Chapter Ten
Will abhorred geometry. He could deal with physics and US history; they covered some interesting topics about the world. Besides, he liked history.
But geometry? He saw no fucking point. Never in his life would he use y=mx+b or x=-b±√b^2-4ac/2a or a^2+b^2=c^2. Why did he need to know the missing side of the triangle?
Alas, he had to, as the US of A made a shitty education system.
"Then," Mrs. Dodds said, continuing the long lesson about constructions. "You keep the width of the compass, and you bring it to point B. Make a small curve, then make your line."
That was the seventh time she'd gone over how to use a damn compass.
Will crafted and measured the 72º angle of the scalene triangle.
"The homework is the last five pages of the worksheet. Due tomorrow. If you have any questions now is the time to ask. You have ten minutes before the bell rings, make it count. Also, I know if you used the compass or not, so don't even try," Mrs. Dodds growled.
Will sighed and quickly did the first two pages of angle constructions before the painful high-pitched bell rang.
Three pages of geometry, thirty vocabulary words, a labeled graph of the abdomen (from the front), another nineteen vocabulary words, and a man of shapes. All of which due tomorrow and/or the day after. Not to mention the PowerPoint due in two weeks, the pacer test tomorrow, and the inevitable mythology project. Along with his father's musical and Will's inability to be okay, he dubbed his life a living hell.
All you need to do is get through mythology. Then, during the tech meeting, you do a solid half of the load.
Will threw his binder in his locker. It was only one more class.
Will closed his locker and speed-walked to mythology. He always found it odd that no one would bother him when he would walk faster, but everyone wanted to talk to him when he was on his phone.
He gave a small smile as he sat down next to the window. The one thing teens say to do when they don't want to socialize always backfired—the wonders of high school.
His thoughts dissolved as he looked at his wrist—a black guitar. There were so many people he knew that played guitar. In his family alone, he could name about twenty off the top of his head. Not to mention the failed guitar program or people who take guitar lessons around the globe.
Will pulled his jacket sleeve up to cover the black embedded in his skin.
Why don't you focus on something else, Will? Why not that piece of paper you took from Chiron?
For once, his body listened, and he got a few details on the project. It was on Olympian feuds. The project lasted throughout the remainder of the quarter.
It made sense. If you took two random gods from a hat, they've had at least five feuds in the past.
"Good afternoon, everyone." Chiron smiled. "As you can see, you have a project due at the end of the quarter. But, there is a twist." His eyes had the familiar twinkle he always had when he surprised his students. "It's going to be with partners."
The class started looking around, meeting the eyes of friends. Others just looked down.
"Assigned partners."
Well, that's nice. Expressly because you don't have any friends! said a tormenting voice in his head.
Shut up.
"If you go to the last page, you will find the pairings. By the end of the quarter, you should have some sort of project about Olympians and their various scuffles. I don't particularly care about what kind of project you make. Last year, someone made a puppet show. I still have the set on my shelf. Other people created a Minecraft world with some sort of storyline. Another group made a vine compilation. As long as it makes sense, it is a valid project. And, no you do not need to present it. Unless you make a puppet show."
Will flipped to the last page of the little booklet.
Alex Fierro and Sadie Kane
Annabeth Chase and Grover Underwood
Hazel Levesque and Calypso Nightshade
Percy Jackson and Leo Valdez
Will Solace and Nico di Angelo
Will squinted at the name. "Who the fuck is that?"
"That would be me."
Will turned to see the familiar face of Nico di Angelo. When the booklet said "Nico," he didn't expect it to be the same Nico who left Will's jaw on the floor.
"Will, right?" Nico asked.
"Yes."
Nico nodded, causing his black hair to fall into his eyes. "Great, now let's do the thing where we act like we've known each other all our lives while we do this project, then when it's over we never speak to each other again."
"Sounds great."
Okay...
so if you guys didn't know, I am disappointed to be an American for at least I hope I am freeeeee
So, lets talk about what is going on over here in the US of A!
Fuck Donald Trump.
He literally said "hey there white followers who would kill democrats without a second thought? You know what you should do? Protest and I encourage you to tell those FiLtHy DeMoCrAtS that the fight isn't over!"
so what did the murderous followers do? THEY FUCKING RIOT AT THE HOUSE AND SENATE SUCCESSFULLY KILLING SOMEONE
but yes the Chinese Communist party is America's biggest enemy. Totally not Trump.
AND TO MAKE MATTERS WORSE (yes it gets worse) THE ORANGE WAS NOT IMPEACHED
