Chapter seven
'friends or source'

Charlie and berger used both of their lasers wand to slowly get argon down, dawn looked at the two arms crossed as she looked, in the corner of her eye she saw the bad guys coming up, she also saw maya and liam on the other side, she smiled as she notices that they were safe, "get up" one of them said, talking to lizzie and big mac in his hands, dragging them closer to were charlie, dawn and Berger were stood, dawn looked at her friends in panick, hoping that they wouldn't get hurt.

"Carefull"dawn said quietly, not that anyone could hear her as she was just in shock at how they were dragging big Mac and lizzie, charlie looked at dawn, he saw how worried she was for her friend and the other almost stranger, she never really met berger and his brother in 5th grade, but yet she was still worried about him, dawn sighed looking at chalrie who was already looking at her, dawn nodded as charlie nodded in response.

"We give you the source and you let us go, right?" Charlie asked, making sure the plan was still the same, "all of us." Charlie added on, looking at argon who was still strapped onto the chair, dawn looked around to, making sure none of the people infront of her are trying to trick them, "abso- yes" argon said, nodding his head, he was mostly looking at dawn who was staring at him with her arms crossed, her eyebrows furrowed as she heard him stuble over his words, Irons nodded his head slowly, squinting his eyes at charlie.

Charlie held out the source, it made sounds making it sometime glow more of the color it was showing, "you sure?" Berger asked them, trying to see if there wasn't anything they could do to prevent them from giving the bad guys the source, but charlie nodded his head as he was sure from his decision that he had made, berger had now stopped with his lazer wand, making the metal that was keeping argon on the charlie loosen, which made argon move his shoulders back in release, almost a sigh was heard from his mouth.

Standing up charlie nodded, "alright, now release our friends." Charlie said, dawn nodded, still looking worried over at lizzie and big mac, who stood there being held up by someone dawn didn't know, argon held his arm up, "come on, just let 'em go" berger said, his voice echoing around the room, suddenly beeping was heard, dawn looked at her friends, she saw that their bracelets has been released, the guy who was previously holding them up pushed them forward, almost making lizzie fall.

The two ran to berger, but dawn stood forzen it was like she felt something was off, "what are you doin' here?" Berger asked his brother, berger raised an eyebrow at his brother as he waited for an answer, "i'm picking up my date." Big mac spoke, not really looking at lizzie, dawn then knew that Lizzie's date to the dance was big mac, berger also had the same realisation, "really lizzie? This is the older guy? My brother?" Berger asked, almost looking disgusted by the two infront of him, "how could you?" Berger asked.

"Oh i have no autonomy in my own decisions?" Lizzie asked, tilting her head as she spoke, her eyebrowd knitted as she waited for his answer, "you know what? You both betrayed me." Berger said, turning around so that he was walking away, "betrayed? I didn't know you liked her." Big mac said, looking confused at his brother who stood to him with his back turned, liam slightly chuckled as he watches the scene unfold, maya who stood next to him slightly slapped his arm, shaking her head as she herself was also slightly holding in her laugh.

"Charlie, give me the source." Argon said, holding up his hand towards charlie, charlie backed up, slightly turning to dawn as he backed up, he wasn't sure if he should trust the guy who stood infront of him, argon leaned forward, tilting his head slightly as he saw what charlie was doing, "oh come on." Argon said, he saw how unsure charlie looked, "i'm gonna keep it safe, i promise" argon said, making eye contact with Charlie but then with dawn, "or you're gonna keep it to yourself and use if for your own benefit." Dawn said, almost in a wisper, but still loud enough fot everyone to hear.

She tilted her head as she stood straight with her crossed arms, "oh come on! I wouldn't do that!" Argon said, now looking straight at dawn before he took a long breath as he then turned back at charlie, "hey, be a hero" argon said, a pause came to Charlie's mind as he looked at dawn, the blonde girl he has been trying to impress the whole night, maybe argon was right, if he gave the source to him dawn would start liking him, charlie sighed as argon's hand came closer to the source, "come on" argon whispered, grabbing the source out of Charlie's hand.

"Thank buddy" argon said, smiling at the source and charlie, argon stepped forward, stepping away from Charlie, "it's beautiful." argon said, silence floated around the room as dawn felt something was wrong, "it's a trap" dawn said, almost wispering again, only Charlie could hear what she had said, his eyes widened but before he could even say something argon was the first to speak, "lock 'em up" he spoke, charlie stepped back as guns pointed at his friends, almost not believing that they were tricked into giving the source.

