~ chapter seventeen ~

*AMBAHR'S POV*

As the limo drove up to the restaurant, we went inside, everyone talking and laughing.

"Reservation?"

"Under the name Valdez, please."

"One moment."

The host started looking through his reservations, smiling once he found ours, and grabbing various menu's.

"Right this way, please."

As we were guided, my phone rang, as I answered it and stopped.

"Mom?"

"Hi, my name is Detective Jones. Is this Ambahr Morales-Cuevas?"

"Yes, who is this?"

"I'm really sorry to inform you that your mother is on her way to the hospital and so is your brother. We are going to Kaiser and we wanted to let you know."

"W-what happened?"

"Your mother was in a car accident."

Hanging up, I turned and ran out the door, seeing our driver still there. It would be faster if I got an Uber so I would leave them the car as I started looking with shaky hands.

A hand was placed on my waist as I turned.

"Babe, what's wrong?"

"M-my mom was in a car accident."

"And your brother?"

I nodded before Grant embraced me, letting out everything I had.

"What's wrong?"

The rest of the cast came out, as the host was standing awkwardly at the door.

"We have to go."

"Why?"

"There was an accident."

It was silent as Carlos went to the host and told him to cancel the reservation. We all piled into the limo and drove towards the hospital, where my family would be waiting for me.

Grant held me in his arms the whole way, as the cast was puzzled and confused. No words were spoken as we made our way, before stopping in front of the double doors.

Everything inside was white. Nothing else could describe the beeping of nearby monitors and hushed voices at our presence. Everyone else waited awkwardly as me and Grant approached the receptionist.

"Hi, how may I help you?"

"Um, i need to know if Ericka Cuevas is here."

"And you are?"

"Her daughter." Grant interjected as she smiled before going back to her computer.

"Yes, she was just admitted 10 minutes ago along with a little boy."

"Can I go see them?"

"I need you to sign this first and then you can."

Signing documents, she let all of us through the doors as I was directed to a room number.

Looking to my right, I noticed my brothers name at the top.

Sighing shakily, I entered my moms room first as I gasped at the sight.

My mother was bruised, everywhere. She had a cast on her left leg and a sling on her right arm. Fast asleep she looked peaceful. Crying I made my way over to her, grabbing her left hand and clutching it in mine. She didn't move. Stayed asleep as I sobbed the whole time.

Grant came over, his arm around my shoulders as he rubbed my arm.

"It's going to be okay."

"How? Grant, my mom and brother are in the hospital. Today was supposed to be a good day. I end up coming here and seeing her close to death. I don't know how you can say I have hope, because it doesn't look like it."

"I promise you, it will get better. Do you want to go and see your brother? The cast is already there."

I nodded, placing a kiss on my moms temple before leaving. My eyes still watery as we both entered the next room, seeing my brother awake and happy.

As soon as his eyes met mine, he smiled harder, opening his arms and saying my name.

"How are you?"

Hugging him, he smiled before shrugging.

"I'm okay. Everything kind of hurts."

"That's okay."

"This is a good surprise! I love it!"

Everyone smiled as Candice ruffled his hair, and grabbed a stuffed animal Carlos had been holding.

"Aww that's adorable!"

"Look! It's got a Flash t-shirt on!"

I smiled, thanking my friends as my little brother smiled up at me.

"Can you tell me a story?"

"What kind?"

"One about your favorite moment while filming."

"Okay."

Grant started telling the story of the first time we met.

"I remmember the first time Ambahr came to set was when she was assigned to work with me. I remember looking at her and thinks she was small and cute. Almost immediately, she became friends with everyone on set. It was fun seeing her bond with everyone and having fun."

"Until the other soulmate came in, right?"

"Yeah. She didn't really come in, she had a mixup with someone else and thought our tattoo would bond. Turns out, my other soulmate would just end up in pain."

"I heard about that! That is scary!"

I chuckled, and smiled.

"I actually passed out various times."

"She did. Until I figured out what I had to do."

"What? Tell me, tell me!"

"Okay. I had to kiss her."

"Ew."

"And she woke up. Her tattoo went back to normal and everything was better. Now, I'm really happy to be here."

"I'm happy you are all here with me!" My brother yawned as I noticed he was getting tired.

"You need to rest, little bro."

"Yeah, you got pretty hurt."

"Nah, I'm okay.."

His voice started lowering as his eyes closed. His breath slowed and soon enough, he was asleep.

"He looks so peaceful."

Smiling, I stroked his forehead, leaving a kiss before nodding.

"He does."

"Should we go back to the hotel? Eat out tomorrow?"

Nodding, I grabbed Grant's hand and walked out of my brothers room, and exited the hospital, a little better but still hurt.

Cameras were thrown in our faces as I covered mine, Grant grabbing my hand and walking forward, his body a shield from the reporters and paparazzi until we got inside the limo.

"Are you going to be okay?"

Carlos looked over at me as I sadly smiled.

"I am. Don't worry."
