Chapter One
The soundtrack to Pyotr Tchaikovsky's Nutcracker echoed throughout the art room. The ash blonde with purple haired teenager hummed along as she painted on her canvas. She happily picked from the blues she had mixed on her small circular palette.
The teen took a few steps back, admiring the work she had done and to see if she needed to add anything to it.
"Why bother with looking for mistakes, you're a literal genius Mara" a boy called out from behind the teen, over the music. Mara turned around to her best friend, Henry Brookes. Mara turned off her music before setting her paintbrush into the water jar.
"You're just grumpy that I chose not to walk with the seniors at graduation" Mara said, tilting her head at her friend. "No actually it's the fact you are leaving me in this dump for the next three years" Henry corrected the girl, placing his hands in his jacket pockets.
"I am not spending another three years learning knowledge I already know" Mara reasoned with Henry, crossing her arms over her chest. Henry nodded along with her statement. "I know, it's just I'm gonna miss you. After next month you'll be in National City in one of the best colleges in the state" Henry reminded his best friend.
Mara saw the look in his eyes, it was the same look that every new orphan had in their eyes when they were brought to Madam Cordial's Home for Wayward Children.
Abandonment.
Mara dropped her arms, her own face fell knowing the pain he was feeling. "Henry" Mara choked quickly pulling her friend into a hug. "I promise... I swear to you, I will never abandon you no matter what" Mara told him, hugging him tighter.
"Hey! Be careful!" Henry squeaked. Mara quickly removed her arms away from Henry. "Sorry! I forgot about my strength" Mara apologised to him. "Nah, it's good sis" Henry laughed off, giving Mara his signature smirk.
'Mara Zorl to the principal's office'
Mara rolled her eyes at the intercom announcement. "What did you do now sis," Henry asked. Mara punched his arm softly, not wanting to break it. "Nothing actually Mr Blame Game" Mara scoffed, packing up her stuff.
"Make sure Brett doesn't fuck up my painting!" Mara called as she jogged out of the art room. Henry shook his head looking at the painting of the alien city Mara had an obsession with. "Yeah Mar, no promises" He grimaced knowing what was gonna happen when we left for History.

Mara walked to the principal's office, the familiar dull yellow walls making her wonder why she was called. As far as Mara can remember no one knew she was the one behind Mr. Curran and the green paint incident.
Mara knocked on Principal Miller's door before opening it. "Ms. Miller? You wanted to see m-" Mara was faced with a gun to her head. "Ms. Zorl I highly suggest you follow instructions" a female voice called out from behind the six foot man holding the gun.
"Who the fuck are you?" Mara asked, more offended by the gun than scared by the guy who wants to kill her with it. "I'm Lillian Luthor and I believe that you my dear need CADMUS"
Department of Extraterrestrial Operations
Supergirl landed on the platform in the DEO. She looked around for Alex Danvers and Winn Schott wondering what her next mission was gonna be.
"Supergirl!" J'onn J'onzz called from his circle of computers. "What's up, Alex called. Said you needed me" Supergirl asked the director as she made her way to the circle of computers.
Winn turned his chair to Supergirl, playing with his pen as usual. "An alien teen missed three of her classes" Winn stated, putting a file on the screens. "Mara Zorl? I don't understand why a teen missing classes is in need of Supergirl?" The Kyrptonian asked the agents.
"When the president gave aliens citizenship Mara became a red flag" Alex told Supergirl before changing the screens with her tablet. A picture of Mara beside a very familiar pod appears. "It's kryptonian?" Supergirl gasped at the sight.
"Mara is identified as an unknown species as she came to earth as a baby. Since no one truly knew what a Kyrptonian pod looked like and since no one can test her blood work or anything really. Mara was presumed a last survivor of an alien race that was unknown and extinct at the time of her arrival on Earth" J'onn explained to Supergirl who studied the pod with extreme detail.
"Kara?" Alex called using her sister's real name. The heroine looked to her sister, her eyes full of hope and sorrow. "How old is she?" Supergirl asked her team, her voice full of concern. "Fourteen. And we believe she was kidnapped by CADMUS" J'onn stated, folding his arms over his chest.
"Why do you believe she was kidnapped?" Supergirl asked her boss. "If Mara even misses one more day of school she won't be able to graduate early next month" Winn butted in looking through Mara's file. "Wow this girl is a genius!" Winn exclaimed, surprised at what he was reading.
Alex, J'onn and Supergirl gave his usual 'really' look. "She is super smart, okay" Winn defended himself. "Do you have her location?" Supergirl asked, ready to find Mara. "We used the radiation of her alien rock necklace which says that she is... just outside Midvale" Winn said before a gust of wind turned his chair.
"Was it just me or was Kara very interested in Mara?" Winn laughed nervously under the gaze of Alex and J'onn. Alex just sighed and went to form a swat team for CADMUS.

Mara sat in the moving van, her feet and wrists bound by chains. Lillian sat across from the alien teen, watching her very carefully. "You are very calm for someone who has been kidnapped" Lillian stated, Mara's deadly gaze remained on the Luthor.
"If I'm not you'll have me killed with some weird alien tech" Mara snarled at the woman, looking to the henchmen beside her with their guns ready to fire at any moment.
Lillian raised an eyebrow at the teen. "True. Yet you are quite... exquisite" Lillian complimented the girl as the van came to a halt. "Why did we stop?" Mara asked, looking as the men forced her up by the chains.
Lillian saw the hint of fear in her eyes, smirking at the teen. The woman didn't speak as she had her men practically drag Mara into the warehouse.
She had Mara strapped with steel braces onto a medical chair. The teen's hair was pulled back harshly by a hair clamp.
"What do you want from me?" Mara asked, her calm demeanor faded as her fear surfaced. Lillian smiled at Mara, "Don't worry dear". Lillian held a syringe of glowing green liquid and placed it near Mara's arms.
Mara never knew the feeling of a needle until Lillian jabbed this one into her arm. "AHHHHHH' Mara screamed as the green liquid entered her system. She noticed her veins turning green.
"What...wha" Mara slurred trying to speak. She felt so weak as all her energy had been sucked from her body like a vacuum. Mara could barely breathe as she watched Lillian draw her blood.
"Now, Mara Zorl, we finally know what species you truly are... Kyrptonian" Lillian spat, walking away with her blood. Mara tried to fight whatever Lillian put in her system but it was no use.
"Don't fight it alien, you can't win" One of the men spat at her.
A loud crash caught the attention of the henchmen. Mara looked to her right, seeing the bright sunlight illuminate the familiar symbol of the Earth's greatest heroes.
She watched as Supergirl punched the two henchmen closest to her.
The rest shot bullets, making Mara's head start to pound at the sounds. She watched with hazy eyes as Supergirl punched the men around her and destroyed their guns. She saw the woman in blue speed over to her, muttering in a language she couldn't understand.
Mara felt her head drop, unable to keep it up. "Hey, Mara stay awake sweetie" Supergirl pleaded, lifting her head with her hand. Mara could barely respond, Supergirl's voice becoming more distant.
"Alex.... Coming .... Get medical"
Mara closed her eyes to Supergirl's worried look.