"Put your hands up!" Someone yelled at the kids, dawn raised her hands to her ears instead of putting her hands in the air, dawn didn't know why she did but it was mostly a reflex she did, "what?"iron asked, looking confused at everyone who was closing in on a kids, dawn then realised what she was doing as she now put her hands up in the air, she wasn't scared or sad but she was angry at argon for lying to them, "you lied to us?" Charlie asked, anger was also tinted in his voice, dawn nodded.

"yeah we had a deal! What about our deal?" Dawn said in panick as someone with a gun came closer to her, "oh yeah, yeah business, man." Argon said, turning around looking at the kids, argon stepped off the platform they were on, walking to iron, "hey, let's keep it under wraps til we get it to the lab" argon spoke, dawn looked panicked at charlie who was now also looking at her, he had lowered his hand so she could hold his, but one of the people noticed now pointing their gun at the two, "hands in the air." The person spoke, scarring the two as they quickly let go of each other and putting their hands in the air.

Maya looked unfazed while liam was shaking, "hey, psst" maya said, trying to keep her voice quiet for the other, "mh?" Liam asked, not daring to look at maya, he kept looking at the person who was pointing a gun at him and his friends, "listen, we'll get out of here alive, i promise" maya said, now looking back at charlie and dawn who stood in the middle of everything, Liam didn't say anything, he just nodded his head but his eyes stayed in the same position, iron and argon talked while charlie put two fingers down, first he was holding up five now he was holding up three.

Dawn then realised he was making this action to maya, who dawn could see was now holding in her breath slightly, "wha- it's fake! It's a fake!" Argon said, yelling as his voice echoed, as charlie came to zero, argon yelled, "charlie!" He said, but before he could say anything else maya had pushed on the emergency shutoff, making charlie and the rest invisible as it was to dark to see them, "just business" charlie said, now grabbing dawn hand tightly as he ran away, maya grabbed Liam's hand as they followed the lead, making charlie and dawn follow them, the rest was following them to.

"Go go go!" Charlie said in a whisper, as they came to the top of the stairs, maya got the actual source from under her jacket, making dawn sigh as she saw that they had succeeded to trick the bad guys, the light's turned back on, "let's get to the elevator, come on" charlie yelled, still holding dawn's hand, he wasn't planning on letting go, he only held it tighter as they were running faster, "don't tell 'em where we're going!" Berger said to his friend, "watch out!" Dawn said, realising someone threw something up where they were, "grenade!" Maya said, dawn ket go of Charlie's had creating a wall between the explosion and them, Maya's jacket did the same, but it was to late, as the grenade exploded the group flew backwards.

"No!" Charlie yelled as he saw the source roll away from him, as everyone watched in silence as the source rolled down, it had suddenly fell of a platform, making it fall to the group, but before it could jersey grabbed it, "charlie we're free, let's go" lizzie said, standing up, dawn had fell through her knees, making  it for her unable to stand up on her own, liam sighed as he grabbed her hands, helping her up from the ground, "thanks" dawn said quickly, liam nodded his head in response, dawn looked at charlie who was still laying on the ground, he shook his head in response to what lizzie said.

"Not without the source." He said, charlie stood up, dawn groaned as she saw how the elevator doors were open but they weren't going to the direction of the elevator, charlie steppes forward, somewhere were argon could see him and him friends, "jersey, toss it to me" argon spoke, his voice echoing around the room, "hey argon!" Charlie yelled at him, just as argon looked up he saw charlie and his friend stepping forward, "playtime's over, kids!" Argon yelled at them.

"We're not kids! We're young adults!" Charlie and maya spoke, "and playtime is about to begin!" Dawn said, charlie looked next to him as he nodded his head to dawn, everyone activated their tools, as dawn flicked his wrist she had made one of the people float, before flicking it again making them smack into a wall, knocking them out, "go get 'em!" Argon said, pointing at the kids who stood taller then him, berger and Charlie stayed together while lizzie and dawn stayed together, chalrie went to the right while lizzie went to the left.

Yelling as lizzie began to float and yellow smoke started to form on m dawn's fingers, letting another of argon's men float in the air, just as jersey threw the source to argon dawn and Charlie noticed what the were doing, charlie had pushed a large push to argon making him scream and then run, while dawn flicked the man, who was now unconscious to jersey, making the two smack into each other, dawn noticed jersey stood up, holding his gun out to the kids, she formed a yellow energy source in her hands, pushing it towards him, making the gun in his hand fly.

