Jungkook was soaking wet as he came up to the cafe door. The door was locked but he was thankful for the little awning above him which was blocking the rain.
He didn't have to knock on the door because he saw through the glass— the cat hybrid he'd had an interview with was rushing over to unlock it and let him in.
"Thank you," he said once he was inside.
But the man looked at him from head to toe, gawking. "Do you not have an umbrella?"
Jungkook frowned to himself. He couldn't afford an umbrella— or he didn't want to waste what little money he had on something he'd hardly ever use. So the answer was clear.
"I'm sorry. I don't."
The man, Yoongi, tsked at him. "It's a good thing I'm small like you, then. Come on. I have extra work clothes. We'll get you through some of the basics once you're changed."
Gladly, Jungkook ended up taking Yoongi's dry clothes and changing in the bathroom, soon exiting as he wrapped the black apron he was given around his waist.
He was tying the knot just above his bunny tail as he walked towards the cafe counter, but he halted as he glanced up. He did a double take, lips parting into a gasp as he saw a familiar set of wolf ears.
"Jungkook-ssi," Yoongi called out.
As he did, the wolf's lowered head shot up as well, eyes widening as they met Jungkook's. "Jungkook...ssi..?"
"Yes," Yoongi confirmed. He gestured to the bunny who was still standing in pure shock. "You'll be training him today."
What?
"Come on, Jungkook." Yoongi waved his hand, calling him behind the counter. "This is Seokjin. He'll show you how we run things."
Seokjin? Kim Seokjin?
Jungkook felt like crying. His ears were laid drooped against his head, almost like he really was about to start pouring tears. This must be a nightmare, right? This can't be real.
"H-He works here?" he asked.
Yoongi nodded. "Of course he does. And you will too." He picked up his phone and walked around the counter, patting Jungkook on the back as he went for the door. "I have a meeting. You two will be fine, right?"
The new secondary feeling in Jungkook's chest screamed this can't be happening. Seokjin was thinking the exact thing as him.
Why? How?
Why did Jungkook get caught in some shit like this? He didn't deserve it.
But before he knew it, Yoongi was leaving the cafe, locking it from outside. Jungkook wanted to scream and cry as he was left.
"Are you just gonna stand there?"
It was the first thing Kim Seokjin had ever said to him.
Jungkook wanted to slap him. He wanted to slap that arrogant look off his face and zip the dumb wolf's mouth shut. Wolves deserve nothing and neither does this guy.
But getting money is so hard for Jungkook and this job had such good pay. The cafe wasn't too far away from his apartment and he had experience in working at places like this. It was too perfect.
So, Jungkook pulled his sleeve over his soulmate's name and ignored the fact that he was wearing a matching work uniform with this guy as he slowly stepped towards the counter.
He's not your soulmate. Just some guy.
He simply stood behind the counter as far away as possible, avoiding looking at the wolf at all.
But the closer Seokjin got, the more Jungkook's heart started feeling light and the name on his wrist tingled. It was so annoying that he felt that way.
"Every morning, you start by turning on the machines."
Jungkook was no fool. He didn't need this guy to tell him anything, but he listened. He listened for the sake of wanting to make money and be a good employee.
He slowly trailed behind the guy a few times until he was finally done showing Jungkook everything.
"We open in twenty minutes," the wolf informed him. "Just go sit down or something. I'm gonna make myself a coffee."
Jungkook didn't care what he did.
But he did care about the final lingering look that the wolf gave him. Stern, a bit empty, and cold as he looked down at the bunny.
Neither of them mentioned the fact that their names are on each other's wrists. Jungkook had a feeling they never would.
So, he ignored the near-glare and walked towards the barstool on the other side of the counter.
Jungkook would ignore this guy for forever. He'd already promised himself to never think about the name on his wrist again and he'd keep it that way.
