We all want to be someone's
Want to be someone's someone
With somebody, we can't live without
The apartment was dimly lit, the drama that Sehun had picked out playing on the tv screen had just ended up being a soft white noise behind Soon-ok's loud thoughts. Her eyes had zoomed out on Ji- Chang Wook-s unfairly beautiful face as she absentmindedly fed her baby, with two fingers holding up her nipple to ease the flow of her milk. For a few moments, the woman had forgotten about her best friend's presence beside her.
She hadn't wanted to admit it at first, but leaving the hospital and returning to her apartment had never felt so lonely. Even though a part of her was joyful about her daughter, there was still a tiny void in her heart that felt extremely empty. A void so small and yet so extremely essential for everything to be right. The truth was that Soon-ok knew exactly what it was, or better said, who had the key that fit right in.
Someone whom she had professed her hate to, then suddenly begged him to stay with her while tears streamed down her cheeks. God, what had gotten into her? What she had done was completely irreversible and she had to physically restrain herself from groaning out loud in frustration as she was feeding Sohee who soon would be falling asleep. Teeth drilled into her lip, nibbling thoughtfully as she let the memories of that day replay before her eyes.
She remembered the way he had wanted to give her a ride home despite looking more like a wreck than her. Baekhyun had stayed with her the entire time, from the moment she had gone into labor to the time of her departure from the hospital. Although he insisted that he was fine and had rested enough, she knew that he had probably not slept a single wink just to watch over her. She had tried to explain to him why she hadn't needed a ride, but the grumpy frown on his forehead and the priceless pout twisting his lips had been too much of a show to keep on trying. Not to mention the ulterior reason for his displeased expressions.
Hence, Soon-ok wasn't sure whether she was thankful to Sehun for barging in at that moment or if she wanted to fulminate him because he had shattered whatever spell that cupid had fondly sprinkled upon them. She couldn't help but side-eye her friend as she recalled the scene.
"Soon-ok ah!" Her best friend's dark voice had boomed in the hospital room, startling everyone within it. Sehun's brows were naturally curved into a frown as his parted lips fell apart to let in some air into his heaving chest. Despite the looks of his rush, Baekhyun found it extremely deranging that he looked so fresh and stylish while he had yet to change the clothes he had been wearing for the past few days. The rival had barely noticed how his inner turmoil had taken over the muscles of his face, eyes unconsciously widening into an offended glare. It was the way that the guy hadn't even spared him a glance before settling next to the woman, taking her hand in his as if it was a casual habit. Something that Baekhyun could only remotely dream of doing.
"Who are you?" Baekhyun hadn't been able to help himself, nor the gritting of his teeth peeking from his slightly parted lips, which had only prompted Sehun to quirk the corner of his lips as he looked at the rival up and down before losing interest in him right away. The man felt like a warm kettle with water boiling within him, but he couldn't snap at him.
"What do you mean?" Sehun had cocked a brow while shrugging one shoulder, and nonchalance radiated off him prompting the already threatened Baekhyun to bite deep into his lip.
"I am her husband."
That day, Soon-ok had seen the real-life definition of a jaw hitting the floor. And truly, she shouldn't have found Sehun's mischievous shenanigans towards Baekhyun so funny, but every time she thought of it, a chuckle would naturally bubble in her throat. She trusted that Baekhyun had found out about his joke the moment Sehun had erupted in his usual hysterical laughter, not at all attractive if you asked her. Whether he had or not, he had seemed extremely flustered as he had nibbled on his lip thoughtfully.
Her little reminiscing moment had ended along with the weak but demanding whine from the newborn baby in her arms. Soon-ok flinched, but not because of her daughter's sudden cry, moreover, the realization of how her thoughts had for the umpteenth time drifted towards Baekhyun. She used to be so good at controlling her thoughts just a few days ago when Sohee had still been waiting within her womb, but now, after the craziest day of her life, spent with him- he was all that could think about. Seemingly whether she wanted to or not.
After cradling her baby closer to her other breast, to which Sohee eagerly started feeding off, Soon-ok let her gaze fall onto the dark screen of her phone. And there she was again, drifting off into deep thought, this time feeling the urge to see if there was any new notification from the male. It was futile, she knew that there was none. Her phone was not silenced, she would have heard it otherwise, but a part of her disputed that perhaps she had forgotten about silencing her notifications after all? Soon-ok shook her head to push away the piling thoughts in her head which were doing nothing but creating a chaotic mess.
"You don't need to check your notifications all the time," She scolded herself sternly while detaching the little Sohee from her boob and eventually pulling the shirt over her chest again. She whined a little in protest but Soon-ok was quick to hush soothingly and settle her against her shoulder, accordingly patting gently on Sohee's back until she would burp as she should have.
"What was that?" Sehun made his presence known again and Soon-ok had barely managed to hide her surprised flinch. The confused frown on his face made her realize that he was referring to the little sentence that she had murmured to herself out loud. Quite honestly, she didn't think it was anything that he needed to know. The woman felt how her cheeks were growing warmer as embarrassment washed over her. She thanked the dear dim lighting of the room for not making it so obvious to the male. If he knew that she was blushing and sighning longingly over text messages, she was never going to hear the end of it.
"Nothing!" She beamed, a little too quickly and to her dismay, Sehun was someone who knew her, sometimes better than herself. The young man cocked an incredulous brow at her and she huffed out loudly. He wasn't buying it, never was going to either.
"Nothing. At. All." Soon-ok gritted through her teeth, wishing that he would let her suspiciousness off the hook this one time, but his expression just became more dramatic. There was a hint of playful seriousness in his mischievous eyes, but despite this, Soon-ok found herself feeling extremely self-conscious.
The young mother brought her baby away from her chest and held her up before her, gushing out loudly at her cuteness. "Aren't you such a pretty, little flower?" Soon-ok's voice became high-pitched as she cooed at her clueless daughter, successfully avoiding to answer Sehun's expectant gaze. A genuine smile teased her lips upon watching the little Sohee, seeing how her big eyes stared wonderingly into her own, and the way her chubby cheeks pushed out the tip of her tiny tongue. She really looked like her.
"Aigoo! What you say?" She exclaimed to her baby, "You want to go to uncle Sehun? Of course, my baby!" Truth was, the baby hadn't made a single noise but was carefully given to the male who wholeheartedly pouted at the woman in complete defeat. It didn't take long before Sehun was distracted by the cuteness of his best friend's daughter, which allowed her to relax against the sofa once again. Without his eyes on her.
