I hear laughter. The air is cold, but not in a pleasant way. It hurts, slicing me like a knife.

"Hello child," a voice greets from an inky blackness that surrounds me, "you have been chosen child. You will be given a power in three days child."

"What?" I ask.

"Three days child," the voice, raspy, but wise, repeats, "three days, and you shall see. There are many like you child. Many blessed. Chosen to ave others child."

"Save?" I inquire.

"Three days. You have those in your life you care about child. For the next three days, you will live your life. You will try to help as they hide their pain, but in three days, you will be gifted. I have a question for you child."

"What is it?"

"Those with this gift... often fall themselves. This gift... you will be able to save the ones you love, but many with this gift end up broken. I want you, for the next three days, to think about them. Tomorrow, we shall discuss more on this offer, but, would you sacrifice your happiness for those you love? For those you care about? That you may know their pain child? That you will chance the curses that come with this gift child?"

"I... let's just talk tomorrow, but, what are you?"

"I go by many names child. Fate. Destiny. God. I reside in the place that awaits beyond death child. The better of the two. Not unlike many religions, there is a Heaven and Hell. Where you end up... oh the plans I've made for you child. Such fun. Such fun it is if you accept my gift."

"Are you the Devil?"

"No child. I assure you I am benevolent in a nature, but your story is one I find... amusing. One... I didn't really plan out. I let it flow. Your town is broken child. With my gift you can fix it. Until next time child, awaken. Maybe I'll give you a taste of my gift, for fun."

I open my eyes. What was that dream? Such an odd dream. Talking to... God? In a cold dark place? Surely just a dream. Besides, I have to get ready for school. Cause if I get one bad grade...

I get out of bed and start getting ready...
