Chapter 18 (Why are you here?)

Y/n stood frozen at the doorway, her heart racing. She blinked a few times, unable to process what she was seeing. Her parents, who had sent her away without a second thought, were standing right in front of her.

"Mom? Dad?" she repeated, her voice trembling.

Her mother stepped forward, her eyes filled with a mixture of guilt and relief. "Y/n, we...we needed to see you. Can we come in?"

For a moment, Y/n didn't move, still reeling from the shock. Finally, she stepped aside, allowing her parents to enter. As they walked into the apartment, she noticed the curious glances of her soulmates. Namjoon, Jimin, Jungkook, and the others were all present, their expressions a mix of concern and curiosity.

Once inside, her father spoke up, his voice hesitant. "Y/n, we owe you an apology. We were wrong to send you away like that. We were scared and didn't understand what was happening."

Y/n felt a surge of conflicting emotions. Part of her wanted to hug them and forgive them instantly, but another part of her still hurt from their rejection.

Jungkook stepped forward, sensing her inner turmoil. "Maybe we should give you some space to talk," he suggested gently.

Y/n nodded, grateful for his understanding. Her soulmates quietly left the room, giving her the privacy she needed.

She turned back to her parents, taking a deep breath. "Why now? Why did you come here after all this time?"

Her mother looked down, tears welling up in her eyes. "We realized how much we hurt you. We love you, Y/n, and we were wrong to let our fear drive you away. We've been trying to understand this...soulmate thing. We spoke to some people who explained it better."

Her father nodded. "We're sorry, Y/n. Truly. We want to make things right, if you'll let us."

Y/n felt a tear slide down her cheek. She had longed for this moment, for their acceptance and understanding. But she also knew that trust had to be rebuilt.

"I appreciate that you're here," she said slowly. "But it's not going to be easy to just forget everything that happened."

Her mother reached out, taking her hand. "We understand, and we're willing to do whatever it takes to earn your trust back."

There was a long silence as Y/n processed their words. Finally, she nodded. "Okay. Let's take it one step at a time."

Her parents looked visibly relieved. "Thank you, Y/n," her father said softly.

The door to the hallway opened, and Namjoon peeked in. "Everything okay?"

Y/n turned to him and smiled weakly. "Yeah, I think so."

He walked over to her, placing a reassuring hand on her shoulder. "We're here for you, no matter what."

Y/n looked at her parents and then back at Namjoon. She knew she had a long road ahead of her, but she also knew she wasn't alone. With the support of her soulmates, she felt stronger and more capable of facing whatever came next.

Later that evening, Y/n sat down with her soulmates to talk about what had happened. They gathered in the living room, the atmosphere calm but serious.

"I never expected them to show up like that," Y/n admitted. "I'm still trying to wrap my head around it."

Jin nodded. "It's a big step for them to come all this way and apologize. It shows they care."

Yoongi added, "Trust takes time to rebuild, but you have us with you every step of the way."

Y/n felt a surge of gratitude for her soulmates. "Thank you all. I don't know what I would do without you."

"We're a team," Hoseok said with a smile. "And we're here to support you, no matter what."

---

After the emotional day with her parents, Y/n felt a mixture of relief and exhaustion. Seeking some comfort, she stepped out onto the balcony for a moment of solitude. The night air was cool and refreshing, carrying the faint scent of flowers from the garden below. She leaned against the railing, gazing at the stars scattered across the inky sky.

Soft footsteps approached, and she turned to see Jungkook walking towards her. His eyes were warm and filled with concern. "Hey," he said gently, slipping his arm around her waist. "How are you holding up?"

Y/n leaned into him, finding solace in his presence. "It's been a lot to take in," she admitted, her voice barely above a whisper. "But having you all here makes it easier."

Jungkook tightened his hold on her, his hand moving in soothing circles on her back. "We're here for you, always," he murmured. "You don't have to go through this alone."

They stood like that for a while, wrapped in each other's embrace. The world felt far away, and in that moment, it was just the two of them. Jungkook tilted her chin up, his gaze locking onto hers. "Y/n, I want you to know something," he said, his voice filled with earnestness. "You're incredibly strong, and I admire you more than you know."

A blush crept up her cheeks at his words. "Thank you, Jungkook," she replied, her heart swelling with affection. "You mean so much to me."

He smiled, a soft, tender smile that made her heart flutter. "And you mean everything to me," he said, his voice barely a whisper.

Slowly, he leaned in, and their lips met in a gentle kiss. It was a kiss filled with unspoken promises and deep emotions, a connection that went beyond words. In that moment, under the canopy of stars, they shared a piece of their souls with each other.

When they finally pulled away, Y/n rested her forehead against his. "I'm so grateful to have you," she said softly.

Jungkook brushed a strand of hair from her face, his eyes shining with love. "And I'm grateful for you, Y/n. Together, we can face anything."