Soon-ok swore to cut down her wrist the moment she reached out for her phone once again, despite what she had told herself not to do. Frantically she entered Baekhyun's chat, only to see that the messages that they had exchanged two weeks ago had not been pushed up by new ones. It was as if the silence in their dead chatroom ringed into her ears and disappointedly, Soon-ok huffed out, staring at their old texts.
Did you get home safely?
20:30
Yeah, I did, thank you!
20:50
I'm glad.
21:00
Please take care.
21:01
Thank you, Baekhyun. You too.
21:05, read
Their awkwardness was lamely obvious, like an orange in a box of strawberries. But their intentions still shone through, the gentle worry on Baekhyun's side, the soft urge to make sure that she was fine while Soon-ok had never smiled more at any texts she had ever received. The dryest messages in her texting history, not to mention. and yet the most precious so far, they were that to her. The sensation of the corners of her lips slightly kissing the apple of her cheeks had Soon-ok drop her mouth back into a frown as she threw the phone farther away from herself.
No smiling at any texts, she decided. But the heavens had already witnessed her to be the biggest hypocrite on earth, as she barely noticed her actions when the memory of Baekhyun kissing the crown of her head made butterflies flutter their wings in her belly.
Was she that fond of him suddenly?
Scratch that suddenly.
She had always been.
"Soon-ok" Sehun deadpanned, breaking once again her train of thoughts. Soon-ok rolled her head to the side, meeting his stone-face with her bored one. In her head, she was trying to figure out what was about to leave his mouth. Perhaps something important, or something completely stupid and irrelevant. A waste of breath. There was never a way in between when it came to Sehun.
The two best friends were aimlessly staring into each other's eyes for what felt like minutes, and the girl took it upon herself to shoot her eyebrows up in what Sehun swore was annoyment and question.
"If you want to think about Baekhyun in peace just say that." The friend smirked knowingly at her.
That little-
"You need to leave."
"Hey-" Sehun cried when she pinched his earlobe mercilessly, "Soon-ok!"
***
The weather had significantly cooled down during the past three months, but Baekhyun had only noticed that the moment he had stood in front of the locked glass door before him. Shivers ran down his body and his hands ached, exposed to the frigid wind.
It was cold, and his heart was beating inside his throat.
The breeze froze the tip of his nose and grazed his red cheeks as he stood there, in front of the corner shop that used to sprout with color. His gaze was solemn as the dusty interior reflected in his orbs, oh, so many were the strings that his heart had willingly attached to this one place. The place he had done everything for.
Baekhyun's chest ached at what he was seeing. He just wanted it to be open all over again, and so couldn't help himself when he let his eyelids fall close, taking away the gray view before him. Only to reminisce what this place used to be. Laughter mixed with the soft melodies of an old radio dancing mellowly in the air, the smell of wood and fresh paint was still impregnated deep into his memories. The image of his mother behind the cashier desk, in one of her beautiful flowery dresses covered by an apron that had probably seen every kind of paint to ever exist. The youthful happiness that lightened up the whole room whenever she would smile along with the glittering streaks of acrylic on her cheeks.
Byun Sohee was someone he missed dearly. Someone, he could never have back.
Baekhyun would give away everything he had to go back in the past, just to inhale her scent once more, to hear her gentle timbre scold him ever so affectionately, to hold her one last time before she'd disappear. But what good was it to think of such things? What ifs brought nothing but pain, and yet Baekhyun had these last few months found himself pondering about things he could've done differently more and more often.
Not only regarding Byun Sohee.
Hence, most of his what-ifs were about someone he was so used to calling his rival. A woman who had failed to trust him, who had hurt him, but despite so, he had forgiven the moment he had seen her and he had no way to explain it to himself. He didn't want to either, all it had ever brought him was confusion, a storm of emotions and thoughts that he had no time to sort out. Ever since that day in the grocery store, his attempts to forget all about her had gone, melted into the wind as if he had never even tried. Normally he would be frustrated with himself, but Baekhyun felt nothing of the sort.
Instead, he just thought.
Thought about her, a lot.
Spinning on the balls of his feet, Baekhyun headed away from the abandoned building. In his head, he knew exactly what he had to do to get a hold of it, but for the first time in his life, he had no courage, no confidence whatsoever, and it broke his heart. He felt it tear apart on the inside, it really broke him that he wanted something so bad, but the road before him was cut off by an enormous black hole and the empowering emotion within him was none else than fear. A fear that had him cowering with his hands into useless fists.
A heavy sigh tumbled down his lips, barely thinking about his actions as he fished out his phone from the jeans pocket. It was the muscle memory of his fingers that worked its magic as they unlocked it and clicked into the messaging app. A little seed of expectation would always grow in his chest whenever he took out his device, deep down knowing that there was nothing new to see. Baekhyun ignored the fact that he had been doing those motions repeatedly during the passing days, until they had become a routine. But It had been two weeks since he heard from her, Baekhyun had counted, every single day. He was surely out of his mind, but at that point, he had stopped caring. All he could think about was the woman who had just become a mother. Her name was constantly dancing on his tongue and the image of her begging him to stay by her was tattooed into his eyelids, her voice lived in his head day and night.
If all of that had a turn-off button, Baekhyun would have used it, trust him. But real life was not that creative, nor was he a strong man, hence extremely weak. All he could do was indulge as the woman invaded every little space there was to occupy within him. If only she was right next to him, all of these emotions streaming at the slightest thing reminding him of her, all of those thoughts could be finally put to rest.
His fingers itched to write a message and Baekhyun had no idea what he even wanted to say to her, quite honestly, he just thirsted for her attention in an unhealthy manner. It felt as if the hole in his chest had gotten emptier now that he had seen her, now that he knew that she had seemingly forgiven him, and yet their chances to see each other were completely gone.
Well, it wasn't that he couldn't see her. Technically, he could. But two weeks had already gone without them exchanging any more words, and it would be weird if he suddenly texted her. Surely he would come off as clingy, Baekhyun concluded. Plus, although they had some unsolved matters, wouldn't it have been odd if he suddenly brought them up again after three months? Every little opportunity his heart would present to him would be shut off my his brain, it felt like his heart and brain were constantly bickering on the inside and he was so tired of it. He longed for a moment of peace.
But then he realized.
Nobody was denying him that peace except for himself. A scoff broke the silence inside of his car as he twisted the key and the engine started vibrating.
