"I'm home!" Toji announced. He was carrying a bag filled with items and then he placed it on the ground beside him.
"Hey dad," Tsumiki got out of the kitchen and went to the front door to gree him. "How was shopping?" She asked.
"Uneventful," he replied. "Oh, but I've got some good news!"
He took out a piece of paper from his jean pocket. It was a lottery ticket.
"I won!" He exclaimed. "Tell Megumi to come down here so I can show him," he bragged.
"Again?" She asked. "How much did you get this time?"
" ¥ 200,000,000 (approx. 1.8 million USD)," he responded. "Too bad it wasn't first prize."
Toji walked over to the couch, sat on it, and put his rested his feet on the table. "Well whatever, this work for the next month." He grabbed the remote and turned on the television.
Tsumiki went upstairs. When she returned, Megumi came downstairs as well.
"Hey Megumi!" Toji greeted. "I won the lottery!" He held up the lottery ticket so Megumi could see.
"Again?" Megumi asked, even though he wasn't surprised at all. "Good for you," Megumi told him.
"Good for us," Toji corrected. "Who do you think's paying the bills around here? You should be grateful," he said. "It wasn't first prize though, which fucking sucks. I really wanted that ¥ 1B (approx. 900M USD)."
Megumi just rolled his eyes. His dad won the lottery all the time, this was nothing new. His dad has extraordinary luck; he just cashed in lottery tickets and online contests every other week and won a shit ton of money. It's why he never has to work and can just spend it all on useless shit or gambling, which he also won.
Toji had always been lucky all his life, but that luck especially doubled after Tsumiki was born, who had a soul mark, and then it tripled after Megumi, who also had a soul mark.
After that he didn't need his wife anymore, who had previously provided him with money, because he could just get money through the lottery. So he left her, came up with some weird defense in court so he could win custody, and he kept Megumi and Tsumiki.
Tsumiki and Megumi were basically his cash cows.
"Well, good for us then," Megumi corrected himself. He was about to go back upstairs because he didn't feel like hearing his dad brag about his riches.
But then he realized. Dad's in a good mood. Maybe, if I tell him about Yuuji now, he won't get as mad.
"Dad," Megumi began. "I have something to tell you-"
"Oh yeah, did you end up apologizing to Yuuta and his parents?" Toji reminded him. "If you haven't, then go do it now."
He commanded Megumi. "Get your ass over to their house, knock on their door, and tell Yuuta that you're going to stay with him until they day you both die."
Megumi just stood there, debating on how he should answer.
Toji just sneered. "Why is it only you that's causing problems? Tsumiki doesn't have any issues with her soulmate. You really love being a whiny little bitch, eh Megumi?"
Megumi gulped. Maybe I shouldn't tell him, he second guessed himself. But if I don't tell him now, it might get worse if I prolonged it. Oh fuck it I'll just do it, no matter what happens, he resolved.
"I cleared things up with Yuuta. We're cool now." Megumi started off.
"Okay good." Toji said. "....And his family? Did you apologize to them?" He asked.
Megumi hesitated. But then he blurted out, "I'm dating someone else. I'm dating someone else, that's not Yuuta. So I'm not going to apologize to them for forcing me to get with Yuuta."
It was silent. Toji had no reaction at first.
But then Toji laughed. "Hahaha, Megumi, you shouldn't joke like that! You know you aren't funny right?" He said.
And then he looked Megumi in the eye and glared at him. "Now get your ass over to their house and apologize before I make you do it." He demanded.
Megumi flinched.
But he stood his ground.
"I'm not kidding," Megumi shook his head. "I'm dating someone else. I don't want to have to date Yuuta just because he's my soulmate. I have someone that I'm in love with. And I want to be with him." Megumi told his dad, awaiting his reaction.
Just then, Yuuji walked down the stairs.
"Megumi I really need to go pee, where's your toilet-" And then Yuuji stopped himself mid-sentence, noticing the tension in the air.
Toji looked over at Yuuji. "So this is him? This is the guy you're ditching Yuuta for? You're leaving Okkotsu Yuuta, your soulmate, for that? That ugly-ass thing?" Toji asked, disbelieving.
Megumi defended Yuuji. "That's so fucking rude. Yuuji is most handsome person I've ever seen. And I'm going to date him because I'm in love with him, and not Yuuta. I don't care about soulmates or whatever."
It was silent once again.
And then Toji broke the silence through his laughter. "HAHAHA" he bellowed out. He continued laughing his big, almost psychotic laugh for almost a whole minute.
But then his voice turned as cold as ice.
"Get out of my house." He said, monotone and sternly.
"What?" Megumi asked.
Toji got up and slammed the door wide open. It hit the edge of the door frame with such force that a crack appeared in it.
"I said get out of my fucking house!" He yelled. "If you're going to have a relationship like that, I want you out! I don't want anything to do with you!"
Megumi put his hands up in surrender and took a few steps back. "Dad, let's not go too far," he said nervously, "please I-"
But then Toji walked over to him, grabbed him by the collar of his shirt, and dragged him all the way to the front door. Megumi was terrified. Tsumiki and Yuuji only stood there in shock.
"It's your fault isn't it? That I didn't win the the first place lottery prize. Because you have a relationship with that thing." He blamed Megumi.
"How does that even correlate-"
Toji interrupted him. "Because you went against the goddess, you went against your blessing, your starting to get cursed. In fact you're already cursed. And at this rate, you'll get me and Tsumiki cursed! I don't even want to touch you!"
He let go of Megumi's shirt and kicked him in the stomach, sending him flying back. Megumi coughed out and landed on his back.
"D-dad.." Megumi coughed out weakly.
"Get lost you little piece of shit. If you want to live the rest of your life cursed then I don't give a fuck. But just don't bring me into it!"
Then he turned behind him to look at Yuuji. "What the fuck are you still doing here? Get out of the house!" He shouted. Yuuji walked out as fast as he could.
And once they were both outside, Toji slammed the door shut, locking them out.
