miyagi-fang karate

Cobra Kai was officially done. Silver was locked up and almost every student from Cobra Kai left to come to Miyagi-Do. Everyone who did join the team, came back in with their friendship as if they never left. They were all once Cobra Kai anyway, now that they were all together again, all the old friendships came back.

The only person that didn't make that breakthrough with the rest of the team was Tory. Instead of trying to create any sort of bond with the other kids, Tory worked mainly alone, sometimes working on some sparing with Robby or Sonny.

So when Sonny noticed Tory working on a punching bag alone for the fourth time that week, she decided to walk over to the girl, nervously tightening her gi. "Need any help?"

Tory continued punching the bag, barely turning to Sonny to give her attention. "I'm fine." She said through gritted teeth, her punches getting harder.

Sonny rose her eyebrows. Tory looked over to Sonny and sighed. She stopped fighting completely and grabbed the punching bag to stop it from swinging. "What?" Tory asked, knowing there was something Sonny wanted to ask but was holding back.

Sonny sighed and took a couple steps towards Tory. "Why don't you try hanging out with some people here?" She asked. Tory pushed a piece of her hair that fell out of her ponytail behind her hair and shook her head. "I do hang out with people here."

"People that aren't me and your boyfriend?" Sonny asked, immediately earning a harmless glare from the blonde. "Look, all I'm saying is it won't hurt to put yourself out there." Sonny tried to explain. Tory looked around at all the kids before she turned back to Sonny.

Just as she was about to open her mouth to tell Sonny she'd try, Chris called Sonny's name from across the backyard. Sonny and Tory both turned around to Chris, watching as he eagerly tried to wave her over. Sonny held up one finger, telling him to wait one minute before she turned back to Tory. "Do you want to come? Devon's over there and she's been telling me how you guys were on pretty good terms at Cobra Kai."

Tory frowned a little, looking to Devon before turning back to Sonny. "Maybe I'll meet you over there."

Sonny watched Tory for a couple seconds. Part of her didn't believe but she nodded anyway. "Okay." Sonny said before she turned around and started walking towards Chris, Devon, Nate, and Bert.

As soon as she was in arms reach, Chris wrapped his arm around Sonny and pulled her into his side. "Sonny, please tell them to work at Golf 'n' Stuf with us." Chris said, pointing to the three younger teens.

Since a lot of Chris and Sonny's coworkers were a year older then them, a lot of people quit once the new school year started to head off to college. Although Sonny likes that she gets to work on, her manager has been on her and Chris's asses like crazy.

Sonny perked up immediately at Chris's words, turning to Nate, Bert, and Devon. "Aww! You guys should! We could all be co workers!"

Nate smiled at Sonny. Some of his closest friends were her and Chris. It could be fun working there. "I'll think about it." Nate said, making Sonny and Chris turn to each other and cheer, high fiving each other.

"Hey, hey, hey, gang's all here!"

Sonny slowly turned around to face Mitch, who had a big smile on his face as he stared at the five. Sonny didn't ever see the boy switch sides but Demetri and Eli filled her in at the ambulance, he was a mole for Cobra Kai the whole time.

"Oh, look, it's Benedict Penis Breath." Bert scoffed out as Sonny crossed her arms over her chest. Mitch's face fell as he watched the glares he was getting from the kids in front of him and groaned. "Come on. I said I'm sorry a billion times. I swear, no more heel turns."

Before anyone could tell him to get out, Mitch upzipped his sweater, showing off a shirt that was half Miyagi-Do and half Eagle Fang. Sonny's eyebrows raised at the logo, finding it a bit of an eye sore but sweet nonetheless. "Pretty sweet, right? I got like... 30 of these. You have to buy in bulk if you wanna make sense of the pricing."

It was silent as Mitch waited for a response from the group. Sonny and Chris turned to each other at the same time, the same look on their faces. They both turned back to Mitch and Chris unwrapped his arm from around Sonny. He took a deep breath and Donny watched as Mitch straightened up.

"You got an XL?" Chris asked. Instantly, Mitch's demeanor calmed down and he smiled widely. He took his backpack off of one of his shoulders and brought it to his side so he can grab a shirt from inside as he laughed. "You know I do."

