I gave my jumper to Maddison.

The five of us walk back to the castle in effective silence.

"Party tonight?" Peter asks is with curiosity. "Little last minute don't you think?" Remus interjects. "Let's do it." Sirius dictates.

"You coming Maddison?" I ask, deciding whatever she says will be my answer too.

"I guess." She shrugs in agreement. "Looks like i'm in then." I nod.

Upon arriving back to the castle, we go our separate ways to get dressed and inform everyone about the party. And most importantly, to acquire booze.

Much later here we are, i'm drunk out my mind and Maddison is sitting awkwardly next to Remus whispering quietly about some geeky books.

"Let's play spin the bottle." Someone cheers, I think it was Marlene. "Nah that's too babyish, let's play seven minutes in heaven." A boy in our team calls out.

"Let's do both. Seven minutes in heaven decided by spinning a bottle." Dorcas settles.

Everyone seems to agree, gathering around the floor in a circle.

"Seven minutes being ten minutes. Heaven being the spare empty dorm room." Sirius clarifies.

Kavanagh ends up leaving with Lynch in the year bellow. Returning later with messy hair, smudged lipstick and proud smirks.

More and more couples go, I can sense Maddison tensing up from across the room. Now that I think of it i've spent this whole game staring at her, watching how she goes on high alert whenever the bottle spins and releases a grateful sigh every time it isn't her.

"James!" The crowd whoops, bringing back my attention in shock. I see the bottle facing me and Lily Evans getting to her feet.

"Sorry, I don't really feel like playing." I dismiss, immediately not wanting to hookup with Lily Evans.

For as long as I can remember, it's always been Lily and I. From the first day here at Hogwarts we've had this sort of will-they won't- they thing going. Everyone knows we'll probably end up together, but we just need time. More recently, I've found myself less and less amused by the idea of her, she's changed having grown up to be an awful person.

"You know you want to." Lily winks, taking my hand and helping me to my feet.

"I really don't feel too great." I try to shake her off as she leads me away. "Come on, it'll be fun." She begs.

"Does 'no' mean nothing these days?" Maddison scoffs under her breath, being heard by everyone. "Excuse me?" Lily whips around to her. "Nothing." Maddison is quick to squeak sheepishly.

"No I want you to say what you just said to my face." Lily raises her voice defensively. I can see Maddison getting nervous. "Let's go." I sigh, taking Lily away and up to the spare dorm room, cheers and claps following us.

She locks the door and I sink down to the bed, hands in my hair as I groan in tiredness.

"C'mere." Lily purrs. I look up to her with wonder in my eyes as she sulks closer to me, stepping between my legs.

"Lily stop." I warn. "It's called seven minutes in heaven for a reason, James. Take me to heaven." She whimpers, taking my hands and placing them on her breasts. I flinch and pull them away.

"I'm drunk. You're drunk. It's a stupid game. It is not happening." I say frankly.

"Remember our first kiss? A game of spin the bottle. How special would it be if our first time was during a game of spin the bottle all these years later." She whispers, running her hands through my hair enticingly.

"It may well be special, but it's never going to happen." I say firmly.

"Why not James? You used to be all over me? What happened?" She whines.

"Nothing happened. I just can't right now." I try to get her away.

"So it's not me?" She clarifies. I nod to confirm it's true. She takes this as a sign to kiss me. To fucking kiss me. Immediately I push her away from me, her falling to the floor as I stand and step away.

"James what the fuck!" Lily screeches. "Sorry if I hurt you." I scramble to apologise, helping her up with a hand. "But that can't happen. None of this should be happening." I say.

"Why not?" She pleads. "I have a girlfriend." I blurt out the most random of lies in a moment of pressure.

"Who?" She demands immediately.

I tilt my head at her, trying to think about the lie I've just spilt. "White. It's White isn't it?" Lily's lip quivers as tears drip down her cheeks.

"Lily.." I trail off, trying to comfort her and deny the accusations.

"I just hope you know who you're getting involved with." She huffs. This peaks my interest a little, does Lily know something?

"Dorcas told me exactly what she is." Lily says stubbornly. That's when I drop the interest I may have had, knowing anything Lily is going to tell me is bullshit.

"I heard first hand she got fucked by Meadow's cousin." Lily blatantly lies.

"That did not happen." I almost laugh at how preposterous this is.

"It's true. He's a muggle. Dorcas' cousin is friends with White's Dad and he told us all about the time they went round to her place and he ended up shagging her." Lily tells me smugly.