Jaw clenching, he murmured spitefully, "This is ridiculous."
***
"Yah!" Sehun screeched at top of his lungs as he kept being pushed towards the door by his dear best friend. Talk about mood swings, he would've never thought that they would be even worse after pregnancy. "Why are you kicking me out!?" he protested, pouting hysterically, rooting his big feet into the floor and refusing to budge.
"I DON'T KNOW," Soon-ok wailed back, fruitlessly trying to push her giant of a friend forward. "You just have to! I have a feeling something is going to happen!" She explained, only to realize how stupid she sounded. But she couldn't deny the expectant churn in her belly, the intuition of something good, but it wasn't for her to share with Sehun.
"What do you mean feeling?" Sehun yelled, arching his neck to look at her. "What the fuck are you now? Spiderman? Do you have the Soon-ok tingle?"
"Yes, I'm fucking Spider-man! Now go!" She insisted, feeling as if she was running against a wall, and truly her best friend wasn't very far from being one, with his tall and slim figure. He was ridiculously strong. "I don't wanna!" Sehun crossed his arms on his chest and puffed air in his cheeks. Soon-ok slumped against his broad back as she let out the most frustrating groan in history. "Are you a kid? Do I have to drag you by your ear?!"
"Yeah!"
Sehun hadn't expected Soon-ok to stay true to her threats, and before he had known it her fingers were pinching his ear and she was dragging him to the door.
Sehun did leave in the end. Not because he had wanted to, but because Soon-ok had started to pinch his ear a little too hard, and it was starting to get numb, the male did not want any more trouble. Though, to him, there was no doubt that she was acting weird, almost as if she was expecting another guest and wanted him to leave at all costs.
He had never thought that a day would come where he would say that his best friend had kicked him out, and he swore to himself that he wasn't going to let this one go easily.
On the other side of the wall was Soon-ok, slumping against the door with a deep sigh. The apartment had within instant become so empty, so deafeningly quiet when Sehun had left- had been forced to leave. Only then did her actions down upon her, the woman was flabbergasted and confused by her own self.
"Why...Why did I just do that?" She whispered to herself, unconsciously pacing back and forth in front of the entrance. "Right, the Soon-ok tingle," she remembered. Now that she had followed her instinct, what was she supposed to do? Soon-ok stood in the hallway, feeling a little troubled, perhaps awkward would have been a better word to describe her. Her stomach was churning with nervous excitement and her hands clamped together on her belly, teeth drilling into her lip as she accomplished nothing.
Minutes passed. Eventless minutes.
Soon-ok was starting to think that she might have shooed Sehun away for absolutely nothing and that she was actually a very stupid person who had believed in childish, romantic expectations living in her head for three seconds. Now she was going to spend the rest of the day, feeling lonely and cold, too embarassed about the scene she caused to even dare and ask her best friend to come back.
Just when Soon-ok had decided to go check on her sleeping daughter, the doorbell rang loudly, making her do nothing less than jump out of her skin. Her heart was beating inside of her throat as she for some reason started running to the entrance, almost crushing her face on the pavement when stumbling on a pair of slippers that Sehun had randomly left on the floor. If Sohee would have started crying by anytime now, Soon-ok would have probably not been able to hear it over the thumping heartbeat in her ears.
Her hand reaching out for the handle was shaking ever so tremendously, and anyone else would've thought that she was being chased by a killer, but deep inside she was just praying for him to be behind that damned door. Cold metal spread underneath her palm, her trembling fingers felt weak- so excited that she was gradually becoming numb, nonetheless, she jerked the handle downwards and pushed the door open. With a low screech, the wooden entrance revealed the person currently breathing heavily on the other side.
Just for a few, unfairly fast beats, her eyes had been able to glimpse at the longing gaze trapped within those droopy eyes of his, before he was completely gone from her view. For a second, she had feared that she had just hallucinated, but before she could even breathe, a warm body had collided with hers. A pair of gentle hands found themselves roaming her back almost carelessly, feeling every inch of her back. It was as if his fingers ached for her warmth ever so desperately, to feel it seep into their tips. Suddenly, her cheek was squished against his shoulder, and all she could remark was how she was losing herself in his aroma and fervor, but still incredibly shaken by her quickly beating heart. Her lips gasped for air at his unexpected embrace, but every single cell in her body welcomed him eagerly.
No words left the male's lips, although she would've loved to hear his voice. But she couldn't find it in herself to complain as his arms gradually tightened their hold around her, pressing their hearts as even closer, if that could have been humanly possible. Soon-ok completely surrendered to the comfort of his embrace, soon inhaling his scent of pinewood and rain deep within her lungs. Memories of their countless bickers while in his car, to the moments of shy bliss where the two would've almost given into their attraction but then retreated just in time, flooded her mind.
Baekhyun's heartbeat was so fast, even faster than hers, and she could feel it pulsating on her breast flush against his chest. Her beat wouldn't match his, but together, they formed a completely new rhythm.
It felt as if Soon-ok had dived into the deepest waters there were to ever exist, it was as if she could breathe underwater as she pressed herself closer into the male's chest, exploring those parts of the ocean that no one had ever been able to put their eyes on. She felt herself melting into putty when Baekhyun's soft, relaxed hum fanned down her neck, his lips brushed the surface of her skin, making her head spin all at once.
Had time once again slowed down for them? She had completely lost the sense of it the moment Baekhyun had pushed her to his chest, and now with her eyes closed, surrounded by his warmth, she was merely a snowflake endlessly floating in a beautiful glass ball. But even those snowflakes met the end of their journey, where they would gently land back onto the ground, in hopes of being shaken again.
The kind of shaking they were about to experience was nowhere as calming as the ones of a glass ball. It was more like the glass ball got thrown into the ground and shattered into pieces when their embrace was cut short by the loud cries of the small Sohee being unattended in another room.
The rivals bolted away from each other as if they had been caught doing something absolutely unacceptable. In all honesty, neither of them knew why they kept reacting like that every time their "moments" were interrupted...Like two teenagers getting caught kissing in either's room by their dad who had forced them to leave the door open for no risk of funny businesses. But there was no damn dad, and they had long ago grown out of that stage.
And yet, like fools, in the presence of each other, they only knew how to act on their emotions- which had up until a few days ago, been the complete opposite of what they usually told each other, only to be startled by their own selves.
