Wattpad
"What's Wattpad?"
A PM dropped in my Instagram inbox.
My heart skipped a beat. He had been seeing my Instagram statuses for a long time but had never messaged me personally...
It's an online platform where you can read and write stories...I typed.
He could be seen typing again.
Oh! You're a writer?
Any hard copy?
No. I'm an amateur.
I write online.
Wattpad is really good if you want to join. It really changed my life.
He he... I may join.
You're welcome. Tell me your username once you do.
Sure
If you wanna read my work, my ongoing project is BUTTERFLY WINGS.
I'll read and ttyl
I shut the phone down and took a deep breath. If he reads my writing, there's a high chance he may not like it. Hope it doesn't change his opinion of me.
And that night itself, a message popped up on my notification board.
He had voted on the last chapter I'd written. Some feeling hit my heart, knowing he had actually read it. But why? Why would his read matter? Yeah... Every read counts... You're a writer... Every reader is equally important to you... But he's not another reader... OR is he?
The tension of exams and the daily medley of life made me forget all about him for a few days.
Meanwhile I got an editor who was ready to edit my novel to a commercial level. I was pretty excited and posted it on my IG status.
That night, another message popped up...
Progress?
Yeah... I finally got an editor.
I read your book.
My heart was pounding wildly as I expected him to say how crappy that was.
My hands lingered over the keyboard for a long time before I typed.
So, did you like it?
I read only up to the 12th chapter.
Fine...
It's good.
Thank you so much....I exhaled on relief.
But not of my type.
Why? What's your favorite?
Maybe something fancy like fifty shades?
My Jaws dropped open... Okay... He was reading erotica and bdsm or whatever that book was. What the heck?
So like boys... I finally typed.
And then he went on all about how he liked twilight and had the whole series read and then The Fault In Our Stars and all other sorts of books.
He liked mythological stories too. I scrunched up my nose, cause that was my least favorite genre.
I don't like mythology retellings
Every writer has his own way of perceiving things.
That's true too... Maybe I'm not of the right age. I'll like it at some age.
He he... Maybe.
So what about exams?
I was suddenly reminded of the book lying forgotten on my table. I had exams in one week time and here I was, chatting with some random guy whom I hardly knew.
But the magnetism of the chat was alluring and I couldn't just bring myself to say a goodbye.
Yeah! I'm studying Biochemistry and everything is going tangentially above my head.
Sit straight and adjust the angle bro...
BRO????
Whoa! That's a new form of address.I stood speechless for a while, staring at the phone.
