I've decided to participate in the 2021 Open Novella Contest run by Wattpad.  They've run these contests in past years, but somehow it escaped my notice when they announced them so I never joined in.  I saw everyone else talking about their "ONC" book and it seemed like I was missing out on some fun.  So when I happened to actually see the announcement that they were doing it again in 2021 I decided to jump aboard.  In case you don't know the idea is that you write a novella consisting of 20,000 to 40,000 words in the space of 13 weeks.  While that's not a super long time, it's also not a ridiculous amount of words considering my shortest book to date clocks in at over 111,000 words.  So, it seems doable.  I guess I'll have to see what I've gotten myself into here.  Please feel free to join me on this journey and any and all encouragement to keep going is appreciated. 

Oh yeah, one of the requirements of the contest is you have to pick a prompt as the basis for your story.  They give you a whole ton of options, but rather than overwhelm myself with choices I went with the first one I saw that pinged an idea in my head.  It happened to be #6:

"Your job is to track down vigilantes and infiltrate their groups, with the aim of gathering information and turning them into the authorities. You're successful at your job, until one day, a group of vigilantes changes everything."