A few uneventful moments passed with the two trying to let what had just happened sink in. Baekhyun was looking away while scratching his nape, an embarassed pink hue caressed his cheeks. He could not even recall when was the last time he had let his emotions lead him like that. It had been as if his heart was running way ahead of him, dragging him along. He was breathless.
Clearing her throat, she mumbled, "I'll go attend her before she gets angry at me," and Soon-ok, for some reason, spoke in softer tones. The tension was playing tricky games, shattering loudly, but then it came back ten times heavier and stronger. As Baekhyun nodded understandingly, they both ignored the odd sensations in their chests and headed towards the baby. Well, for Baekhyun, it was merely following Soon-ok around cluelessly. To be completely honest, he did not even know why he was there, and the realization was dawning on him like a bucket of ice-cold water.
Meanwhile, the woman picked up her baby girl and immediately cradled her to the chest, hushing softly and soothingly, but surprisingly enough, it wasn't working. Sohee's tiny face was all red and frowny as she screamed on top of her lungs, showing her toothless gums. Soon-ok clicked her tongue, she guessed that she had been a tad bit too late. Who would've thought that even newborn babies knew how to get offended.
A frustrated pout sported on her lips, and her eyes focused on her daughter whom she was rocking back and forth. Baekhyun almost felt like his presence had been forgotten, perhaps he shouldn't have headed there so impulsively. But just as the thoughts crossed his mind, Soon-ok had looked up at him with wide, slightly expectant eyes. A glint of question shone in her orbs and he prayed on his knees that she wouldn't ask him what he had needed from her because he honestly had no idea himself. He had just wanted to see her, but putting it like that felt so lame. Or worse, was he supposed to say that his chest had been aching because missed her? That was sappy, and so not Baekhyun.
However, never once had the man been able to predict Soon-ok's actions, and this time had not been an exception. With a blooming smile on her blushed lips, Soon-ok carefully reached her crying baby out to him, which sent his jaw hanging open.
"Wanna hold her? Maybe she won't cry in your arms." She suggested, way too bubbly. The previous tension had disappeared into thin air as she allowed tease to enter her voice, making Baekhyun a little nervous, but he knew how to hide it by now. He could also make her nervous. He knew how to. Without further ado, he picked up his jaw and welcomed the little angry Sohee into his chest. Her cries made him wince as they were a lot louder now that its main source was in his arms. "Aren't you a grumpy one," He scolded halfheartedly, slowly swaying Sohee from side to side. With his lips close to her ear, he let out gentle, melodic hums, which were working like a magic spell on the baby girl as she gradually calmed down. Eventually, her straining voice had lowered to imitate the soothing hums leaving Baekhyun's lips, his softly vibrating chest being as comforting as a fluffy pillow.
Soon-ok watched the scene with astonishment, and for reasons she was never going to name, she could not deny that seeing that man with her baby in his arms...Handling her so well did do funny things to her heart. A few flips, hence, mortal jumps even. Teeth drilling into her lips, she averted her gaze elsewhere for a short minute.
"That was easy-peasy," Baekhyun smirked, standing tall and confident in his newfound talent. He gave Soon-ok a winning half-grin before turning back to Sohee, to which he nuzzled his nose into her small head, wishing he could hug her closer. The view made Soon-ok's heart flutter so violently she thought that her chest was about to rip open.
What the hell.
Had his eyes always been so sparkly? So starry as they looked at Sohee, with gentleness so familiar, like the sheer touch of a petal underneath your fingertips.
Her eyes were straying,
betraying her resolve in every single way, by tracing lines around his slightly messy hair falling so prettily over his forehead. Or the perfect bridge of his nose down to his plushy mouth. Watching them move as he mumbled something sweet to her daughter, she couldn't help but remember what else those lips had done when glued onto her skin. The sheer memory alone had been enough to send an electric feeling chilling down her spine. It was only then that she truly realized how complex their relationship was, no matter how hard she tried, there was no label that would ever be appropriate for what they had become.
With a soft sigh, she settled herself down on the sofa, patting the spot next to her with one hand, motioning at him to come to sit down as well. Baekhyun followed suit, carefully holding a hand on Sohee's head as he lowered himself. He shouldn't have cared really, that their shoulders were brushing against each other, because they weren't in high school anymore, but everything about her made him feel like he was a hopeless teen experiencing love for the very first time.
The two sat in silence for a while, until Soon-ok finally asked the question that had been on her mind ever since they met again at the supermarket.
"How is everything at work?" She asked, prompting Baekhyun to let out a long, pensive hum as he relaxed against the backrest. Well, that was an odd reaction, she thought and angeled her body towards the male, so that he could see her brow quirked in question.
"What's that supposed to mean?" wonder manifested in her slightly higher voice as she tried to lock gazes with the male, but for some reason, he wasn't letting her try to figure out what he was thinking. Not that she would have been able to...
Baekhyun could only chuckle at her reaction while he shook his head dissentingly, only to have his smile fade away quickly with his laughter. Teeth drilled into his lips in an insecure manner, almost as if he was contemplating whether to tell her or not, or perhaps, what to tell her. Soon-ok could only sit there silently as she got lost in the view of him- of his expression subtly changing, one after one as his train of thought marched. But still, not a word from his lips.
He cleared his throat, absentmindedly playing with Sohee's tiny fingers, sometimes letting her capture his, and then breaking himself free, like a tug of war game.
"Everything is going great," He murmured, not completely sure of his choice of words- but he was thinking about it too much, really. He just wanted to get it off his chest.
"I think," he added, making the woman even more wondersome.
"I think?" Soon-ok repeated dumbfoundedly, only earning a slow nod from the distant male. "Mhm," He murmured. "I don't work there anymore, for a while actually." Baekhyun confessed, though his voice was void of any emotion, of any thread that could lead her to find out more on her own. A loud what!?, resounded in the apartment, prompting the little Sohee to squirm uncomfortably at the sudden loud noise. Soon-ok clamped her mouth close immediately but leaned her torso closer to Baekhyun, a silent encouragement to continue telling her what had been going on.
When he proceeded to lock gazes with Soon-ok, his eyes had turned ever so slightly hard and dark, his lips vacant of the gentle smile he had offered her daughter. Soon-ok swallowed, a bit taken back, but still refusing to break the eye contact.
