Chapter Seven

"Rise and shine!"

Mara groaned, covering her head with the blanket. "Go away Alex" She moaned under the covers. Alex rolled her eyes at Mara before pulling her pale blue blanket from her body. "Alex!" Mara cried out. She sat up with a childish pout, glaring at Alex softly.

"Come on, you are leaving this room today" Alex ordered her, walking over to her small clothes drawers. Mara rolled her eyes, "No, thank you" She smiled softly at Alex. The woman turned around with an outfit in hand, her free hand on her hip. "You haven't left this room in over a week, you won't eat or train. The only people you are talking to are Me, J'onn and Mon-El. Hell, you haven't touched a computer either" Alex listed off her many reasons as she placed the clothes on the bed.

Mara shrugged her shoulders, "And?" She questioned Alex. Alex gave her a pointed look, "I know that Kara's secret hurt you, but you can't just neglect yourself like this Mara" She sat next to her, wrapping an arm around her shoulders. "I'm not asking you to forgive her or talk to her, all I'm asking is for you to get out of this room" Alex exasperated, looking at Mara desperately.

"Breakfast bap and chocolate cake from Noonans?" Mara asked, as sweet as honey. Alex shook her head, "Fine!" She agreed before leaving the room.

Mara was quick to get dressed, oversized pink sweater paired with dark blue jeans and a pair of dark pink converse. She looked in the small mirror, her hair was about ninety percent blonde and ten percent washed out purple. Quickly brushing her hair, Mara was about to grab her most recent book when she heard a knock.

"Yes Mon-El?" She asked, opening the door with a smile. Mon-El rolled his eyes at Mara. "Good morning to you too little lady" He smiled back at her. Mara closed her door behind her, "You seem...extra happy, get a massive tip at the bar last night?" Mara asked him as they walked away from the barracks.

Mon-El sucked on his teeth at her question, "Actually I have something to tell you" He walked in front of Mara, placing his hands on her shoulders. Mara felt a sense of dread, her eyes turning yellow. "You're not leaving are you?" She asked him, her voice small as Mon-El only broke out in a bigger smile. "I'm not leaving, it's something else...someone else" Mon-El clarified, "Kara and I are dating" He told her gently.

Mara's eyes mixed of dark green and yellow, "Oh, okay" Mara nodded. Mon-El looked at Mara confused, "You're not mad?" He questioned her. She shook her head, "Took you both long enough anyways" She shrugged her shoulders before walking away from him. Mon-El was still stunned, "She took that better than I thought" He spoke to himself.

As Mara neared the main floor, she heard lots of clapping. DEO agents seemed to be in perfect lines as Kara, in her suit, walked towards the monitors with a man leaning against her. Mara got a brief look at him, her blood running cold. "No" She whispered.

