[You wake up to the sound of your door bell.
Aware of the hangover you're about to experience, you cautiously open your eyes and greet the headache with a grunt.
You try to pull yourself up out of the couch you had passed out on, only to be pulled back into it by an excruciating pain in your neck.
The doorbell chimes again,
And again,
And again.
Begrudgingly, you roll out of your living room couch and stomp your way towards the door.
You open the door and it feels like you opened your fridge as cool breeze hit your face. You squint your eyes at the night's brightness as if the moon travelled all the way to your doorstep and threw its fake light at you. You take a moment to adjust your eyes to the white streetlights.
When you finally get your eyesight back, you're met with a pair of eyes. Your face couldn't help but deadpan at the sight in front of you.
You slam your door in Jungkook's face and decide to pretend nothing happened.
"Open the damn door, you piece of shit!" Someone shouts from the other side of the door and you know it's not Jungkook. It can't be him, his voice isn't that high pitched. Or is it? For a moment you consider his singing talent and conclude it might as well be him but then your brain decides to introduce the concept of 'logic' to you.
It's obviously Jennie.
You run back to open the door for Jennie, hoping for her to be the only one present there and not the hallucination of Jeon Jungkook you saw earlier.
"Maybe try using your key next time," you say as you unlock the door.
To your dismay, Jennie stands right next to the hallucination with big plastic bags in her hands. Patches of grass and mud cover her face as strands of her hair go haywire. You couldn't help but stare.
"Yes, I fell on my face. Now, move."
Oh.
You leave some space for Jennie to enter and the hallucination tags along like your apartment's his grandma's place.
"where do you think you're go...," you try to stop him but pause when you notice heavy bags in his hands.
"if you guys are gonna do some breaking bad kinda shit, I'm gonna have to kick you out," you announce as you look at Jennie who places her bags on the kitchen's counter. "No drug business here, this ain't your blueberry bar," you joke and kinda feel guilty as you remember how bad it was when the bar got busted and people lost their jobs and one of those victims happen to be in this room but he also spammed you and made you feel uncomfortable so you don't know what to feel anymore.
You point at Jungkook, "I'm kicking you out either way so," you step aside and motion your hand towards your door, "help yourself."
"Who made you the boss?" Jennie questions, "he's here to have dinner with us."
When you hear the word 'dinner,' you panic. How long has it been since you passed out on the couch? You check your pockets to find your phone to know the time.
When you look at the '2:13am' on your screen, your neurons go haywire and make all kinds of connections they can. You're reminded of the 9827373 things you had to do for school, the possibility of you failing med school, the possibility of you repeating this treacherous year, the possibility of you being killed by this dude from the bar who's in your house at 2am, and what not.
In an instant, your feet move on their own and you find yourself in front of your fridge with a bottle of wine in your hand. You don't care about putting it in a glass, you just gulp till you couldn't feel your throat anymore and lose the ability to think 50% of your thoughts.
"Yeah, so, I was saying," you say as you close the bottle and put it back in the fridge, "are you trying to get us ki-what the fuck?!" you couldn't help but widen your eyes when you close the fridge and turn around to meet a counter festooned with delicacies.
"Jin's so nice he made food for us and sent some for you too," Jennie cries. Tears roll down her face as she sniffs.
"Okay but why are you crying?!??"
"So what they were leftovers? I'm just grateful we have food," she adds, completely dodging your question, as more tears roll down her face.
"There were a lot of parties at work tonight so..."Jungkook speaks, "she might have had a few..." his voice fades away as he notices Jennie shoot daggers through her eyes at him.
"Oh my god, Jennie, seriously???" You ask Jennie incredulously. She rolls her eyes as she heaves out a sigh. "You brought him here at 2am?? When you're THAT vulnerable?!?" you add.
"I brought him here because I'm that vulnerable," she replies, sass flows out of her voice like she wasn't just crying over leftover food a second ago.
"She couldn't drive like this and taking an uber wouldnt have been safe so I thought I should just drop her since the other guys were kinda tipsy as well and I wasn't," Jungkook, who stood next to the door, panics a bit and explains from the other side of the room. He looked like he was about to leave.
