In the past few days, Miguel had come home from Mexico, and Jess talked with Sonny about the idea of Brandon moving in. Sonny loved the idea. Sure she's liked how her and Jess had been living since their parents passing, but she missed having the house filled and she was starting to see Brandon as an older brother so it was perfect.

Now, Sonny sat in a booth at Mel's Diner with Moon, Yasmine, and Sam. Sonny and Moon sat on one side of the booth, sharing a strawberry milkshake while Sonny and Sam shared curly fries.

As much as Sonny hated it, a lot of the topic of the girls' outing was about Sam and Miguel. Sam was mad at Miguel for leaving before her fight with Sonny, even though she didn't win and Sonny did.

Sam's phone beeped, and thinking it was Miguel responding to Sam's "We should talk." message, Sonny, Moon, and Yasmine all perked up. Sam opened her messages and Yasmine chuckled, reading the text from over Sam's shoulder.

"Desperate. But cute. He knows he's in deep shit." Yasmine hummed, sounding almost happy. Sonny squinted at the girl. She was not liking being put in this position. She's both Sam and Miguel's friend, she didn't want to help Sam plan when to break up with Miguel.

Sam turned the phone around to Moon and Sonny so they could read the texts.

"Can't wait to see you tonight. How are you?"

Sonny sighed, her shoulders slumping. She can just picture Miguel, Hawk, and Demetri all freaking out over Sam's texts and her tone.

Sam noticed Sonny's mood fall a little and she sighed. She didn't want the lunch to turn into some couples counseling for her, knowing Sonny was friends with her and Miguel. Sam didn't want to put Sonny in that awkward position, but Yasmine kept asking about her and Miguel that it just happened.

"I just... I feel like things have been off lately. There's so much I wanna say. Maybe I should just... lay it all out?" Sam asked. Almost immediately Yasmine took the phone out of the girls hands as she, Sonny, and Moon all shook their heads.

"No, less is more." Yasmine breathed out, typing something out to text Miguel. As much as Sonny didn't want to agree with Yasmine, she knew she was right.

"I'm with Yas. It's better to have these conversations in person." Sonny said and Sam sighed. Out of all of the girls around her, Sam trusted Sonny the most.

Yasmine smiled, glad Sonny and Moon were agreeing with her. "Mm-hm. Keep it short, not sweet." She said, handing the phone back to Sam.

Sam furrowed her eyebrows at the text Yasmine had made. "I'm okay." She read. Sam looked back up to Sonny who sat directly across from her in the booth. "Should I add a smiley face or something?"

Immediately, all three girls answered.

"Yes."

"No!"

"Definitely."

A big smile took over her face over the fact that her and Moon both said yes. Yasmine groaned, rolling her eyes as Sonny turned to her. "Two to one. Ha!" She bragged obnoxiously, part of her wanting to upset the girl on purpose. Sonny turned back to Sam and nodded. "Add an emoji."

Sam smiled, nodding her head a little before looking back down to her phone and adding an emoji to her text. Once she hit send, she looked up at her friends and let out a relieved sigh. "Okay, what's next?"

...

After finishing their food and paying, Sonny, Moon, Sam and Yasmine headed to the spa.

Sonny had gone many times with Moon alone and with Moon and Yasmine. Now that Sam was coming too, Sonny was excited to see Sam's reaction to the place.

Immediately, Sam's eyes widened as they entered the spa. "Moon, this place is so... you." Sam breathed out, leaning forward to see Moon from the other side of Sonny.

Sonny turned to Moon, the girl had a big smile on her face, her eyes practically sparkling as she looked around the room. "Isn't it?"

She turned to Sam, her dreamy smile still on her face. "When I was still trying to figure out my sexuality, this place helped cut through the negative noise. Which is why I brought you here. You gotta find yourself. Figure out who you really are."

Sam nodded, understanding now why both Sonny and Moon wanted hey to come so badly. But she didn't understand why Yasmine was so eager to come. She turned to the blonde on the other side of her, confused.

Yasmine shrugged. "They also do facials." She admitted and Sam nodded, seeing the appeal Yasmine had with the place.

Moon led the three to one of them down a hallway and into another room. Sonny had never been in this room before. Normally, she and Yasmine stayed in the main room to get mani-pedis and facials while Moon went into the other room.

Sonny's eyes widened at four sensory deprivation tanks in the room. Sonny's never had a fear of small spaces, but this was definitely freaking her out a little. She turned to Moon beside her and squeezed her hand in nervousness. "What is this, exactly?"

Moon noticed Sonny's nerves and squeezed her hand back. She smiled at Sonny, using her free hand to gesture to the pods. "This is a self-actualization pod."