Alex ran to the man, hugging him closely. Mara walked up to Winn, "Who is this guy?" She asked him quietly. Winn stopped his clapping, "Alex's dad" He whispered. Mara gulped, "Jeremiah" She remembered Alex talking about how CADMUS had taken him fifteen years ago, when Kara and Mon-El were taken two weeks before she was kidnapped herself.

~~~
Mara stood outside the med bay as Alex looked over her father. Her eyes were dark orange as the man met her gaze. He cleared his throat loudly, "I won't bite" He called out to Mara. She glared at him as she walked in, "Doubt it" She responded coldly. Mara received pointed looks from the sisters and J'onn.
Jeremiah shook his head at her, "No it's okay, you're Mara right?" He smiled at her softly. Mara stayed put, clutching her book tightly. "I get it, you were taken by CADMUS twice and you are being cautious. I'm not offended" He talked calmly. Mara scoffed, "I don't need your opinion nor do I need you to try and sway my reasons. You know why I don't like you, and unless you give me reasons besides being Alex and Kara's father to like you then maybe I'll consider trusting you".
Jeremiah was impressed. While Alex, Kara and J'onn seemed angry by Mara's words, Jeremiah only let out a soft sigh. "You remind me of Kara when she first came to stay with us, just on the other end. Instead of curiosity you're overly cautious. I respect that" He nodded his head to Mara. "I don't want your respect" Mara snapped back, her voice harder and more harsh.
"Mara! That's enough" J'onn scolded her softly, giving her a small glare.
"I came as soon as I heard"
Mara smiled as Mon-El came into the room, his presence sent a wave of security as he ruffled her hair lightly. "Mon-El of Daxam. We meet again" Jeremiah nodded at him. Mara sat on a chair away from the group, looking down at the floor as everyone spoke.
"I'm glad you're okay. I was worried after you let us out that Cadmus was gonna..." Mon-El was cut off thankfully by Jeremiah, "Cadmus would imprison and torture me for betraying them?" He finished Mon-El's sentence, everyone besides Mara wincing silently at his words. "Yeah, well, you'd be right" He admitted.
Alex cleared her throat, "Dad, the uh, the damage to your hand is...It's extensive" She explained to her father, adding to the dark cloud that hovered in the room. "It's a punishment for helping Mon-El and Kara escape" Jeremiah sighed, "But I would do it again, in a heartbeat" He smiled at his daughters.
Mara wanted to gag at Jeremiah's selfless comment.
"I'm so lucky you found me. I'm so lucky to be back with you two". Mara scoffed at his sappy moment. "Mara" J'onn sighed dangerously. "Well, it's more than luck" Mara ignored the warning with arrogant ignorance. Jeremiah seemed very interested, "What do you mean?" J'onn asked her with a dangerous look. Mara closed her book, placing it on her lap. "We got an alert that Cadmus was moving a weapon, and we don't get alerts unless they're releasing a video or we catch them red-handed" Mara explained the patterned CADMUS had presented them with so far.
"But we did catch them red-handed" Kara pointed out, her tone being the softest one Mara had heard all day. "Though... No, they were waving their red hands around in the air literally like they just didn't care" Mon-El chimed in, agreeing with Mara. As Kara tried to protest Jeremiah butted in.
"No, Mara and Mon-El are right"
Mara almost dropped her book as she looked at the man confused with dark orange eyes. "You need to keep your guard up. 'Cause Cadmus does have a weapon" His tone was grim. "What is it?" J'onn questions Jeremiah.
"A nuclear fusion bomb" Jeremiah revealed with as much dramatic flair as a twitter post. "They're going to destroy National City, and blame it on hostile aliens" Jeremiah added, making Mara groan, "Can't you deliver information without sounding like a fuck boy youtuber".
"How did Cadmus get their hands on it?" Kara ignored Mara's cruel comment. "Well, they didn't steal it. They built it". Mara felt her body tense, not even knowing how she managed to talk. "Using the radiation they mined from Kara's heat vision when she was in their custody".
Kara quickly tugged on Mon-El and Mara's arms, motioning them to follow her outside. Mara sat still for a moment until Mon-El gave her a pleading look. With a grunt, Mara followed him.
"What?"
Both Mon-El and Kara had this disapproving look pointed right at her. "Why are you being so rude to Jeremiah?" Kara crossed her arms. Mara rolled her eyes, "I don't like him, not a secret" She answered bluntly. Kara sighed, rubbing her temples. "Look, I know you're mad at me but please don't take it out on Jeremiah, he's been through a lot" She pleaded with her.
Mara's eyes flared purple for a moment before turning a soft violet. "I've been through a lot! You lied to me for weeks after the Martian attack, that fucked me up by the way. So if I was angry at Jeremiah for that I'd say it" She snapped at Kara. "Mara" the older blonde called out. Mara began to walk away before turning around, "You're not my mother, stop trying to act like it" She hissed before walking away.
~~~

Mara mixed her dark crimson paint as she sat up right. Her latest painting was...interesting to say the least. She just let her emotions guide her hand as Tchaikovsky's Swan Lake Szene played.

The painting was a planet, abnormal lava emerging from the cracking ground as a dark red sun began to rain fire upon the people. A baby in a pink blanket was held in a young girl's arms. Her face was unreadable, as dirty blonde hair swayed with the winds of destruction.

"Nice painting"

Mara turned to see Alex standing at the door to her little room. "Thanks" Mara turned back, putting her paintbrush in some water. "Did Kara ask you to check up on me?" Mara asked as she cleaned her hands of paint. Alex sighed, "When are you gonna start talking to Kara, she's worried about you". Mara looked up at Alex, biting her lip. "I know. I just...I need time. It's not every day you find out your foster parent is Supergirl" Mara sighed as she walked back over to her bed.

Alex couldn't argue, she had a point. Mara trusted both Kara and Supergirl, to find out that they were the same person can feel sort of violating. There were things only Supergirl should have known about Mara, now she knows that Kara knew too?