He tossed Chris his shirt and they pulled each other into a hug. When the two boys pulled away, Sonny smiled at Chris and raised her eyebrows. "I'll take a small." She said and Mitch got even happier, glad that everyone was excepting him back.

He handed Sonny her shirt and pulled her into a hug, which completely threw Sonny considering the two hardly talked, but she returned the quick hug nonetheless.

As Mitch went around the group, handing them their shirts and giving them a hug, Demetri and Hawk ran out of the dojo where the senseis were and made a beeline to Sonny. "Okay, the senseis said they're ready to hear our speech." Demetri said and Eli gave Sonny a single nod. "Grab the easel."

Sonny nodded back, running to grab the easel while the two boys ran towards the sparring deck to get everyone's attention.

"Can everyone gather around?" Demetri yelled as Sonny set up the easel in between the boys. She had to part in their speech or their logo, Sonny made that clear to Demetri but she still wanted to help them. She hoped off the sparring deck and moved to stand me to Sam as everyone started to crowd around Demetri and Eli.

"It's been a long road, but we're finally all on the same side. And as a reward? The toughest test any of us ever had to face." Eli started.

"The Sekai Takai is the most prestigious karate tournament in modern martial arts history. For over a century, fighters from across the globe have gathered every two years to compete for the title of the World's Best." Demetri explained, Sonny mouthing the words with him since he and Eli stayed over the night before, running their speech by her and Moon about seven times before they all nodded off.

"If the All Valley is March Madness, this is the Olympics, plus the gladiator games and the kumite from Bloodsport all rolled into one." Hawk explained, earning a "hell yeah" from Johnny.

"If we win—" Eli cut Demetri off, loudly clearing his throat. Demetri opened and closed his mouth, looking back and forth between Hawk and his peers. "Excuse me. When we win, the spoils will be life-changing." He corrected, earning a nod from Eli, silently telling him he could continue. "But it's going to take all of our focus and all the wisdom our sensei's have to offer."

"Yes, which is why we decided to take at least one thing off your plates. Coming up with our new dojo name." Demetri announced.

"Yes! After some spirited brainstorming and ad hoc focus-grouping and also a dojo-wide vote, we have a winner." Eli said and as soon as the two of them grabbed the tarp to reveal their new dojo and design, Sonny brought her hands to her face and covered her eyes.

"We give you Miyagi-Fang Karate!"

As all of the students around her cheered, Sonny moved two of her fingers, letting her peak through her hands to look at the dojo logo. She jaw dropped at a cartoon image of Mr. Miyagi with fangs. Sonny was honestly shocked Demetri and Eli actually showcased it.

Sonny removed her hands from her face and turned around, watching as her sensei's walked into the home behind them, Daniel practically stomping.

Demetri and Eli watched the three men with furrowed brows. They looked down at Sonny, who stood in the front with, with confused looks. "Did he not like it?" Eli asked, making Sonny roll her eyes.

...

Sonny stood in the prize booth at Golf 'n' Stuf. Normally, it was pretty packed but since school was back, Sonny had a lot more free time behind the counter.

Her and Chris put a stool back there so who ever is on shift has somewhere to sit. She sat in the stool, playing with one of the prize yo-yos as she waited for people to come over and collect their prizes.

After about ten minutes of no one coming over, Sonny looked up when she saw two people walking over from her peripheral vision. She gulped when she noticed one of the boys walking over was Kenny and beside him was a taller boy Sonny had never seen before.

Sonny smiled at the two, walking towards the edge of the corner as Kenny rolled his eyes at another Miyagi-Do at Golf 'n' Stuf.

"Hey, Kenny. You guys have your ticket?" Sonny asked and without saying a word, Kenny handed her the ticket he got in exchange for all of the real tickets he won. Sonny looked down at the paper and just as she was about to tell the boys what they could get with all of their points, the boy Sonny had never seen before spoke up.

"You know my little brother?" The boy asked and Sonny looked up from the ticket to the two. Sonny smiled, turning to Kenny. "Not too well but Kenn—" "She's friends with Keene." Kenny interrupted, looking up at his brother.