Sam squinted at the pods before she turned back to Moon. "So like a sensory deprivation tank?" She asked and immediately Moon shook her head, her eyes wide. "Oh, no, no, no. They don't call them that anymore. It's not about deprivation. It's about connection with your innermost self. I brought both of you here to try it out."

Sonny's eyes widened and slowly blinked. "Wait, what?" She asked. She looked to Sam beside her, who looked just as nervous before she turned back to her girlfriend. "Both?"

Moon smiled, nodding her head as a small "mhm" passed through her lips. Sam slowly shook her head, taking a small step back. "Thanks, but I'm still gonna pass. I have nightmares about drowning in shallow water."

Yasmine turned to Sam, her eyes wide. "Wow. That's..." She looked away from Sam and pressed her lips together. "Dark." She finished.

Moon heard a small tapping noise coming from the floor and she looked down. When she noticed it was Sonny tapping her foot, Moon sighed. She grabbed Sonny's other hand with her free one so she was holding both of her hands and turned Sonny to face her.

"Sonny, ever since the tournament, you've been off balance." Moon said and Sonny looked to the floor, her body relaxing a bit as if she was taking down a facade she had been holding up.

Moon pressed her lips together and watched Sonny carefully. If Sonny really didn't want to do this, Moon would back off. But she knew this could be really beneficial for her.

Moon turned to Sam beside Sonny and gave her the same reassuring smile. "And Sam, it's clear there's been some tension with Miguel. The only thing you two will find in this pod is yourself. That's not so scary, right?" She asked, now looking back and forth between Sonny and Sam.

Sam looked to the pods and back to Moon before she sighed, knowing Moon was right. She and Yasmine both walked to the two furthest pods, Yasmine taking the one on the very end and Sam taking the one beside her.

Moon removed her hands from Sonny's grip and cupped her face instead. When her and Sonny locked eyes, she smiled. It was soft and relaxing for Sonny, easing a lot of her nerves.

"I'll be in the pod right next to you if you need anything." Moo whispered. Sonny looked at Moon for a few seconds before she nodded her head. She didn't know why she was nervous. She had no reason to be scared. Telling herself that helped calm herself down a lot.

Moon's soft smile turned into a happier one, proud of the girl in front of her. Moon leaned in and pressed a small kiss to Sonny's lips.

Sonny almost immediately kissed back. When they pulled away, their faces stayed close to one another. Now, both girls were smiling. Moon went on her toes and kissed Sonny's forehead.

Sonny blushed at the gesture, never getting over Moon's forehead kisses. "You've got this." Moon whispered and Sonny nodded.

They walked to their pods, Moon taking the end and Sonny taking the one beside it so she was in between her and Sam.

The girls were all wearing bathing suits under their clothes, knowing that they were going to the spa after lunch so they started to undress and climb into their pods.

Sonny gasped at the water temperature. It almost felt like she wasn't in any water. She climbed completely inside and slowly closed the pod door behind her.

She was met with completely darkness once the door closed. Pitch black. Sonny was grateful in that moment she wasn't afraid of the dark. She slowly submerged into the water, her body instantly floating to the top. Her ears were still underwater, which she hated, but Sonny tried her hardest to ignore it.

Sonny closed her eyes and relaxed her body. Just when she thought it wasn't going to work, her eyes opened. She didn't really open her eyes, but she was already starting to hallucinate.

She was standing in complete darkness. She felt like she was in an episode of Stranger Things.

It was quiet around her, just her own shallow breaths echoing through the darkness.

Then she started to hear a faint sound of a car driving. Sonny looked around, trying her hardest to see if she could spot a car in the darkness around her, but she didn't see anything.

A loud beep from someone's voicemail made Sonny gasp, she continued to look around her as a voice started to speak.

"Hey, Jess. I had a late night at work, but I'm on my way home."

Sonny felt a chill go down her spine at the sound of her father. Tears immediately started to prickle in her eyes as she listened to his voice, finally being able to hear it in her own ears instead of through old videos.

"I know it's really late and you and Sonny probably already ate, but just in case, I left some food in the fridge for you guys to heat up if you need to."

Sonny heard her father sigh as the tears in her eyes finally escaped and started to travel down her face.

"I know your mom already called you saying she had a late night too. Just make sure you don't let Sonny stay up too late. She'll be all cranky for school and her friend Demetri said she will start to cry during lunch."

A bittersweet laugh passed through Sonny's lips. She couldn't see her father or his car, but Sonny could just picture the smile on his face.

"I love you guys. I'll be home soon."

Sonny sniffled, holding back a small cry by biting her bottom lip. "I love you too, Dad." She whispered back.

