Chapter Twenty-One

I walked with Spock through the halls of the Enterprise. My shoulder was still a bit sore but I didn't consider it a genuine issue. Spock didn't seem to agree and was doing his best to usher me into the med bayl.

"Spock I assure you I am fine," I said. I was being honest. My head was a little dizzy but then again I had just been in a firefight. But other than that, I felt good.

Of all things, I was actually happy. Spock and I were content again, John Harrison was safely detained, and we just avoided possible Klingon war.

"Ferris, I don't want your wound t- Spock I'm fine," I interrupted, but his expression was doubtful.

"Spock, I promise," I said, crossing my heart with my fingers.

"I do not see how making an X over your heart conveys that you are telling the truth?" Spock said and I rolled my eyes, smiling to myself.

"Gosh, you are stubborn," I said and began to walk away to the bridge.

I was still a little worried about Jim, and how he had attacked Harrison. I hadn't seen him since we'd gotten back to the Enterprise.

"I am not stubborn. I simply care for your well being" Spock pressed on, " You need to have your-" I swiftly turned and got onto the top of my toes before kissing him on the lips. I had missed that physical contact with him. Even if I had only gone without it for a handful of days.

I broke away after a little while and then continued on my way to the bridge.

"Ferris, you still need to be looked at by a doctor or nurse. Your 'physical persuasion' will not change my thoughts," Spock announced.

Physical persuasion? That's a new one. He'd never objected to it before.

I sighed, giving him a side eye. "Spock, I am a nurse, thank you very much, and I can be much more "physically" persuasive if need be," I told him with a wink.

Considering that we were in a public setting, Spock decided to say no more.  A light green tinge appeared on his cheeks.

Right as I was about to enter the bridge, Jim and Bones were walking out.

"Hey Jim, are you alright?" I asked curiously as Spock and I fell into step with them.

"Yah, I'm fine. I just got upset," Jim said dismissively. "Anyway, what I want to know is how that man single handedly took out a full squad of Klingons."

"Sounds like we have a Super Man on board," Bones said as we walked towards the brig where I suppose they were keeping Harrison.

"Yeah, but Super Man was a hero not a terrorist," I said back to Bones who nodded in agreement.

We walked into the brig to see Harrison in a prison cell. The only thing in between us and him was a three inch thick fenl-glass that was military grade and was designed to withstand a bazooka.

Seeing Harrison completely ruined my previous mood. Jim seemed to reflect my reaction as well as he glared at Harrison with hate.

"Please put your arm through the opening. We are taking a sample of your blood," Bones said and Harrison complied

Harrison's cold blue gaze analyzed each of us with swift precision. He was now fixated on me again and I really did not enjoy his attention.

"Why aren't we moving captain?" Harrison asked, his gaze flickering over to Jim who said nothing with his arms crossed over his chest. "Perhaps an unexpected malfunction in your warp core that conveniently stranded you in the edge of Klingon territory?"

"How the hell did you know that?" Bones asked in surprise.

"Bones," Jim warned.

"I think you will find my insight valuable Captain," Harrison claimed, glancing at me again.

"We done here?" Jim aaking, ignoring Harrison.

"Yes, Ferris, can you hold this?" Bones asked as he carefully put away a few tools and handed me the tube of dark red blood. I took it gently, willing my hand not to shake.

Jim then proceeded to walk out of the room and we followed. I was great full to leave.

"Ignore me and you will get everyone on this ship killed," Harrison said just as Jim was almost out. Jim stopped, we along with him, as he contemplated quietly. A mix of emotions welled behind his eyes.

"Captain, I believe he will only attempt to manipulate you. I would not recommend engaging with the prisoner further," Spock said quietly and I nodded in agreement.

"Jim, we can't trust a word he says," I added.

Jim thought it over for a couple seconds.

"Give me a minute," Jim said and turned back to Harrison and started walking towards his cell. My mouth twitched in anticipation.

"Let me explain what's happening here. You are a criminal. I watched you kill innocent men and women. I was authorized to end you! And the only reason why you are still alive is because I am allowing it. So shut your mouth," Jim said threateningly.

Harrison hardly reacted. "Oh, Captain, are you going to punch me again? Over and over till your arm weakens? Clearly you want to, so tell me, why did you allow me to live?" Harrison asked.

"We all make mistakes." Jim shrugged

"No. I surrendered to you because, despite your attempt to convince me otherwise, you seem to have a conscience, Mr. Kirk. If you did not, then it would be impossible for me to convince you of the truth. 23-17-46-11 . Coordinates not far from Earth. If you want to know why I did what I did, go and take a look." Harrison suggested without any emotion.

"Give us one reason why we should trust a mass murderer?" I asked cooly and Harrison's predatory gaze flicked over to me.

"I can give you 72. They are all aboard your ship," he answered bluntly.

72? Was he talking about the missiles?

"I suggest you open one up."