"Well even if that did happen, whoever she fucks is her business." I turn the topic away, seriously angered by the thought of Maddison having sex with someone.

"I just wanted to make sure you knew she is a huge slag, she spreads her legs for anyone." Lily folds her arms furiously.

"Don't you fucking dare call her that!" I boom, rising to my feet and pointing right in her face until her smirk drops and her eyes widen.

"What? A slag? I mean she is a whore, right? Just remember when you finger her next where that sluts fanny has been. Who's been in it. And remember who used to own these fingers." She lurks closer to me, taking my hand in hers and slowly sliding my two fingers in her mouth and seductively sucking them.

"Please kindly stop sucking my fucking fingers. And if you mention that girl and the word slag, whore or slut in the same sentence ever again, I will kill you." I warn.

She strops, stomping her foot and sulking down onto the bed where I previously sat.

"Whatever we had- or whatever you think we had.. is over." I hiss.

"Now keep my girlfriend's name, out your fucking mouth." I spit, slamming the door when I walk out.

When I'm heading back down to the group i'm met with an entourage of applauding. When everyone sees my furious face they stop and shift uncomfortably.

"This games stupid." I growl bitterly. "Just spin the bottle mate? Don't even do this round, just to pick someone to spin next?" Sirius tries to lighten up the tense atmosphere.

I aggressively reach out and spin the glass bottle, not caring who it lands on, having already decided to pass whoever it may be.

It finally slows to a stop, on the anxious girl across from me picking and biting at her nails.

Our eyes meet in a sudden spark of heat. The room goes embarrassingly quiet, heat rising to both of our cheeks.

"I'm gonna play." I change my mind immediately, not breaking our eye contact even when the whispers and yells and whoops start.

I stand up and help her to her feet with an outstretched hand.

I place my hand on the small of her back and lead her up the staircase in the direction of the assigned room. On the way we pass Lily in a disgraced state as we step inside together.

"James?" She whimpers, lip quivering. "Yeah?" I ask immediately scrunching my brows in confusion. "I don't want to." Maddison shakes her head profusely.

My eyes widen and I go as pale as a ghost. "What do you think I brought you in here for Mads." I blurt.

"Sex. I know I left before we could do it last time. So I understand that you want it. And it's okay, cause I'll do it and everything.. I just don't really want to." She panics, tears teasing her beady eyes.

"Maddison.. let me make one thing so abundantly clear to you. I would never do anything you didn't want to do. I also do not want sex from you, I know guys can be dick but I also don't just want sex from every girl I lay my eyes on." I ease her panic.

"Then why'd you agree to play?" She asks with a confused shake of the head. "Because if I hadn't, you would've spun that bottle and some other arsehole might have actually wanted it from you." I inform her with a clear undertone of rage.

"Oh.. um thank you." She stumbles over her words nervously.

I take my glasses off and flop down across the bed, sighing in exhaustion. My eyes find themselves closing and making all light evaporate.

"Tired?" Maddison asks briefly.

"Exhausted.. drunk.. and annoyed." I clarify in a groan.

"Annoyed?" Her voice asks softly, she slips her shoes off and slides onto the bed beside me, curling into a little ball as she sits deadly still looking around the room.

"Annoyed at Evans." I respond in answer to her subtle question. "Lily?" Maddison raises a brow with confusion.

"Yeah.. She tried to kiss me even after I told her I wasn't interested." I complain. Maddison shifts awkwardly and I realise I might have overshared a little.

"I'm sorry." She frowns sympathetically. "It's whatever." I dismiss. She takes this as a perfect opportunity to change the uncomfortable topic.

"I thought you said you were drunk?" She whispers, avoiding looking at me.

"Fucking smashed." I groan. Only when I pay attention I can notice the slur to my voice. I'm a pretty good drunk, I mean it takes nearly nothing to get me drunk honestly, but at my usual drunk level I act sober. Asides from the slurring, stumbling when I walk, not remembering a thing in the morning and brutal honesty, I'm pretty much the same guy. I've never really been drunker than I am right now, I have a medium point where I typically stay, but if I were to go over that limit I don't know what I'd become.

"You don't seem drunk." She queries. "I feel it." I laugh.

"Seriously?" Maddison repeats, "Yeah, you never seen someone drunk before?" I chuckle.

She looks to me with a gentle tilt of the head, "No I have.. I just-" She trails off.

