A Chance

Three days after the attack, Yao and a couple of the palace guards accompanied the Current Ace of Spades, John Smith, as they came to the Williams-Jones home to retrieve the twins. They were surprised to see the star of the Family crest in flames and the remains of the couple that were not only the parents of the next royals but also had been Yao's friends. Yao searched through the whole house desperately.
"Sir! I found a baby!" A guard yelled from the kitchen. Yao ran in to the tiny area to see that it was one of the twins. Yao held the crying child close as he let silent tears fall down. At that moment, another guard carried in a barely conscious slave trader. The guards all showed great restraint by not killing the man were he was.
"Where is the other child?" John asked.
"Gone. You will ne'er find 'im! Yer a fool to be thunk that I do tell you were he be!" The trader hissed out. Yao drew his sword and brought it down and ended the filth's miserable excuse for a life. The child fell asleep clinging to Yao. But the other twin may as well be dead now. The tales of the young Matthew Williams as he grew and became the best Ace of Spades is a tale of great importance but it is not in this tale. For you see, it would be dull and uninteresting.
Needless to say, Arthur took care of Alfred for three years before Arthur was 'sold' to pirates and became the best bloody pirate of all time ever recorded in all of Arda's history. He bore the mark of the Queen of Spades on his wrist and palm and at the base of his spine. His assent onto the throne of Spadia will be revealed soon, child.
Alfred was sold to a family that had him work non-stop in the forges for two years before he was sold again to a cruel farmer who payed quite a bit. Alfred was not easy to tame but tame him the farmer did. He spent nine years as a toy for his master on the west coast of Spadia.
On one such afternoon, the farmer had tied Alfred up and was beating him almost to death. The farmer's back was to the sea so he never saw the Britannia, Captain Arthur Kirkland's ship, come close and a few row boats coming towards shore.
Alfred had long since passed into the realm of unconsciousness when the farmer felt a pain in his chest. He looked down to see the tip of a sword bloom from his chest before he heard the snarl of the attacker. That was the last the farmer ever knew.
Captain Kirkland and his crew spread out and plundered the area before the Captain gently picked the small, unconscious 14 year old boy up and carried the boy to the row boats. Arthur placed the boy on his own bed before undoing the binding. "Gilbert! Get me water, bandages, and food!" He ordered. This was only just the beginning of a greater tale but this is no happily ever after...