Ross Thompsons voice stopped and Sonny sucked in a breath of air as a click of a phone call ending echoed through the air. She closed her eyes and dropped her head.

Once it was completely quiet, Sonny started to cry. Her heart started to ache, her father gone all over again.

Another faint noise—this one coming from behind her—made Sonny's cries stopped. Sonny's whole body tensed as she listened to Demetri struggle, members of Cobra Kais laughs emitted from behind him.

Sonny recognized Demetri struggled anywhere. She had nightmares about this night for weeks.

She was back at the Laser Tag park.

Sonny slowly turned around, lifting her head as she did so. Her breath got caught in her throat as she stared at Hawk standing over Demetri, Demetri's arm twisted behind his back.

It was happening all over again.

Sonny stemmed to run towards the two boys, but it seemed like every step she took closer to Hawk and Demetri, the two of them were four more ahead of her.

She wasn't able to stop Hawk as he threw his hand down, breaking Demetri's arm. Sonny collapsed to the floor as Demetri screamed in pain. Sonny felt as if all of her organs in her body switched places. She felt nauseous as her stomach sank and her heart rose to her throat.

Demetri's screams couldn't seem to die out. It felt like if they were going on a loop, constantly playing in her mind. Sonny clamped her hands over her ears and shut her eyes as tight as she could, but the screams didn't even quiet down.

"Classic Little Miss Sunshine..."

Sonny slowly removed her hands from her ears. Immediately on edge, Sonny turned around to look behind her. She practically shot off the ground to stand back up when she saw Tory slowly walking towards her.

The Nichols girl chuckled at Sonny, shaking her head tauntingly. "Too pussy to actually save the people you care about." She said, her voice low.

Tory started to walked towards Sonny. With every step she took, Tory seemed to get angrier.

"You couldn't save Demetri from getting his arm broken, you couldn't save Miguel from falling off the railing, you couldn't save Hawk from losing from us cutting his mohawk, you couldn't save Robby after the school fight." Tory listed, her voice laced with venom.

She stopped walking once she was about two feet away from Sonny. She smirked, tilting her head a little. "And you couldn't save your parents."

Tory's sharp words echoed in the air as Sonny's patience wore thin. Without hesitation, Sonny lunged forward at Tory.

Tory deftly dodged Sonny by side stepping g away. Sonny yelled as she sent punch after punch to Tory, but Tory blocked every single one. Tory raised her leg to kick Sonny, but Sonny brought her arm up, blocking the girls kick.

As Sonny spun around and raised her leg to kick Tory, the Nichols girl let out a war cry and stuck her own leg out. She kicked Sonny's kneecap, the same knee Sonny dislocated at her first All Valley

Sonny screamed in pain and fell to the floor. Her knee felt worse than when she had injured it at the All Valley a year ago. She could hear Tory walking towards her, but she couldn't move. She wouldn't be able to get up.

Tory finally came into Sonny's eye line. She was standing over Sonny, her legs on either side of Sonny's torso. The Nichols girl looked ready to kill her.

Tory got down on her knees so she was straddled on top of the girl. She aggressively grabbed Sonny's jaw, making Sonny quince in pain. Tory chuckled, leaning her face closer to Sonny's.

"You're weak." She spat out. Tory leaned away from Sonny, keeping her grasp on her jaw. "You're afriad." She added.

"Afraid to do anything. It's gonna kill you. Maybe not literally, but it will kill you." Tory seethed. She let go of Sonny's jaw. Sonny groaned at the feeling, moving her jaw around to relax it before she noticed Tory raise her fist.

Sonny's eyes widened at the glare on Tory's face. Tory screamed as she brought her fist back down towards Sonny's face.

Just before Tory could punch her, the door to Sonny's self relaxation pod opened. Sonny gasped, shooting up just to a sitting position.

She looked up to see who opened her pod as she tried to catch h her breath. Sonny moved her wet hair out of her face as she looked up at a worried Moon, Sam, and Yasmine.

"Are you okay, love?" Moon asked, gently reaching to grab Sonny's arm to help her out. Sonny swallowed the lump in her throat, still shaken up as she nodded.

"Yeah. Yeah, I'm okay." Sonny managed to say as Sam grabbed Sonny her robe. She quickly handed it to Sonny as she stepped out of her pod. Sonny smiled at Sam, taking the robe and wrapping it around herself.

Moon gave Sonny a hopeful smile, shaking the girl a little. "How was it?" She asked, her laugh spilling out with her words.

Sonny turned to Moon and felt the fear and nerves in her body wash away. She relaxed as she stared at Moon. Sonny smiled and nodded, "It was good. I know what I'm gonna do now"