"Actually, I got the promotion." Baekhyun breathed out, pressing his lips into a thin line. Soon-ok's mouth had parted as an immediate reaction, although she had no idea what she would have said. She had completely forgotten about the position that the both of them had relentlessly fought over, immaturely and pridefully. However, confusion swarmed her aching chest. Baekhyun felt his cheeks become obnoxiously warmer and warmer as her answer never came, cold sweat rushing upon his skin as Soon-ok's brows slowly furrowed with realization. He felt small, a little lost as he sat there on her couch, watching her expression change for what he thought was the second end of their relationship. And he couldn't even find it in himself to apologize, because he was not sorry. Not at all. He had come to a step closer to his goal and there had never been any space for pity. Because it didn't matter that she was a woman, pregnant, or single. Soon-ok's place as his rival had always been incredibly stable, there had never been anyone who could come remotely to her competence.
"Oh," She blurted out dumbly, her frown was still puckering at her features. No matter how much she tried to wrap her head around it, she just couldn't. There wasn't a single spec of disappointment in her, nor anger or betrayal like she thought she would feel. Like a part of her was telling her she was supposed to feel. Yet, there she sat, not the least bothered by the fact that her rival had won. Won.
Soon-ok understood that with or without the promotion, birthing her child had been the biggest victory she could have ever achieved. There wasn't anything else that could give her the fulfillment Sohee gave when she unconsciously flashed her pink gums into a wide smile that would within no time make her mother's heart leap.
"I am..." She trailed as she sought her words, "actually not even upset," A little laugh escaped her lips the more she realized it. She was happy, happier than ever, and that promotion would have never been what brought her to a better place even if it was what the past her would have believed.
Baekhyun's eyes were wide in disbelief as he stared at the woman before him, her lips curved in a subtle smile. "You're not...?" He repeated, dumbfoundedly cocking his head to the side in confusion. Soon-ok only eagerly nodded, widening her smile for him to be completely impacted by it. If he hadn't been holding the little Sohee in his arms, he would have grabbed his chest because her smile was piercing him right through the heart.
"So how is work after the promotion?" Soon-ok scooted closer to the man and gently took Sohee back into her embrace. Her eyes had fluttered close in sheer sleep while soft sneers left her lips. Soon-ok thought she would be more comfortable in her own bed.
"It was just great, it came with many good opportunities, our project was very well accepted and celebrated but..." Baekhyun started off positively, but eventually trailed off into his own thoughts, noticing how his every sentence would always reach towards a negative 'but'. He pursed his lips, gazing down on his clamped hands. He would have probably never continued if Soon-ok wouldn't have sat extremely close to him after putting the baby to bed, entering his tunnel vision with expectant eyes. "But?" She egged on. He had no idea if sharing as much as he was, was about to be a good thing, but her presence was like a spell cast on him. He couldn't refuse those curious orbs dying to know him better.
"I'm currently writing my resignation letter, I-" Baekhyun heaved a big breath, "I want to leave this job." It felt like he had dropped a bomb, because these were words that had for years swirled within him without a destination. But now that he had said them, it truly felt like they were about to happen. To say that Soon-ok was at a loss for words was a big understatement, she couldn't think of a single reason as to why he would want to leave his job after getting promoted. Nonetheless, she managed out a confused and breathless "Why?" Unconsciously, she leaned closer, swarmed by curiosity and wonder, causing Baekhyun's mind to go blank. He was torn between moving away so that he could think straight, or staying still and enjoying the warmth radiating from her, to savor the gentle sensation of her fingertips innocently brushing against the top of his hand
"It has always just been a temporary job for me, I've had ulterior reasons," Baekhyun started his story, letting himself relax against the backrest. "I needed a good source of income that could allow me to save up a big amount of money. There is this thing I really want to do...Hence, It's the only thing I have been living for," he admitted and fluttered his eyes close, "sleeping, dreaming, waking up and going to work, all of it- all of it was for this." He was aware that what he was saying wasn't making any sense to the woman, there were many thoughts rushing in his head, but he decided to clear his head and just speak freely.
"My mother, Byun Sohee, used to own an art shop. Growing up, it had always been a place of security, my escape, and my source of happiness along with the people inside of it. My mother, my father. We were a family, and the art shop was like our happy place. We weren't rich, but we were content. Mom was happy living her dream of selling art supplies, creating her own, and giving out art classes. It was simple like that." The images of the colorful shop immediately flashed before him, the wooden walls glowing in the warm sun and the soft breeze brushing his hair back as he watched his parents work on a painting together. Before he could be taken back to the endless trance of those days, Baekhyun snapped his eyes open.
He took a deep breath, "That was until my mother fell ill and passed away. Her loss ruined...Everything. The bond that I had with my father. He was devastated when mom died, so angry at himself that he couldn't save her, that he never earned enough money to get her proper treatment. I think being so impotent really anguished him, her passing took away a big part of him. But maybe that is an understatement," From his lips tumbled out a stifled laugh, full of disbelief. "because I can barely recognize my father anymore." Baekhyun sighed dejectedly and brought a hand to his face, rubbing his tired eyes.
"He is nowhere near the joyful man who loved the smell of wood and dirtying his hands with paint. Today, he is one of Korea's most wealthy and successful businessmen."
"Oh, and art makes him sick." The last sentence held a personal amount of venom, and it didn't go unnoticed by Soon-ok who was just sitting silently, letting every detail of this broken story sink in.
"He's married to a woman as far away from my mother as possible. A true material lady." He scoffed and for a second there was a sarcastic quirk on his lips, but it dropped as soon as he spoke again. "Who would have thought that men marry for money as well?" Baekhyun's fingers curled into his palms, balling into tight fists as his voice gradually grew ever so slightly shaky. Once Baekhyun's tongue had started rolling, he stopped thinking about the amount of time he had spent talking, he just kept going and Soon-ok could tell that he had never once let all of this off his chest. He had grown up, bearing this heavy story all by himself. She was thankful, but most of all, she felt somehow...Special that he was sharing something so important with her. Despite everything.
"He closed mother's art shop, emptied it of anything that could remotely remind him of her. He did everything he could to get rid of her painful memory, except for wrecking that little building, which per se has always given me the slightest spec of hope. I know that my father has the key to that store, I know that he still has mother's old paintings." Soon-ok could see the cracks in this lonely man's heart, slowly come to the surface, the more he spoke, the more he stared into her orbs, the clearer was the reflection of his broken self. His usually steady voice had started fading weakly, cracking up the slightest.