"Kara wants you to come to Family Dinner tonight, us, Mon-El, J'onn and both our parents" Alex told her, sitting on the bed together. Mara took a deep breath, her shoulders slumping at the invitation. "It would mean the world if you came and you'd be giving Mon-El some company" Alex knew that the mention of the alien would make her cave.

She rolled her eyes at Alex's mention of Mon-El. "Fine" She mumbled. Alex let out an excited squeal, hugging Mara from the side.

~~~
Mara smoothed out her pale blue sweater. She decided to look presentable to please Alex. So she wore black jeans, dark blue converse with a pale pink spaghetti top and her blue sweater. She kept her hair down but tied some front pieces to the back. She had brought a small book to read, hoping to avoid talking to Kara or Jeremiah.
She took a deep breath as she and Mon-El walked up to Kara's apartment door. "Nervous?" Mon-El asked, seeing Mara's agitated state. Her eyes light grey as she fidgeted with her necklace. "It's the first time I've been here since..." Mara trailed off, shaking her head.
"Let's just get this over with"
Mon-El knocked on the door, it was only a few moments before it was opened by a very bubbly Kara. She smiled happily at Mon-El as he kissed her cheek. Mara rolled her eyes at them, walking past the happy couple. She looked around, seeing Maggie with Alex happy. Mara was glad, it was obviously the result of a loving coming out moment.
"Mara?"
Eliza walked towards her with a soft smile, the warmness of a mother radiated off her like smoke. Mara wondered if maybe her own mother would have been the same. "Um" Mara kissed her teeth, "You must be Dr Danvers, I've read a few of your research papers. Good reads" Mara smiled at her, hoping the woman would like her. Why did she want this woman to like her?
Eliza softly caressed Mara's fading hair, her warm hand on Mara's hair and cheek. "You are a beautiful young woman, you remind me of Kara when she was your age" Eliza commented. Mara smiled softly, the comparison making her stomach flip. She might be angry at her, but she still loved Kara and knowing that her adoptive mother liked her made her happy.
"Thank you Dr Danvers" She spoke up, knowing Kara was standing behind her. "Please call me Eliza, you're family" Eliza gave her a tight hug. Mara nodded as the woman parted, she made a beeline for the window. With her feet tucked under her body, Mara opened her book and dived into the world beyond the words.
Eliza walked up to her daughter, "So that's her?" She questioned quietly. Kara was staring at Mara with sad eyes, "Yeah, that's her" Eliza noticed her dull tone. She wrapped her arms around her shoulders, kissing her temple softly. "Don't worry sweetheart, everything will work out. That's how family works" She told her. Kara smiled at Eliza, a silent thank you in the air.
Mara didn't move from her place when J'onn came in. "You sure you're okay?" Mon-El asked her softly. Mara looked at him with pink eyes, "In my head, I never left here Mon-El. As stubborn as I am, I still love her even if I hate her for lying to me" Mara admitted to him softly before J'onn made his way to them.
Mon-El made his exit as the Martian stood before the teen. Mara rolled her eyes, "Can't I just read my book?" She asked him. J'onn laughed at her quietly, "Here" J'onn held out a piece of paper to Mara. She furrowed her eyebrows as she opened it. Her eyes shifted from grey to a luminous orange. "Return ticket to... J'onn what is?" Mara cut herself off as she looked up at J'onn.
"I know this past week has been hard, so I have arranged a few days for you to return home" He smiled softly at her. Mara leaped into his arms, with a smile the man hadn't seen in days. "Thank you" She whispered. J'onn hugged her back, "You've grown on me" He rolled his eyes. "Like a leach" He added before walking back to the little party.
"A toast!" Kara announced. Alex dragged Mara away from her little space and handed her a soda. "To coming home" Kara smiled as everyone brought their drinks together. "Coming home" Everyone repeated, besides Mara who stayed quiet. Once everyone had a sip, Mara stepped back. "Now, obviously, this is going to be a time of adjustment. But I hope you'll all be patient with me" Jeremiah spoke up, "I've seen and done things that I wish I hadn't" He admitted, causing a dark cloud to form over the room. "Dad, don't" Alex spoke in a soft tone.
Jeremiah sent her a reassuring smile, "No, sweetie. If I'm going to move forward, I can't ignore my past" He spoke clearly. Mara felt the vomit rise in the back of her throat as he looked her way, "Cadmus... Changed me, they tried to break me" He kept his gaze for longer than Mara felt comfortable with. Her back pocket felt heavier as he continued his little toast.
"But in the process, they made me dangerous. I know their weaknesses, and I'm here... To work with all of you to make our planet safer" He smiled at his daughters, wife and then looked to J'onn. "So, if you'll have me, Director, I'd like to return to the DEO, formally" His words echoed in Mara's ears.
Mara stood still, her breath hitching as the conversation continued. She noted the excitement on Alex's face and the pleading eyes from Kara. She felt her stomach drop when J'onn hugged his old friend, happy for his return.
"I'm in the DEO for two months before I can pee alone, and he just walks right back in?" Mon-El's comment took Mara out of her spiral, making her drop her book with a light thud. "Say something nice to him. Now" Kara gritted her teeth at her boyfriend. Mon-El cleared his throat, picking up Mara's book as he did.
