Opie's POV

It was early Sunday morning and me and mama was getting ready to go to church. I was tying my tie when mama came into my room and asked if I was ready to go. I nodded my head and went out the door and to the truck. I opened the door for mama and helped her inside. Then drove towards the church I was thinking about asking someone out I was just tired of being lonely. So planned on asking the preachers daughter. She was nice to everyone and has been wanting to go out with me for a while but I've been busy with the farm.

After church I went up to Hannah. Hannah had blonde hair and blue eyes your typical preachers daughter.

"Hey, Hannah how are you?" I asked walking up next to her.

"Well hey Opie! It's so nice to talk to you. I'm doing great how is that sweet grandma of yours doing?" She asked while smiling up at me. Hannah was probably about five foot and three inches where I am six foot two.

"She's doing good she's 'round here some where probably talking to one of her quilting friends. Look Hannah I was wondering if you'd wanna go out sometime?" I asked smiling at her.

"Of course Opie you just let me know when." She replied.

"How about tonight about five thirty? Dress warm okay?" I asked she nodded her reply and said okay. I went to find mama to take her home. I found her among other lady's I tipped my hat to them and ask mama if she was ready to go she nodded and said her goodbyes. We got into the truck and left. She broke the silence.

"So I saw you talking to Hannah and she looked pretty happy mind telling me what that was about?" She teased me.
"I asked her out tonight we might go over to hank's har and grill to dance." I said. I really had to learn how to plan my dates. Shaking my head I cleared my thoughts to focus on mama.

"Well that's nice Opie I'm glad you're finally putting your self out there. It's not healthy to work all the time." She said shaking her head.

"I know mama." I said laughing.

"Well I hope y'all have a good time tonight" she said just before getting out the truck.

Later that night I was on my way to pick up Hannah at her house. I got there and went up to the door to knock and was met by the preacher.

"Hey son how are you tonight?" He asked while inviting me in. The preachers wife died a couple of years back so it was just him and Hannah.

"I'm okay sir how are you doing?" I asked while looking around. They had a nice house. Had a lot of pictures hung up and a really homey feeling.

"I'm doing okay. Just getting by as best I can. The crops are doing good this year aren't they?" He asked.

"Yes sir me and Jacob Farley have been working hard to bring them in. Where is Hannah is she almost ready when might be late?" I asked.

"Hannah didn't tell you that she was going out with Mitch?" He asked. Of course she didn't tell me! Why couldn't she have text me I mean I'm not mad she went with him I'm mad cause she didn't have the decency to text me.

"No sir she didn't but I'll go I'm sorry for just showing up." I said apologetically I got up and went to the door.

"I'm sorry Opie I thought she told you. It's okay if you just show up I need the company. I'll see ya next Sunday if I don't see you before then." He said with sorrow. I felt bad for him because he lost his wife.

"Bye Mr. Davis." I said while shutting the door and walking towards my truck I texted Hannah.

O: "Hey just wanna say thanks for the heads up about going with Mitch. Glad I didn't get my hopes up"

H: Omg I'm so sorry Opie I completely forgot I will make it up to you I promise. Her reply. I scoffed I don't want you to make it up to me I thought. I'll just keep working and ignoring women.