"One of my neighbours, he gets drunk every day.. he always hits his kids when he's drunk. I just thought every drunk man was like that." She ponders.

This is something that finally makes me open my eyes and prop myself up on my shoulders to look intently at her.

"Mads, any man who hits is no man. Alcohol doesn't give you a free pass to abuse your kids." I say in the most serious tone I've ever spoke whilst being this intoxicated.

Then a thought crashes to my mind. "This neighbour.. did he ever hit you?" I ask with fury.

She sheepishly shakes her head, I continue staring at her just to be sure. "No James." She confirms.

I nod slowly, believing her over my gut instincts.

She finally releases that grip she had on her legs, falling out of the ball position and slowly laying back beside me to stare at the ceiling.

"What are your parents like James?" She beckons curiously. "Why?" I immediately fire back.

"Because you seem like a really good guy. I want to know if you were well raised or if you did that on your own." She tells me.

"Well raised, I don't believe you can be a good person if your parents aren't." I answer.

"You think?" Maddison frowns. I nod.

"My parents are incredible. The best even, I don't think I could've got better if I tried." I smile with pride. "What about yours?" I turn the question on her.

"Yeah. Same." She agrees briefly.

"Alright lovebirds. Seven minutes is up. Hide your nasty parts, Sirius is coming in." A knock on the door interrupts us.

The door slams open before I can yell a reply. Sirius stands there with a wide grin and messy hair.

"Out!" I warn angrily.

"Damn it. No lady parts." He groans. I lob a pillow at him, hitting him right in the head.

"You wanted to see my lady parts?" Maddison raises a brow with disgust.

"Not yours in particular. Any lady parts would do just fine really. That goes for any lady part as well. Boobies, arse, fanny.. I'd even take feet at this point." He says shamelessly.

"Right. Well good luck with that. I'm afraid you'll have to search elsewhere because no lady parts around here." Maddison says uncomfortably.

"I dunno. I see shoes on the floor. Does that mean toes?" Sirius raises a brow with temptation.

"My apologies. Only socks." She shrugs.

"Ignore him. He pretends to be perverted because he doesn't know how to communicate with females." I tease.

"Well heres a tip. Next time, don't start with the lady parts, ask for that later." Maddison says bitterly, slipping on her shoes.

"Noted." Sirius slurs, swinging out the door and practically lobbing himself down the stairs at record speed.

I place my glasses back on and wait for Maddison to finish tying her shoes. We walk back into the common room together, cheers and wolf whistles attacking me.

I get pats on the back, people yelling out and whooping. It feels good, the attention and praise. But then I look beside me at the girl folding her arms insecurely. She doesn't get back pats and cheers, instead she gets snarls and glares of disgust and shame.

"Fucking slag just couldn't get enough." A girl in the year above us mutters.

I see Maddison's red cheeks and teary eyes, looking straight down to avoid looking at anyone.

"Christ." I groan, pushing a couple people and stepping on top of a coffee table, all eyes darting to me with curiosity and gathering around me.

"Listen up!" I yell. The room is silenced immediately. I guess being the captain of our quidditch team comes with some form of authority.

"Maddison and I didn't sleep together." I say with as firm a voice as I can despite the alcohol — which is no doubt helping me have the confidence to say this.

"Not tonight. Not during the summer. Not ever." I clarify. Whispers start, furiously agitating me even more than the previous whispers.

My eyes make their way to Maddison, along with the other eyes on her, my stare goes avoided.

"I tried to sleep with her but she turned me down. Which she had every right to do. I don't resent her for saying no, I don't intend to try again and I don't wish it had happened. There are no more rumours to be spread because this is the end of it. We're friends now and if I catch any of you fuckers mention it again to me or her I'll shove your arm down your throat." I say calmly.

"Thank you." I say awkwardly as I step down and return to my friends, all three of the boys hiding their laughter.

"That's social suicide." Sirius laughs hysterically. "You told me to tell people." I hiss, worried and mad at his sudden change of opinion.

"Not like that. You told everyone she turned you down. She being the lowest of the low in this school. If she turned you down nobody else is gonna want you lad." He snorts.

"Fuck off." I dismiss as Maddison walks over. "I'm gonna head." She tells us quietly, grabbing her book and starting to head out.

"Right." I nod awkwardly. "Night, Mads." I smile. "Night, James." She replies.

The second she's gone Sirius snickers, "Mads?"

I turn to face him angrily. "What?" I growl. "You are so whipped."