"OH MY GOD NOW WE ARE BOTH DRUNK, ITS SO NOT SAFE!" You freak out, brushing your hand through your hair out of frustration, "I DONT TRUST THIS MAN, WE ARE GONNA DIE TODAY."
"Bruh, I don't know about you but I can think perfectly right now," Jennie states casually, "in fact, I feel smarter. I can sense every molecule around me, I can keep my guard up so we're safe as fuck. Also, jungkook is the last person you should be worried about right now," she rambles. You couldn't help but respond with a thesis on how 'fuck' is not safe, even with protection, and how her statement 'safe as fuck,' is a bit contradictory. The irrelevancy of the conversation makes jungkook question whether he should change the topic and leave or stay back to see where the debate goes.
"Why does she trust you so much?" You turn to Jungkook and ask after ending your debate with Jennie, the incredulity wasn't ready to leave your face yet.
As you hear what you said, some dots start to connect in your head, "wait..." you cross your arms across your chest and give Jennie a sly look. Your eyes shift from Jennie's to jungkook's then back to Jennie's and back to jungkook's. A smug appears on your face, "hm, I see."
"Did this bitch just ship us?" Jennie questions.
Jungkook panics a little and blurts out, "I like you, Not her," putting emphasis on relevant terms to clear out misunderstandings, and immediately regrets it. In a split of a second, he turns around to leave but struggles to unlock the door which holds him back and embarrasses him even more.
"I don't like you either," Jennie responds to Jungkook in a salty tone, "and you gotta unlock the latch before your turn the knob," she adds and purses her lips to stop herself from snickering.
He sighs and finally unlocks the door. "Aight, have a great night," he says as he steps out of your apartment. His ears turn hot and a shade of red and when they're engulfed by the night's cool breeze they almost leave out a mist.
"what about your food?!" Jennie asks from your kitchen, which is on the other side of the apartment, opposite to the entrance.
Before he could leave, he turns around and holds the door open to say, "Im not hungry." The door closes with a thud and leaves a whiff of the winter outside.
"Oh, is he your BFF now?" You give Jennie a side eye, a criminal offensive side eye, as a sarcastic tone leaves your mouth and a dry chuckle follows.
"I don't know, maybe a GF," Jennie replies whilst fishing her phone out of her pocket. When she notices a confused look on your face, she elaborates, "Good Friend." Your mouth and your eyes both open wide at this revelation of an unexpected friendship while she dials a number and puts her phone on speaker.
"Hello?" The person on call responds. You look at her phone and the contact says, 'meme.' You couldn't help but roll your eyes.
"Come have dinner with us," Jennie insists.
"Nah, I'm good, thanks."
"Come back or I'll tell everyone about-
"I'll be there in a minute," jungkook cuts her off and hangs up.
"About?" You ask Jennie and she responds with "none of your business" as tears roll down her face.
You shake your head in exasperation at her attitude and random tears.
"Fine. you guys can have dinner, I'll just be in my room," you turn to Jennie and declare before making your way to your room.
"girl, no."
You ignore her and slam shut your room's door.
That dude is Jennie's problem now, you think. You just wanted to get back to your pending assignments. You had wasted your Saturday and now you had about 21 hours to get some of your work done.
You walk to your desk and grab a pen and your sticky notes pad to make a to-do list. When you're done listing all your tasks on a bunch of sticky notes, you turn around and dive onto your bed.
That's a LOT of work.
You couldn't help but feel overwhelmed by the amount of things you had on your plate. You bury your face in your pillow out of frustration. Your eyes get heavy as you adjust your head on the pillow. Every little background noise, physical or mental, slowly start to fade away and it feels like your mind is being absorbed by a dark energy and you're about to fall down from a skyscraper.
"YAH! Y/N-AH!"
The sharp and shrill voice of a rude lady stops the dark energy from absorbing you and the skyscraper disappears. You open your eyes and hear knocking on your door. You curse yourself for almost falling asleep.
"I AINT SAVING ANYTHING FOR YA," Jennie warns as the knocking stops and you hear her walk away.
"Oh look!" You hear Jennie exclaim from the living room, "it's bulgogi!"
"Of course he gave that to you bulgogis," you mumble and make a mental note to look for a soundproof apartment the next time you move out.]