"He has secretly kept everything that belongs to her, all for himself, leaving me to slowly forget the sound of her voice and the way she looked... I've fought countless times with him and his wife about the store, but he will never hand me the key. He's influenced by her, he now thinks that- ...Wants me to follow in his steps as well." Suddenly, everything made so much sense, the angry phone calls he would hold, that time he had taken her to the ice cream parlor, and the sudden burst of emotion that he had allowed to leak through. Soon-ok, who had until now gathered a bunch of scattered puzzle pieces, was now able to put them together into a bigger picture.
"So I thought, ''If I prove myself and earn enough money to buy it- maybe he will let me have my mother back..." Baekhyun halted, realization widened his lost puppy-like eyes.
"I mean, her art shop." He corrected himself, "But the last time we spoke, I swore to never show my face ever again, and I've only set myself up."
"Baekhyun," Soon-ok called gently, placing a warm palm over his, motioning him to look in her direction. Hesitantly, he did, allowing her to meet his pained gaze.
"It sounds like deep down, you and your father don't really hate each other at all." She whispered, not minding the slightly angry frown that had made its way on his features.
"I think what you two really need is an honest talk." The rival remained silent for a few moments, considering her words. His orbs were shaking in uncertainty while holding her serious yet gentle gaze. He looked extremely hurt by what she had said, but Soon-ok knew it was something he needed to hear. Baekhyun shook his head with a disappointed smile quaking his lips. Gently taking her hand away from his, he placed it back into her laps and Soon-ok felt her heart drop when he faced the other direction just to avoid meeting her eyes.
"Will you do that?" She murmured another attempt, her gaze fell on the way that his fluffy hair fell down his forehead, his tips almost tangled between his long eyelashes, and she had to refuse the urge to caress it away with every nerve in her body.
"I won't." Baekhyun breathed out before even blinking like there was no question to it. Now it became her turn to slowly frown, feeling frustrated over his stubbornness. She had always thought that he would know better, but as soon as she thought that, she bit her lip. If there was something she knew, it was that in front of our own problems, we become unwise, prideful, and blind.
"You're such a coward, Baekhyun." Soon-ok bluntly said, getting an immediate reaction from the male. He looked nothing less than offended when he snapped his wide gaze to hers again, setting a foot on his defensive mark.
"What the?" He gasped with disbelief, completely taken aback. He had taken the bait, so Soon-ok continued.
"You said it yourself." She extended her hand towards him, "You really want to re-open your mother's store. But it doesn't really look like it to me."
"The fuck, Soon-ok?! Am I a joke to you?" Baekhyun sputtered, while fire erupted in his chest, his orbs searched for an explanation in hers.
"Baekhyun can't you see? This is it, this is your occasion to get your mother's safe place back! Your mother's art shop...By calling your father and having an honest conversation with him. Be a son, and give him a chance to be a father. You both need it."
His lips pressed into a thin line, his resolve crumbling piece by piece. Perhaps, Soon-ok was right; his chance had always been there but his view had been ever so clouded by anger and pride. Maybe, he and his father weren't so different after all.
Baekhyun sighed a loud breath from his chest, leaning his elbows upon his knees and hiding his face in his hands.
The next thing he knew was that the phone was ringing against his ear, the distinct rings were almost being drowned away from the noise of his palpitating heart echoing in his head. And just when he was about to get lost in thought, the line picked up.
After a long moment of uncertain silence, the sound of his father's voice resounded.
"Son?" For a short moment, the anxiousness clawing at his chest washed away, because his father's voice had sounded so calm, and almost a little warm as well, he dared to say. Baekhyun found himself gulping down the remaining moisture in his mouth, deciding to release his dry lips from the grip of his teeth. His mind was blank, his heart picked up its rate nervously when he realized that he had no idea what he wanted to say at all. Part of him wanted to blame Soon-ok for making him do something so rushed, but on the other hand, if he wouldn't have done it now, he might never have.
The man had no idea what had gotten into him when he finally spluttered the first thing he could think of, eventually redding on the cheeks.
"Dad, do you miss mom?" This time he had dropped the formalities he used to create distance between them completely. No more father, just dad. Just family.
It was almost as if he could hear his father's breath hitch inside of his throat at the unexpected question.
"I miss her all the time." The old man rasped, his voice was shrouded in an ancient sadness that Baekhyun recognized all too well. The father had given his son a pair of words that had sent his heart rushing to his mouth, making him fear he would have vomited it out. "M- me too," Baekhyun breathed out a little eagerly, leaving the man on the other line struck with a sudden sense of guilt and warmness mixing all together in his chest.
"But dad," Baekhyun started soon again, the more he spoke, the more his emotions started flowing through his voice, like ocean waves in a storm. "If that's the case, then why did you close mom's shop- why won't you hand it over to me? Is it so wrong that I want to keep her memory alive? Why do you want to forget her so bad?" Questions he had always kept within himself for years tumbled finally out of his lips and his father could only idly stand by and listen to the pent-up loneliness and frustration he had put his son through.
"I... am sorry, son." The dejected voice of the man put Baekhyun's lips to rest, "I took down the art shop, and everything that belonged to Sohee so that you could move on in life. I didn't want you to live with that sadness, with the poverty and feeling of uncertainty." Baekhyun's slightly agape mouth slowly fell close again as he leaned once again back onto the couch's backrest. He had barely noticed how his hand had flown up. the thumb resting between his lips as he listened with his teeth gnawing at his nail.
"But I've been wrong, and I've wronged you, Son." He admitted, Baekhyun felt his whole body shaking, so filled to the brim with emotion that he had no idea what to do with himself. "In the end, it was me who couldn't move on, and instead, I latched onto money and anger. The anger I felt for not being able to do anything but watch while my wife withered away. but instead, I hurt you."
"And I'm sorry for that. I-" He apologized once again, leaving his son completely awestruck, unable to believe his ears. "I hope you can forgive me." After hearing those words, even if it hurt his pride to admit it, Baekhyun knew that he had already forgiven him.
"Dad," Baekhyun then called out softly, a newfound warmth swimming in his timbre. "I already moved on, and I would have moved on a lot easier if I could have had her with me. But that's not how things went, and I've come to accept that today." Neither Soon-ok nor Baekhyun could truly put their finger on it, but as long as that call was going on, the three of them could already feel how breathing suddenly was easier. As if there had been something pushing them down. but they hadn't realized it until now.
