~ chapter twelve ~
*GRANT'S POV*
I don't know what to do.
The one person I actually thought was my soulmate ended up to have a similar tattoo, in no way connected to me. Instead, my best friend, who is actually my soulmate, is now in deep danger.
If I don't help her, she might not be my soulmate anymore. And Haylee's tattoo might bond with me. Which is a big problem.
Candice had given me a pep talk which lasted 5 minutes after she left Carlos and Danielle looking over a unconscious Ambahr.
"You have to pick Ambahr! If you don't, she could die of heartbreak."
"I know. But I'm already dating Haylee and I can't just break up with her."
"If you don't break up with her, I will."
"You can't do that!"
"Watch me, lover boy."
"Even if I wanted to, how can I do it?"
"Well, I know deep inside, you actually like Ambahr. She's everything you could want. Even if that sounds cliche."
"I know. But Haylee is beautiful and funny."
"And Ambahr is funny, kind, beautiful, smart, and not only does she love dogs, but she plays a badass character on The Flash too."
"This is making my head hurt."
"Not as much as it might hurt Ambahr."
"I honestly didn't want to do this.."
"I know. I would hate to be you in this situation. But ultimately, you have to make a choice."
"What do you think I should do?"
Candice sighed, as I looked at her waiting for an answer. After a while, she answered, and I knew that's what I needed to do.
"Follow your heart."
After our talk, Stephen returned my call and gave me advice on how to deal with this, since he knew someone close to him that had the same situation.
"Grant, you need to wake her up. It's dangerous for her to get pains while she's unconscious. She could die."
"How do I wake her up? Shake her? Salts?"
"You need to kiss her."
"What?!"
"You heard me. It might sound cliche, but remember Amanda? She had the same thing happen to her. She was asleep for so long, and her real soulmate turned up and when he kissed her, she woke up. Her tattoo was back to normal and was gold and red."
"What if it doesn't work?"
"Then you're too late."
"Thanks. I'll call you later."
"Anytime."
Returning to the cast room, Carlos and Tom were holding down Ambahr as she was shaking uncontrollably and groaning.
"Grant, help! We can't hold her down so long!"
I placed my hands on her shoulders and my elbows on her wrists and held her down, Carlos grabbing one leg and Tom another. This went on for a couple minutes before she slouched back. It seemed like she wasn't breathing as she was completely still.
"Is she alive? Check her pulse!"
Putting two fingers under her chin, I felt for a pulse and felt a small pounding against my fingers. Sighing, I pulled them back and frowned.
"She's alive."
"Grant, did Stephen call back?"
"Yeah."
"What did he say?"
"I.. I need to wake her up."
"How?"
"With a kiss."
"What are you waiting for? Kiss her!"
"I don't know if I can."
"If you don't, she dies."
"There also a chance I'm too late."
"What do you mean?"
"Even if I do kiss her, there could be a change she doesn't wake up."
"Fucking hell."
"Grant, why do you put yourself in these kinds of situations?"
"It wasn't my fault. Don't blame it on me."
The bed shifted as I realized there was another wave of pain headed at Ambahr as I clutched her shoulders, Carlos holding her ankles and Tom her wrists. She shook, pulled and pushed, groaning. A scream escaped her lips as I could feel her body heat going up. Carlos lifted the edge of her shirt as I realized a quarter of her tattoo was already gone. It was fading and her facial expressions showed pain. This went on for longer than last time. Carlos had to call Candice to bring something to cool Ambahr down so her body heat couldn't go higher than dangerous. Placing a damp cloth over her forehead, she almost looked peaceful, as I watched her. She seemed almost normal, except for all the pain that as going through her. My fingertips grazed hers as I felt some string pulling me back. It was pulling me away from her. I didn't know how. I knew Haylee wasn't my soulmate, then how come I was still feeling a string towards her?
Ignoring the pull, I held her hand and sadly smiled. She was in so much pain, and it was my fault. If only I would have approached her at the party. If only I could have gotten to know her better. Maybe things would be different. Maybe she would be okay. Maybe she would be sitting beside me, hugging me, telling me everything was going to be okay. Maybe I would actually be happy.
Without thinking, I closed my eyes and placed my lips on hers.