Liam, who was holding the yellow lazersword, hit the gun, making in snap into two pieces, so that jersey was unable to use his gun if he needed to, "oh come on!" Jersey said, looking at dawn and liam who high fived, "get it get it!" Argon yelled, looking at the source that was rolling from the staires, berger and Charlie yelled as they kept shooting energy walls to the people coming close to them, "why don't you get it yourself?" Dawn asked, tilting her head as she lifted up argon in the air, yellow energy floated around him.

"No, no, no!" Argon said, trying to move out of the yellow energy source, "no? Okay!" Dawn tiltes her head as suddenly the yellow energy disappeared around argon, making him fall to the ground, "shoot 'em!" Argon yelled, dawn's eyes widened as she created an energy wall to protect her from the shot's that was being fired at her,"nonlethal!" Iron yelled back, trying to stop them from shooting at them, "well, they were shooting at us!" Argon yelled back, almost wanting to shoot the kids infront of him, "nobody touches the 'fro" berger said.

"Lizzie the source!" Charlie shouted at lizzie, making her fly towards the source that was laying on the ground, dawn gasped as she saw virginia run towards her, lizzie screamed as she felt the woman's hands on her foot, making lizzie fly down to the ground, virginia smirked as she bent down to grab the source, suddenly lizzie kicked Virginia right in the middle, Virginia groaned loudly as dawn put her hand infront of her mouth, "bon voyage!" Lizzie said, grabbing her backpack, swinging it to Virginia's legs making her fall to the ground.

"now dawn!" Lizzie yelled, while the backpack didn't go up dawn made the backback start by flicking her wrist, sending energy to the backpack making it tak off in the air, virginia screamed in horror as she let go of the source, lizzie catched the source just in time, lizzie looked at charlie, "charlie!" She yelled, trowing the source to him, making him catch it and then run off, "hurry up!" Lizzie yelled again, wanting to leave this place.

"Charlie run!" She yelled, charlie ran to the other side, dawn was so in her mind that she had forgot to look infront of her when suddenly someone l stood Infront of her, "bonjour!" Dawn said, ducking under as she tried to escape the person, "why am i speaking french?" Dawn asked her self, as suddenly she was tripped by something, making her fall to the ground, the other person had catched up to her, holding up the gun they were holding, pointing at dawn.

"Oh god" dawn said, moving her fingers as suddenly the gun began to float up, out of the hands of the person, she crushed the gun by energy before dropping the gun that didn't look like a gun somewhere else, standing up the person threw a punch but dawn bucked down m dodging the punch she was about to receive, "i'll have you know" dawn spoke, not knowing why she was speaking while fighting someone, dawn flicked her wrist, making the person she was fighting float in the air.

"i failed french" dawn spoke, flicking her hand to a wall, making the person smack into the wall, knocking them out, "oh, that must hurt.." dawn said in a whisper,  dawn looked up as she saw how charlie was blocked by a big guy, dawn ran up the stairs, charlie noticed her as she nodded, he suddenly started to lay on the ground, the guy lookes at him confused,  "what are you doin' ?" The guy asked, charlie looked at dawn who already had formed a yellow energy ball in his hands, preparing to knock the guy away.

"getting out of the way" charlie said, "for what?" The guy asked, confused he almost turned around, but before he could dawn pushed the ball towards the guy,making him float then fall hard on the ground, "her" Charlie said, pointing at dawn who stood there, with another yellow energy ball in her hand if needed, "okay, we have to get to the elevator!" Dawn said, going over to charlie, grabbing his hand to help him stand up, the yellow energy ball had stopped to form as she made it disappear.

"That was awesome!" Charlie said to dawn, a smile painted on his face as he stood up, "thanks!" Dawn said, grabbing his hand as she guided him to the rest of their friends.

"Let's get to the elevator!"charlie yelled, dawn followed him while maya, lizzie and liam both also followed him, as they were almost to the elevator iron walked infront of them, charlie screamed as he saw iron, dawn's eyes widened as her instinct told her to create a yellow energy ball and she did, holding out her arm making sure they weren't going to get hurt, berger and big mac had also joined the friends, suddenly more and more people started to surround them, dawn lost focus of her energy as the ball started to fade.