"But moving on for me, does not mean that I should leave her behind, do you get me? I don't want to forget her. if she can't live with me, at least I want her to live in my art. I want to create a new happy place for her, in the same place where you two built mine. Will you let me do that, father?" Silence followed his plea, only the heavy breathing of his father resounded in his ear until he realized what was actually going on.
"Dad?" He faltered, and his heart leaped when what he heard next was his father's voice suppressed underneath a sorrowful sob; "Please," He pleaded brokenly, making Baekhyun himself grow a ruthless lump in his throat as tears gathered in his eyes.
"Please do so, bring Sohee back."
After an eventful half-hour, Baekhyun was finally detaching the device from his ear, dropping his hand onto his lap like it weighed a ton. His gaze was spaced out in the most incredulous of ways like he couldn't tell whether what had just happened was realiy or a crazy dream. Looking at Soon-ok, though, had pulled him right back from his trance. His eyes were wide and his red cheeks had several streaks that tears had left behind. Hence, the woman could still spot the glossiness resting over his brown oceans like a veil. She spread her lips into a soft smile, this time giving in to the urge to reach and put her skin against his. As her palm collided with his warmed cheek, he didn't waste a second leaning into her touch, lips itching to kiss her hand. His eyes had fluttered close as he enjoyed the subtle closeness.
He wished he would never stop feeling her gentle fingertips dance like feathers along his skin.
"When you open that shop," Soon-ok murmured and leaned closer, causing the male to slowly open his eyes, only to be slightly taken aback by her closeness.
"Can I be your first employee, then?" Her words hung in the air, but not in a negative way, it was more that they were floating like petals in the wind. Baekhyun felt like he had just grown a second heart in his chest when he let Soon-ok's words sink in. His heart felt so filled like there couldn't be anything else he wanted more, and it almost hurt. Wonder shone in Baekhyun's orbs, the mixture of pure happiness and the leftover tears made them glisten like stars in a clear summer's sky. A soft laugh escaped his lips, and as if he was brought back to the moment he had found himself in front of her door, he felt that same magnetic pull towards her that he could not control.
He wasn't thinking, he couldn't even sort out a single thought when suddenly his hands had reached out to cup her cheeks, making her own that had been on his, drop back into her laps. All the woman was able to express was a surprised gasp. But she was not about to stop him, from doing whatever he was about to do.
The overwhelming happiness lay unveiled on his soft features for her to see, no mask, no nothing to hide the fact that her words had sent him flying to the moon. The sensation of his eyelashes tickling her cheeks as he leaned in had flowers blooming in her belly, almost making her giggle. His scent, his warmth, his rhythmic breath, was everywhere, clouding her senses, like always. Soon-ok came to think of how many times they had been in this situation. Especially because the male had suddenly halted in his actions, eyelids still hanging droopily over his eyes, but a tad bit more woke as realization hit him. Teeth drilled into his lip as he averted his gaze on hers. Deep inside, she was praying for him not to change his mind.
"Can I kiss you?" Baekhyun had whispered, almost a little shyly, his lips brushing against hers in the process. His actions had Soon-ok curling her fingers into tight fists as her face warmed up, if he wasn't going to make the first move; she would. There was only so little she could take before she also would crumble underneath the pressure of her longing heartbeat. At first, she couldn't understand why he was asking for permission when her lips had fallen apart with anticipation, right in front of his, which should have been a clue in itself... But remembering the way things had once ended, she could sense that he didn't want to do anything that could upset her. And that solely made the urge to shorten that painful distance grow even stronger
"I'm sorry that the last time I kiss- the last time I kissed you, it wasn't okay- I mean. The way I did it. Because-" He sighed, "You said not to ever do it again, and I'm sorry I was about to again-"
"Baekhyun." Soon-ok hushed him before he could become a further mess. "It's okay," she assured softly, sneaking her arms around his shoulders, prompting him to relax his stiffened body. "Please, kiss me now and stop talking," She all but ordered him, and the look on his face resembled the one of a puppy when he nodded without further question, his fluffy bangs bouncing adorably. Before she knew it, Baekhyun had, as she had desired, closed the distance without any further words. The last thing she had seen before her sleepy eyes had dropped close had been his heavy-lidded ones gazing at her lips as he had dropped his head to her level. With a low hum, he connected their mouths, molding them perfectly as he nibbled sweetly on her lips. Shivers traveled down her body when his slender hands strayed away from her face, as if a life of their own, they explored her body like a canvas. Until his palms fell into the curves of her waist, and he wasted no time in drawing her closer to himself, pressing their chests together. Soon-ok found herself fisting his shirt in her hands because their hearts beating against each other was an exhilarating sensation, a delight so strong she feared she'd fall apart. She was so weak, it had been her to make him kiss her, and yet he was the one with the upper hand, turning her into nothing less than a puddle when he sighed pleasantly into her slightly parted lips.
It was as if he had been starving for all of these months, because when Soon-ok was leaning away for a breather, Baekhyun had been quick to hinder her from doing so, threading his fingers in her hair and gently stopping her head from moving away.
"More," He had murmured desperately before crashing his lips on hers all over again, brushing his careful tongue over the surface of her cushions before gently sucking on her lips like they were his source of life.
Their lips parted, and Baekhyun joined their foreheads together as they heaved their chests, heavy breaths mingling together in front of their swollen lips. His eyes were closed, eyelashes tickling each other's cheekbones like the flutter of a small butterfly playfully sitting on your shoulder. Despite being out of breath, despite feeling his lips bruised, that urging feeling to be as close to her as possible just wouldn't leave him. He tilted his head and murmured;
"More, please,"
***
Even from the distance, Baekhyun could hear the joyful cheers of the children playing in the gentle heat of the spring sun, soothed by the soft breeze dancing between the green leaves. The image of Sohee's laughing smile and cute little dimples on her cheeks was an instant serotonin boost to him. In his chest grew an excitement so warm, one that matched beautiful weather that could alone put you in a good mood.
Just in a few steps, he had reached the kindergarten where the little girl would spend most of her days. It had been a few weeks since the last time he had gone to pick her up, so he was excited, to say the least. Baekhyun was going to surprise her, which he knew would earn him a heart-fluttering reaction. Before he met Soon-ok, he had never given kids much of a thought, he had never really understood why some people fussed over cute children. But after seeing Sohee grow for the past three years, he could say that he most definitely wouldn't trade the chance to have a kid get so excited over to see him for anything in the world. The amount of special it made him feel was unmeasurable. He didn't really know how to put it into words, but somehow, whenever a child liked him, it felt like a big deal.
