Chapter 2 - Meet

Her mum went to work as usual the next day. Daydream felt really strange. Her quilt cover with rainbow polka dots screamed at her to get out of bed. She couldn't get out of bed though. Why can't I get out of bed? She thought. As hard as it was, Daydream forced herself to get out of this hazy-like slumber. Her mind was fuzzy, so ugh. She sat down at the table in the kitchen and ate some pineapple. A painting on the wall with branching flourishing trees reminded her of the dream she had. The dream almost felt like real life, but it wasn't. Daydream knew it wasn't but she couldn't help but wonder.

She looked at the door and finished her pineapple. Her runners were in her room to be used so she put them on and went up to the door. She opened it and it swung open. She hadn't felt so alone in ages, it was like she had a longing to be part of what was out there, this 'out there' that she didn't really know about. However, the only person she talked to was her mum.  Well could talk to, no one else came into the house much. Daydream didn't know what it was like to have friends, she hadn't ever experienced it. Her hand was holding onto the door handle for dear life. The smoothness of it was calming. She told herself that she will go outside. A belief deep inside that was determined flourished throughout her body. Her face met with the warm, gleaming, morning sun.

Waves of leaves floating with the wind surrounded Daydream. Nature was protecting her while she walked down the path, she chose to go right this time. Her mind was clearer now that she had left her bed.

Chaz was waiting at the car to go to school. His crisp white shirt expressed his need for cleanliness. Tip-top shape was the way to go in his view. He was impatient and went up to his front door and shouted.
"Hurry up Dad! You take for everrrrrrrr", he rolled his eyes and walked back to the car with one hand on his hip. He whipped out his phone and scrolled through Instagram. Chaz followed people he didn't know on Instagram and somehow expected them to follow him back. When they didn't he would get mad and actually get so annoyed he wanted to throw his phone away. He saw a girl walking on the footpath. She had no uniform on but looked around his age.
"Oi! Why aren't you at school? It's 8:40!" Chaz asked in a not very nice way.
"What's school?" Daydream replied. What she said took Chaz by surprise.
"Whaaaa?" His phone was the least of his problems now and he was staring at the girl with curiosity.
"You... you don't know what school is?" Chaz couldn't believe it, either she was lying or was older than she looked. Daydream was getting a little scared so she hastily walked past him and the car. She was planning to do a walk around the streets in a circle then go back home to read her books. Literature was a glorious thing in her opinion.
"Hey! Where do you think you're going?" Chaz started to run after her but she was walking on the path, ignoring him, at least in his view. Chaz's Dad was at the car now.
"Going to school?" he looked at Chaz and opened the car door. Chaz realised that it was 8:40am and got in the car too.
"Yeah", Chaz was still confused about the girl.
"Who was that?" Chaz's Dad asked after he had backed out of the driveway.
"Um...." Chaz didn't have any other way to describe it. "A person",
"I'm not dumb Chaz, of course it was a person! She seemed a little lost that's all", Chaz's Dad was concerned.
"Funny, because I thought that too", Chaz looked out the window, starting to realise that he lived in a completely different world to what some other people did.
