Chapter 3
*First person pov*
"Hey, get up May! Hey!" I said, nudging my roommate's arm. May was sleeping in, and I need to wake her up. I want to get to know her! "Ugh... what do you want Mit.... Go back to sleep..." May groans, turning on her side. I frowned and walked over to the closed blinds. I yank them open, and May screeches. "Rise and shine, sleepy head! A new day, a second chance at life!" I said cheerfully, and May ducks under the covers. "Man, what are you doing!?" May yelled, trying to stay under the covers to get away from the horrendous sun. I pulled the sheets off May, and she screams. "Get up! Let's go explore the city!" I yelled, grabbing her arms, pulling her up. "Nooooooo..... I don't want to get up...." May whined, and I still pulled her out of bed. "Get changed! I want to go into the city!" I said, spinning around with her. "Okay okay.... I'm up..." May said, rubbing her eyes sleepily as she waddled over to her wardrobe. I went over to my suitcase, and pulled out my outfit that's simple, a gray Mickey Mouse T-Shirt and black yoga pants. I take off my PJs and put on the outfit, and looked over to May to see if she was ready. May had a yellow Chinese dress on, so she's ready. "Let's go!" I said as I headed for the door, but she caught my shoulder.
"You're going out there looking like THAT?" May said, gesturing to my outfit. "Um... Yeah?" I said, and she shook her head. "Hun, you need to brush your hair... and you're just going to leave without brushing your teeth or washing your face? You need to clean up before you go." May said, leading me over my bed and set me down. "Just sit there, and I'll do your hair." May said, then getting a brush off her desk. May got on top of the bed behind me, and starts brushing my hair. "Your hair is so pretty, Mit. You should take care of it." May said, and I stuck out my tongue with a blush on my face. "Back in the dojo, they put it in our heads not to stress over the little details about appearance. Sure, I still do it, but I forget to brush my hair sometimes..." I said, and May just looked like she witnessed the most horrible thing in the world. "Girl, you need to get rid of that habit, you're in DWMA! Not your dojo! Plus, how're you going to impress the boys!" May said, tugging on my hair a little to get rid of the knots in my hair. I mumble a little 'ow' then swung my legs. "Well.... I'm not concerned about those stuff yet.... As much as I don't want to get involved with boys, I have to.... I am the heiress to the whole family... Since it's traditional..." I said, and I stop swinging my legs.
May stops brushing my hair for a second then continues. "I know how you feel... I come from a traditional Chinese family.... I am the eldest child of two, I have a little sister, and usually they would make more babies until it's a boy.... but because of the population problem and the 'Two Child per household' crap.... I have to become heiress. That's why I wear Chinese dresses..." May said, and then she shivered. "I don't know why, but I keep remembering how my parents would threaten me if I don't wear the Chinese dresses, because I didn't like them when I was a kid..." May said, and I turned my head a little to glance at her through the corner of my eye. "What was the threat?" I asked May. "My grandmother, is a victim of the foot-binding... It was practiced in China, it's where they take the feet of small girls... Break the foot and twist them, it's hard to explain.... It was to make a girl look more attractive with smaller feet, but I don't think so.... Here, my grandmother wouldn't show me her feet because it was ugly and she is embarrassed about it, but I have an X-Ray of her feet on my phone..." May said, then setting the brush to the side as she pulled out her phone. "Here it is, Mit." May said, handing me her phone. I took a look at it then winced.
(Notice how the toes curve inwards to the sole... yeah, I just made the photo a whole lot worse XD)
"Then did THIS to little girls? Who would find this attractive!? That is NOT normal, May!" I said, then handing May back her phone. "Yeah, my parents would threaten me to do this to me. This was outlawed in 1912, and I knew that they wouldn't do this to me, but still, it scared the hell out of me." May said, putting her phone back her pocket then went back to brushing my hair. "I'm done brushing your hair." May said, then I stood up. I don't what method she did to make my hair look that way, but I like it. And all she did was BRUSH it. "Wow, thanks May!" I said, and May looked away with slight blush on her face. "No need..." May said, then in a blink of a eye she finished doing her hair. I pouted, and she looked at me. "What?" May said, and I looked away. "I wanted to do your hair..." I said, and May rolled her eyes. "Well, if you want more time to shop, I had to do it myself. We wasted enough time talking while I was brushing your hair. Now, let's go brush our teeth and wash our faces." May said, and I nodded. I grabbed my tooth brush and tooth paste out of my suitcase and hopped off the bed. I headed into the bathroom with May close behind. I held up my tooth brush, and put tooth paste on my brush.
I started brushing my teeth, feeling the sensation of mint dancing on my tongue and the bristles of the brush scrape against my gums. After 2 minutes of brushing, I turn on the faucet washing my brush then set it aside. I cupped my hand under the water, watching it fill up in my hand. I brought it to my face and sucked the water out of my hand into my mouth. I swished the water around my mouth in every nook and cranny in my mouth, washing the foam out of my mouth. I threw my head backwards and gurgled, then spat it out. "That's disgusting and immature." May comments, a mouthful of toothpaste in her mouth. I grinned and went to take a second rinse, without the gurgle this time. I washed my face, and I was all set. "You done yet, May?" I asked May. She was was washing her face. "No, just let me dry my face... can you pass me my towel Mit?" May asked, and I passed her the pink towel that was hanging up. "Thanks." May said as she dried her face. When I washed my face, I just wiped my face with my arm... like I do everyday. TOWELS ARE FOR THE WEAK!!! "I'm all done... let's go, Mit." May said, as she hung up her towel on the rack. I grabbed my key and put it in my pocket as well as my wallet, grinning. "Let's go!" I said, grabbing May's hand and dragging her out the door.