"I just wish you were coming back at a time of peace, sir" He corrected his previous comment, "We all do" He added. Mara scoffed as she put her book on the counter, not caring for the looks. "What a lucky thing that you have returned when you did" Mon-El tried to take the attention of Mara, seeing the dark violet bleed slowly from her iris'
Mara walked away from the group, staring out of the window as Mon-El spoke more. Her hand went to her necklace, the cool gem keeping her grounded. "Ignoring the past" She spoke up, not realising that Kara had pulled Mon-El aside.
"What Mara?" Alex asked from behind, walking up to check on the girl. Mara turned to face everyone, her dark violet gaze landing on Jeremiah and Jeremiah alone. "You said you didn't want to ignore your past" She repeated the beginnings of his toast. Jeremiah furrowed his eyebrows at Mara as she walked closer, now aware of Kara and Mon-El who looked at her with grave worry.
"I'm sorry that CADMUS hurt you Mara, I can't imagine what that was like for someone so young..." Jeremiah tried to console the young blonde only to be cut off by her. "STOP LYING!" She screamed at him. Her voice sends shivers down the adults spines.
No one had ever heard Mara react like this. Mon-El walked up to her, placing a hand on her shoulder, "Let's go little lady" He spoke in a soft tone even after Kara had just kicked him out. Mara looked up at Mon-El, like a child who was kicked and for a moment her blue eyes flickered at him.
"Tell them or I will" She looked back at Jeremiah, tears welling in her eyes. Jeremiah didn't respond, instead looking at the adults to pull Mara. Instead Mara pulled out a glass and metal syringe from her back pocket, holding it up for him to see. "Where did you get that Mara?" J'onn spoke up, shocked to see it in her hands.
"Asked Winn to take it out of inventory before I came here" Mara's voice was hollow, almost as if all her emotions had been vaporised. She looked back up at Jeremiah, her lack of emotions making him take a step back. "Remember the truth now?" She asked him, her voice cold and calculated. Jeremiah's eyes widened, "Mara I..."
"J'onn would know if you were being controlled, or brainwashed like Hank Henshaw. Tell them" Mara's voice felt heavy, pleading with Jeremiah to admit what had happened. He remained confused. "Mara whatever stunt this is, stop it" Alex asked her, a sting of anger in her voice that hit Mara.
Mara's body slumped as she looked back at the syringe in her hands. "You were the one who injected me with the kryptonite when Lillian took me" Mara looked at him, her eyes no longer revealing her emotions at that point. She was empty, like the truth had dried up the moment it was released. "Tell me, Jeremiah, is that part of the past you don't want to ignore" Mara asked him. A string of gasps and whispers followed her statement.
Kara reached out for Mara, gently turning her towards her. "Mara". They way Kara said her name, heavy with disappointment and betrayal hit her harder than before. Mara looked up at the hero, seeing that she wasn't angry or shocked by Jeremiah. She was disappointed in her for telling the truth.
"I... I thought you'd understand...guess I was wrong" Mara fought back her tears as she handed Kara the syringe. She then turned to J'onn, grasping her book that held her ticket to Midvale. "You know I'm not lying, but if you still allow him to work by your side then know he hurt someone just like his daughter, his Kryptonian daughter" She began to speak seeing from her peripheral that Mon-El was glaring heavily at Jeremiah.
"Can you really work with a man like that?" She asked him, praying that he would say something. J'onn's eyes flickered red as she knew he was reading her mind. "I'm sorry Mara" He told her psychically. Mara shrugged, "Thanks for the ticket J'onn, makes leaving this city easier" She spat before walking out the door.
Feeling someone catch her wrist, Mara turned around seeing Jeremiah looking at her with wide eyes. "If I had known..." Mara cut him off by pulling her hand back. "Don't touch me" She spat at him, "You knew, and you still did it anyways, you're no man. You're a monster" She seethed with venom before walking out the door and slamming it shut.
Mara walked down the hallway before she heard the door open and close again. She stood still, taking a breath before picking up on the conversation.
"Sir, as a scientist, you have to believe in questioning. That's all I was trying to do in there" Mon-El spoke to Jeremiah. "But you hurt Mara, and I can't stand for that. Not after everything she's been through" His tone was harder, Mara felt somewhat better at the fact Mon-El believed her and was trying to protect her.
"I know who you are" Jeremiah stated. Mara could hear Mon-El's heart miss a beat. "And?" Mon-El sounded wary, Mara could tell he was clenching his teeth. "That's it" Jeremiah brushed off, "I know who you are. And I doubt Kara would like the truth" Jeremiah added before leaving Mon-El out in the hallway.
Mon-El turned to see Mara looking back at him, her eyebrows furrowed while her eyes were puffy and now dark orange. "What did he mean?" Mara asked him as Mon-El walked closer to her. He bit the inside of his cheek, "Mara let's just get you back to the DEO" He tried to change the topic. Mara shook her head, "Don't lie to me too. Please don't lie to me Mon-El" Mara begged him softly, tears falling from her eyes. Mon-El sighed as he held her shoulders, "Okay, just not here" He told her gently.
~~~