Charlie grabbed her hand, bringing her closer to where he was standing, making sure they wouldn't hurt the girl who was standing infront of him, "no! No! Let go of me!" berger yelled as they all started to grab the kids, "stop stop let go of them!" Dawn said, she was about to attack the person who was grabbing maya,  only to be grabbed by iron, he put his hand on her mouth making her shut up, "let her go." Charlie said, looking at iron, standing up slowly, "you fought well, kid" iron said, still holding onto dawn strongly.

"Now hand it over" he spoke, dawn tried talking, telling charlie to not hand it over, shaking her head violently, Charlie noticed as he shook his head, "i'm not gonna let you steal from my dad" charlie said, charlie stood up straight, hiding the source behind him slightly, "whatever he's told you is a lie" iron spoke, not looking at dawn who was still held in his arms, "Charlie, I don't know if you've noticed, that's kinda your dad's thing, lying" iron spoke, dragging dawn with him as he started to walk closer to him, charlie backed up slightly as he noticed that iron was walking closer.

"Isn't it? He ever tell uou about what happend that night when we found the source? Hm?" Iron asked, looking at charlie thrn at dawn who was struggling against his hold, but he didn't care as he then imidiently looked back at charlie, "he mention that i was right there with him?" Iron asked again, not hearing anything come from Charlie as he was still backing up slightly, "that's me, I'm the guy who got his face blown off so your dad can run around pretendin' he's some damn hero." Iron spoke.

dawn had calmed down, not that she wanted to call down but it was because of how tight iron was keeping her mouth shut she had received less oxygen, making her feel faint, dawn knew she wasn't going to pass out, but it would take her a few minutes to regain the oxygen she now needs, Charlie turned around about to run away as iron grabbed Charlie's shoulder with his free hand, making charlie fall to the ground again.

"Stop running" iron said, pushing the weak dawn to the ground, making her slightly pass out, she cursed to herself as she lost conscious, "no!" Charlie yelled at him, there were two reasons chalrie yelled at him, one was to answer the question he said, and two because of how the girl he liked since 4th grade was laying on the ground, groaning, Charlie started to breath heavy, thinking about everything iron had said to him, "you're a liar! That didn't happen! He found it." Charlie said, when he was done yelling at him he looked at dawn.

Who was turning around, holding her hand to her head, trying to stop the bright light from coming on her eyes, groaning as she felt her head hurt, "humanity was given a gift from the stars that night and your father stole it for himself." Iron spoke, still grabbing a hold of Charlie's leg, pulling him closer, "no" charlie shook his head, afraid to make eye contact with iron so he looked at dawn, who was still in the same condition she was a few seconds ago, breathing slowly as she tried to get more oxygen in her body.

"You don't really know your dad, do you?and you think your dad's a hero? Not if you saw what i saw, kid." Iron spoke, shaking his head as he thought back to that night everything happened, dawn started to regain power to sit up a bit, moving towards somewhere where she could lean, but before she could iron grabbed her leg pulling her closer to him, "no!" Charlie yelled, iron grabbed his hand where the source was shown as suddenly iron looked out of it, the source was showing him the prediction for the future.

The two kids looked at each other as they saw iron's eyes turn yellow, now confirming that the source was showing him things.

Suddenly a clapping sounds came from down the stairs, "bravo!" Argon yelled at iron, argon was the one making the sounds, iron slowly regained his mind back, his eyes turned from yellow to his normal eye color, dawn and charlie looked at each other with wide eyes, "i never doubted you for a second."argon said, as he stopped laughing he laughed, dawn and Charlie stayed on the ground, almost scared to move an inch, iron looked to argon instead of the source, he saw the people he works with drag the kids to argon.

Guns were pointed to their backs to make sure that if they did something that they would be punished, "all right, now bring it down here." Argon said, growing impatient with the kids and iron, dawn shook her head to iron, hoping he would see that she was shaking her head, "and the kids" argon said, turning his back to iron, iron looked at the source.

his eyes didn't drift to dawn and Charlie, grabbing Charlie's shirt, he made him sit up, grabbing dawn's arm he started to drag her, he knew Charlie would follow them if he dragged the girl, and not charlie himself.

this took way to long to do omg, i swear only this chapter took 2 hours to write 🙁

i'm so sorry i haven't uploaded in almost a month but it was because i had a lot of test the first month and the first month in school are the most important test because that will show your final grade 🙁

ANYWAYS I QUITE LIKE THIS CHAPTER TBH 🤭 i hated writing fight scenes so i tried my best 🤭