Baekhyun had barely stepped onto the playground when he heard a loud, high-pitched gasp behind him, followed by an excited squeal he had longed to hear for a while now. Laughter bubbled in his throat, and his lips curled into a smile automatically as he met her gaze.
"UNCLE BAEKHYUN!" Sohee screeched at the top of her lungs as she sprinted towards him, catching the teacher accompanying her off guard. The man kneeled down, not minding the mud dirtying his clothes. Despite Sohee being so small, dear god, she was stronger than she seemed. He knew that if he wouldn't catch her in his chest, she would've sent him stumbling down to the ground.
Soon-ok's daughter came crashing into his chest, making him hiss out playfully, although a part of it had been genuine. "Who are you calling uncle, huh!?" Baekhyun playfully told her off as he lifted her up and put her on his hip, giving her a raised eyebrow.
"But you are uncle!" She stated confidently, "So old," Sohee giggled, clearly loving the fact that she had someone to tease like that.
"Tsk!" He ruffled her hair, making her squeal out loud once again, "Old my foot!" He purposedly exaggerated his facial expressions so that he could look very offended by what she had said, to which he knew he succeeded when she burst into hysteric laughter. Without further ado, he took her school bag which the young kindergarten teacher had been holding out to them. "Thank you," he had smiled with a little nod of his head before heading away.
"Do you know what I did with Sehun Oppa the other day?" Sohee, excitedly grasped the hem of his collar, shaking it slightly to gain his attention although she already had all of it. Baekhyun gasped dramatically and stopped in his tracks, giving Sohee a hurtful look. The child looked slightly confused by his actions.
"You-" He breathed out, "You call him oppa but I am an uncle to you? Yah, Park Sohee!" The flushed apples of her cheeks reached her crescent eyes as she burst into giggles. It took all of him to keep the disbelief on his face because all he wanted to do was to let the tickling sensation in his chest take over so that he could burst into laughter.
"I can't believe you talk about other men when I am with you," Baekhyun added with a pout, causing the little girl in his arms to whine apologetically.
"Okay! okay!" She hurried, and planted her small hands on his cheeks, not realizing how strong her hold was when she squeezed his cheeks to the point of his lips jutting out. "I'm sorry Baekhyunie. But can I tell you what I and Sehunie did?" Baekhyun gave her a few slow blinks before mumbling a barely articulated fine, prompting the energetic Sohee to lean away and leave his cheeks throbbing for a few moments.
"So!" She exhaled excitedly, starting her endless story about a movie night she and Sehun had when Soon-ok had been out one evening. Baekhyun was mostly serenely quiet, listening to her light voice speak faster with every second as she neared the best part of her story, eventually jutting in small responses and reactions that would encourage her to go on. His legs walked at a slow pace so that both he and the child in his arms could enjoy the soothing warmth seeping through their clothes when walking in the sun.
This.
What he had done to be blessed with the way his life was right now, he had no clue, but one thing he was sure about was that he was going to treasure it with all his might. Because this was only the beginning.
His life was indeed, only beginning now, and no matter how content he was at the moment, he knew that it was like a newly blossomed, extremely frail flower that he had to protect even from just the wind, with the palms of his hands.
He and Sohee hung out in different places as he had promised her that the next time he would pick her up he would have treated her to ice cream. Time just passed them by, like there was never enough of it. For when he finally parked his car, the sunset was draping itself all over the city, painting the houses with warm streaks of yellow and orange. After unbuckling himself he went ahead to help Sohee in the backseat who was kicking her legs eagerly, she couldn't contain her excitement every time they came there, and he loved to see it. This time he couldn't help the stifled chuckle that left his lips as he gave Sohee's cheek a slight pinch. "Easy there, tiger," he murmured fondly, to which she only flashed a bright smile with her sparkling eyes almost disappearing behind her glossy cheeks before she jumped out of the car.
"Mommy!" She exclaimed before she had even entered the glassdoor, leaving Baekhyun to hurriedly follow after her, "Wait for me!" He had begged but to no avail.
Outside the small house-like building could be heard a soft hum of music that no matter how many times he experienced it, it would never fail to caress his heart like a soft feather meanwhile bringing him back to colorful memories of his younger self.
The bell rang cheerfully as he and Sohee entered the art shop, and the view that welcomed was one that he had seen a very long time ago. One tied to a memory who would have usually brought him both warmth and pain. But now it was different, somehow, magical. His breath hitched ever so shortly, his heartbeat resounded in his ears.
There was Soon-ok, standing in front of a canvas, her paint stained hands halted in their tracks when her daughter's voice reached her ears. Her white dress flowed with her movements as she put the palette down to greet them. It had also been stained by paint, but somehow it didn't look unpleasant, it reminded him of the flowers inprinted in his mother's favorite dress. The smiles on Soon-ok's and Sohee's faces were beautiful on their own, but underneath the golden glow of the sunset, Baekhyun felt like he was watching the most beautiful photo he owned come to life.
Just like in those times, when his father and mother would paint on the same space and share colors with each other, he would sit back and watch mesmerised.
But Baekhyun did not know when the roles had reversed. Suddenly it was him and Soon-ok blending their colors together, and Sohee would excitedly swing her feet back and forth while cooling with an ice cream, as she watch a beautiful painting slolwy fill the canvas.
He couldn't explain it, but as his heart swelled with emotions so strong, he realized that the memory he had for so long kept dear, was one he could finally let go of. For now it had become his turn.
Because it was him building that exact same memory now, with the people he loved, in the the same art shop that his mother had brought to life, that could finally live on.
He had caught it.
It felt like he had finally caught the paper that he had grabbed as a kid, written his heart's deepest wishes on, after his mother's death. The paper that was so insignificant until he had poured himself into it under the weak desk light with the short remainings of his overused pencil. The paper that didn't contain solely words, but also the droplets of his tears.
The paper that he had folded into a plane and sent out of his window one lonely summer night.
Yes,
there was no doubt, that he had caught it, and that his wishes had been fulfilled.
Did you know? Shooting stars aren't the only way.
Write your dreams on a paper and fold it into a plane, don't be afraid.
Send it to flow in the wind,
send it to your future self and it'll reach you when you get there.
Don't be afraid to ask for what your heart desires. Don't be afraid to dream, even if you think it sounds silly. Dream away.
The end.