Mara folded her clothes, packing them into her bag. Her eyes were raw from crying that night. Mon-El stayed with her until she fell asleep, humming a lullaby to help soothe her. She wanted to leave National City and never come back.

She went to grab her books when her phone buzzed. Mara had suspected it to be Kara, the blonde had been calling her to try and convince her to stay in the city. She answered it without looking properly, her eyes flashing a maroon red.

"Kara stop calling me..." She snapped the moment the call went through, "Please" She whispered softly. There was a moment of silence before a voice spoke up and it wasn't Kara's.

"Mara, it's Winn"

Mara cursed herself under her breath before composing herself. She hasn't seen Winn since he was taken by Armek and they stopped him from blowing up the whole block. They both needed a few days to process, especially when he remembered what Armek did when he was connected to Winn's mind.

"What's happened?" She asked, registering his voice sounded off. She heard his own sigh from the phone.

"It's Jeremiah"

Mara bit the tips of her fingernails, her leg bouncing gently as Winn showed her what he had found. Her blood was boiling as her eyes bled dark red. "I hate him" she hissed, hitting the table causing a dent in the metal. Winn made a noise of shock at her actions while Mon-El grabbed her shoulders.

"Hey, you need to breathe" Mon-El told her, cupping her face in his hands, "I know she hurt you, but we need to tell Kara" His face was filled with worry as he remembered his promise to Winn. Mara bit her bottom lip, wiping the tears from her eyes. "I know" Mara whispered.

The thought of seeing Kara made her want to travel back in time, to when there was no Jeremiah and she was clueless to her secret. She wanted to curl up on her couch and watch old movies, argue about the conspiracy theories behind their productions. She missed Kara.

~~~
Mara leaned against the lockers as Mon-El, Winn and herself waited for Kara to come in. Winn was the one to contact her, Mon-El not wanting to allow their own disputes to get in the way and Mara flat out refused, afraid of her emotions taking over.
As the door opened, Kara walked in only seeing Winn. "Winn, you wanted to see me?" She asked walking up to him. "Yes. Give me... Just..." Winn stuttered as Mon-El closed the door, catching Kara's attention. "If this is what I think it is..." Kara warned the two men as she turned to leave. Mon-El holds her shoulders gently as he guided her back to Winn, "No. Nope. Turn around. Back to there" He told her.
Mara stepped into her sight, fidgeting with her necklace, "Listen, Winn found something and we think you should know about it" She told her timidly, her eyes a royal blue looking at the floor. Kara felt a tug at her heart and her stomach knotted, "Okay" She sighed.
"Okay. So, earlier today, J'onn's giving Jeremiah a tour of the facility" Winn began to explain, "Right. So, when J'onn stepped away, I... I saw Jeremiah trying to break into the DEO mainframe..." Winn explained gently before Kara cut him off. "Wait, wait. Stop for a second. Were you spying on Jeremiah?" She questioned Winn.
"Kara..." Mon-El tried to bring back her attention, "Did you put him up to this?" Kara asked her boyfriend in an accusatory tone. Mara looked at Kara, "Kara!" She shouted at her. Kara looked at Mara stunned at her, "You are not listening!" Mara slumped her shoulders. "Winn found something" She exasperated at the older blonde with light blue eyes.
"A 'big' something" Winn added. Kara looked at him and then back at Mara, she could see the desperation in her sad eyes. "What?" She asked him with a deep sigh. "He actually broke into the DEO system!" Winn exclaimed before Mara elbowed his side, "Too loud" Mon-El whispered. Winn bit his lip before continuing, "I'm sorry. But it sure as hell looks like Jeremiah is spying on us" Winn whispered.
Kara was stunned for a moment, looking at all of them but her gaze stayed on Mara. "Please believe us...I need you to believe us" Mara walked closer to her, "Believe me".
~~~

