24 - warn

I'm an idiot, Yuuji thought.
He sat on the couch, hunched over and deep in thought.
"Is something wrong Yuuji?" Megumi asked, concerned for him.
Yuuji stayed silent for a moment before realizing that Megumi had said something to him.
"Oh, nothing!" He brushed it off. "I, uh, heard a seminar in the park and the guy was saying some strange stuff." He told Megumi. "It doesn't sound legit at all though."
"Hmm, who was it?" Megumi asked curiously.
"Oh well, I don't know if you've heard of him. His name is Mariko Fuse and he sounds like some giant fake." Yuuji laughed fakely, still trying to play it off.
"Mariko Fuse? You mean the prediction guy? I don't know if it's fake then, that guy is known for being spot on with his predictions. There's a reason why that guy is as famous and respected in psychic circles as he is. Even my dad follows him. If he said a prediction then it mind end up coming true." Megumi informed him.
Yuuji's eyes widened. Then does that mean...?
Megumi placed a glass of water on the table for Yuuji. "Well whatever happened, don't stress about it. Here, have some water. I'm going to the toilet." He left the room.
Yuuji just sat there thinking. He tried picking up the glass of water to drink, but it accidentally fell out of his hand, leaving the floor and table wet.
So it'll come true? Yuuji thought. No way. That's so stupid. It doesn't mean anything. He kept reassuring himself. It doesn't mean anything. It won't come true. Nothing he said is real.
But he couldn't help but think about his words. Megumi's fate will end in a tragedy worse than death.
Yuuji shook his head. No. He thought. It's not true, it's not true! No matter what I want to be with Megumi. I want us to be together! It won't come true, he tried convincing himself.
But the thoughts kept plaguing Yuuji's mind.

At school, Yuuji tried playing it off. He tried to interact with Megumi normally and act like everything was okay, but there was an air of awkwardness whenever he would speak to him.
"Are you sure you're okay?" Megumi asked again. "If there's something wrong you should tell me."
"It's all good, I promise!" He assured. "I'm going to my locker to get something before class starts. I'll see you in class."
"You don't want me to come with you-" Megumi started. But Yuuji had already dashed away.
On the way to his locker, he bumbed into Yuuta, who was carrying a few textbooks.
"Oh sorry!" Yuuji said. He crouched down to pick up the fallen textbooks.
But Yuuta refused him. "It's fine, I've got this. I don't need your help."
Yuuta picked up his textbook as Yuuji stood up only watching him. It was silent for a moment.
And then Yuuta blurted out. "I hope you can make Megumi happy."
"What?" Yuuji asked, unsure of what Yuuta said.
Yuuta repeated himself. "I said I hope you can make Megumi happy."
He stood up, staring at Yuuji eye-to-eye. "I realized that by pursuing Megumi I just made him sad, so I stopped. I value Megumi's happiness most of all. So I won't be selfish anymore. I just hope that being with you makes him happy."
Yuuta started to walk away. But then he turned around and gave one last comment.
"But if you can't make him happy, then I'll do it instead." He warned Yuuji. Then he walked away to his next class.
Leaving Yuuji standing there in the hall, all self-esteem drained from his body.
