Chapter 9: I Make a Mistake
Thalia's POV
The weeks passed quickly after the social. School was easy, life was great. Every afternoon I hung out wit Luke. I arrived at school that morning with Jason behind me. I jogged over to Luke and we kissed. We held hands as we stayed outside that morning, watching the students come in.
Katie, Travis, Connor and Hazel were doing their best to annoy and stay away from each other at the same time.
Percy trudged in alone. I threw a rock at him. It hit him on the shoulder. He glared at me but didn't say anything. He continued to walk in.
Then...Annabeth. I felt Luke tense up as he saw her. He looked at his shoes. Annabeth stared at the two of us. She looked away and continued in.

During class I sat next to Luke. We were barely listening since the class was so boring. I decided to draw on a piece of paper. I didn't know what I was drawing at first but then I saw it was a dagger. Luke glanced at my paper. "Why are you drawing.......... a knife?!" he asked. I covered my paper. "I-I don't know," I whispered, my voice breaking. Luke kissed me on the cheek. He smiled. I smiled too. I kissed him on the cheek and sighed.
At the end of the day I went into my room. Jason comes and joins me but doesn't say anything. I opened my laptop and see my messages from Percy:
What have I done to upset you?
What is up with you and Jason?
What is wrong?
Thalia, tell me what is wrong! Please!
I answered him: You know what you did.
I closed the laptop. "What has Percy done to you?" I asked Jason. To be true, I didn't actually know what he did. I just thought it was bad.
"Okay, well three weeks ago I had heard some things from people that Percy was saying about me. Not nice things, that's for sure. Anyway-"
"Do you actually have proof that Percy said these things about you?" I interrupted.
Jason blinked and put his head in his hands. "Oh no," he said. "Oh my god, I don't have proof. That is so stupid of me!" I looked at him. "Who told you?" I asked him. Jason stared at me, his eyes scared. I started to feel like throwing up. What have we done? "I...can't say." He shook his head and walked out of the room. Who told Jason that? Why did Jason take his word for that? What I did know, was how I have ruined a friendship, just because of a rumour...that probably wasn't even true.
"Oh, my god," I whispered to myself. "I've made a big mistake."
Travis' POV
I lay in my bed, staring at the ceiling. The door opened and I saw it was Connor. "What do you want?" I snapped. "Dude, chill," Connor said. His blue eyes flashed mischievously. "I know you think I like Katie," I said. "I don't, okay?" Connor nodded. He opened his mouth to speak but I cut him off. "I know you like Miranda." Connor's cheeks reddened. He stared at me. "Fine," he admitted. "I may have a tiny crush on Miranda. Please answer honestly - do you like Katie?"
I rolled my eyes. "Fine," I said. "I do have a small crush on Katie."
Connor grinned. "Yes!" I said. "I knew it." I went off my bed and grabbed Connor's shirt. "Just promise me this - don't tell anyone. Okay?" Connor nodded. "As long as you don't tell anyone either!" he said. I smiled. "I won't."
"For some reason that smile makes me regret telling you more," Connor said.
I smirked. Someone knocked on the door and rang the doorbell. "Can you get it?" Connor asked. "Lazy," I remarked. Connor laughed. I walked to the door with Connor trailing behind me. "I wonder who it is," Connor said. "Oh god, you didn't," I said. "You really didn't invite her?" I asked, my hand on the doorknob. "I did!" Connor said. "And there's no going back!" I glared at him. "I'm gonna get you back for this," I warned. Connor suddenly looked sick. I twisted the doorknob and pulled it open.
"Hey," I said. There, standing on the porch was Katie Gardner, glaring at me with her arms folded.
"What do you want?"