Sonny watched as the older boys smile washed away. He turned back to Sonny and glared, making Sonny grow very nervous. This guy was definitely over twice her size, if he wanted to fight, he'd take her down instantly.

"You trying to get my brother to join your little karate dojo like Keene is?" He asked and Sonny's face scrunched almost immediately. "I didn't even know Robby was trying to get him to join. But..." Sonny looked to Kenny and shook her head before turning back to his brother. "Kenny can do whatever he wants. It's not up to me or Robby."

The boy watched Sonny for a second, trying to tell if she was serious or faking it. After a couple seconds he nodded and placed his hands on the glass the separated him and his brother from Sonny. "Alright. Sorry for assuming." He stuck his hand out for Sonny to shake. "Shawn."

Kenny looked up at Shawn with a betrayed look as Sonny looked back and forth between Shawn and his hand before taking it and shaking his hand. "Sonny." She introduced herself before turning back add Kenny back into the conversation. "So, what are we getting?"

Kenny scoffed, ripping the paper out of Sonny's hands. "Forget it. I'll save it for when I have more." Kenny grumbled, walking out of the arcade and towards the batting cages. Shawn watched Kenny walk away before he turned to Sonny and gave her a lopsided smile.

"Sorry about him. Have a nice day." Shawn said and Sonny smiled, nodding her head. "You too."

Not even seconds after the door closed behind Shawn, Robby came running over, eagerly slamming his hands down on the glass prize containers. Sonny jumped back a bit as Miguel, Tory, and Sam came in after Robby.

"What did he want?" Robby asked and Sonny shook her head. "Nothing. He came to get prizes but I guess he didn't like that I was the one that would be giving it to him."

Miguel snickered, sending a big smile to Sonny. "He's gonna hate coming back and seeing Chris."

Sonny laughed at Miguel's words until she noticed the glum look on Robby as he stared at the door and to Kenny and Shawn at the batting cages. She squinted at Robby. "What is it?"

Instead of answering, Robby walked out of the arcade and headed straight for the brothers. Sonny looked at Robby with wide eyes, shaking her head crazily. "Can someone tell me what that's about?" She asked, turning to Miguel, Tory, and Sam.

Miguel sighed as he watched Robby walk away before he turned back to Sonny. "He wants Kenny to come to Miyagi-Do." With that, he followed Robby to the batting cages.

Sonny watched Miguel leave with a sigh. She turned back to Tory and Sam, giving them a tired smile. "Do you guys want to turn in your tickets?"

"I didn't get any tickets." Sam said, shaking her head. Sonny turned to Tory and raised her eyebrows, silently asking if she had any tickets.

Tory reached into her pocket and pulled out her ticket and handed it to Sonny without saying a word. Sonny looked down at the ticket and noticed she had 300. She looked back up to Tory and smiled. "Alright! You have 300. What would you like?"

Tory looked around at all the prizes before she pointed at a bucket of bracelets, each one 100. "I'll just take 3 of those." Tory said dryly. Sonny's eyebrows furrowed but she grabbed the prizes for her nonetheless.

When she handed the three bracelets to Tory, Tory immediately gave one back to Sonny. Sonny's brows furrowed. "Oh, do you only want two?"

"No. One's for you." Tory said. "Oh!" Sonny's jaw dropped just barely before she slowly started to smile. She grabbed the bracelet from Tory's hand and slowly put it on. "Thank you." She sang quietly and for the first time since Tory came in, Sonny saw her smile.

Tory looked away from Sonny and out the window. Her eyes widened when she saw Robby and Miguel fighting Shawn and Kenny. "Shit!" She cursed, making Sonny and Sam turn to look at the fight.

Tory and Sam turned to each other before they looked to Sonny. "We've gotta go." Sam said as Tory raised her eyebrows. "You coming?"

Sonny shook her head, a small smile on her face. "No. I won't be able to have anyone cover the prize booth. But you guys go."

Tory and Sam nodded, both of them running out to help Robby and Miguel. Sonny sighed once they were gone, looking down at the bracelet Tory had just given her. It now sat right next to her friendship bracelet she shared with Demetri and Eli.