Mara stayed back as Kara and the boys went to confront Jeremiah. She didn't trust herself to stay calm if he lied his way out of it. She leaned against the wall, texting Henry as she listened in to the conversation.

"Earlier today, you accessed some highly classified files from the DEO mainframe" Kara stated to Jeremiah. "That's true. I did" He nodded, sending a small look to Mara as he did. She clenched he fist at him, her eyes a deep violet.

"Why?" Kara asked as J'onn and Alex walked up to the conversation. Mara bit her bottom lip at the expression written on Alex's face. "I tried to use my old passkey to look at some case files" Jeremiah began his very reasonable explanation, "But the access codes have changed, so I did a workaround to get inside" He admitted. "What were you looking at?" Kara asked him.

Jeremiah took a breath, "Case files from the last twenty four months. I wanted to see what my daughters had been up to. The crises you faced. The people you saved. The adventures you've been on" He told them.

Mara gritted her teeth at him, she didn't care if his heartbeat was normal or if J'onn refused to read his mind to prove it but she knew he was up to something else.

"I've been away so long... Case histories are just a way for me to feel like I was there" Jeremiah sighed, "A little".

Mara didn't stay after that. She stormed back to her small room, standing there while her anger took hold. She could still feel it, the burning inside her body as the liquid kryptonite made her feel like a walking rag doll. Her breath laboured as it filled her lungs, making each breath she took feel like breathing in poisonous gas.

She gripped her hair as her body stumbled back into the metal wall. "Stop" She hissed from under her breath. All her insides felt like acid bubbling and trying to escape by eroding her skin and bones. "Make it STOP!" Mara screamed as she fell to the floor.

Something was wrong. She could feel it, her eyes screamed as she opened them. Slowly she looked around her room, trying yo catch her breath. A green dimming light caught her attention. It was wedged under her bed, a small little pebble. Mara crawled over slowly, her body weaker with each movement.

"Kryptonite" She heaved. She shot at it with her heat vision, her whole body in agony as she did. It all stopped after a moment. Mara felt like she was on the receiving end of an ice bath. She knew who did this.

~~~
Mara hadn't been near the reactor core room since the White Martian attack. She stayed out of sight, waiting for Jeremiah. She knew the computers here were the only ones that had access to all DEO files even the redacted ones. How else did she link her phone up and find out about Mon-El.
"What are you doing?" J'onn's voice filled the room. Mara froze, she didn't expect him to be here. "I'm sorry, friend" Jeremiah sighed as if he was disappointed in J'onn, "I've changed".
Mara did her best to stay quiet for a moment. That was until she heard glass breaking. She moved from her hiding spot, "Stay away from him!" She blasted Jeremiah back, her eyes a deeper violet then ever. Jeremiah glared at her from the floor.
"Your their father!" She screamed, her heart pounding in her ears. "How could you do this to them, to Eliza, to Alex..." She lifted him by the collar of his jacket, "To Kara" She punched him back. Jeremiah stubbled back, leaning against the wall as he wiped the blood from his nose.
"Yet she still hides her secrets from you" Jeremiah shook his head. Mara furrowed her eyebrows at him, "What are you talking about?" She questioned him. Jeremiah smirked lightly, "There's a reason why Kara is so... fond of you" He added. Mara took a step back, his words resonating in a creepy way.
Jeremiah pulled out a syringe, "Remember this?" He asked before grabbing her hair and injecting her with the liquid before she could react. Mara fought against his grip for a moment before slumping on the floor. Jeremiah kneeled down before her body with a frown.
 "Kara's daughter or not, I can't have you interfering".
