DoSomething.org's Lose Your V-Card campaign helps first-time voters register and get their friends registered to vote

Campaign supported by celebrities including: Lauren Jauregui, Andrea Russett, Joey Graceffa, and Jenn McAllister

NEW YORK, NY – September 6, 2016– Today, DoSomething.org , the largest organization for young people and social change kicks off "Lose Your V-Card," a new campaign to celebrate an important rite of passage: registering to vote. This election, there are 16.9 million potential new young voters. Lose Your V-Card makes it easy for new eligible voters to register to vote and get their friends to register to vote.

Here are five reasons for young people to lose their V-Card this Fall:

Beginning today through October 31, young people will be able to participate in the following ways:

People who are 18-years-old and older can visit DoSomething.org/vote to register to vote via an online voter registration form. After they register, they will ask friends to lose their V-Cards too by sharing a unique registration link and one of the V-Cards above on social media.

People under 18-years-old will be able to join the campaign by sharing a V-Card and a unique registration link on social media to encourage their friends and family members to register to vote.

Beginning November 1, young people who sign up for Lose Your V-Card will also be able to "Find their V-Spot," and will receive a text message with their voting location.

"Voting in your first election is a big deal and should be celebrated, no matter who you are voting for," said Aria Finger, CEO and Chief Old Person at DoSomething.org. "Millennials are the largest and most diverse generation in the U.S. and have the opportunity to make a huge impact on this election. This campaign enables them to rally their friends and use FOMO for good. We want to ensure that young people aren't missing out on voting in a presidential election for the very first time."

To kick off the campaign, DoSomething.org has released ">a video that reminds young people that what happens in the voting booth, stays in the voting booth.

Celebrities including Internet personalities Andrea Russett, Joey Graceffa, and Jenn McAllister, as well as Fifth Harmony member Lauren Jauregui have joined the campaign and are encouraging their fans to "lose their V-Card" and register to vote.
