•Vision•

LVIII. Vision.

My heart was pounding as I ran back home. There was a flutter in my chest when I saw the Mercedes parked in my driveway. I came to a stop, gasping when Alice came bouncing down the steps of the front porch. Her lips parted and her eyebrows furrowed when she saw me.

"Alice!" I called out as I walked towards her and she met me in the middle. My body slammed against her hard one, wrapping my arms around her as her arms wrapped around me. I broke down crying, tears running down my cheeks. Happy tears.

"You're... alive." She whispered and I closed my eyes at the angelic voice I hadn't heard in months. Her arms wrapped a little tighter around me for a second before she pulled me away at arm's length, her eyes drifting over me, as if checking if it was truly me.

"Oh my God, Alice." I whispered as I clutched onto her arms, sniffing as more tears rolled down my cheeks. "You're here." I said as the smallest smile tugged at my lips. I didn't even care that it was only her. I was hurt that he wasn't here, but I was content with having just Alice for now. Maybe this was the first step to things going back to normal again.

Alice continued to stare at me in confusion, she looked extremely upset. "I heard voices - I didn't think it was you but -" She ranted on as her eyes darted around and my eyebrows furrowed in confusion at what she was going on about. Her eyes returned to me. "You're alive." She whispered.

My eyebrows furrowed even more and my head pulled back. "You keep saying that like you're surprised." I muttered in confusion as my head tilted to the side.

"I saw you - a vision of you - you jumped off a cliff." She whispered as her head also tilted to the side. She looked hurt at the mere thought of her vision, slightly flinching at the memories. "I knew I'd be too late but -" She ranted as she shook her head before turning to me with a pointed look. "Why the hell would you try to kill yourself?!" She asked, genuinely angry with me.

My eyes widened and my lips parted, not used tot his side of Alice. She thought I tried to kill myself and she was furious with me. I vigorously shook my head as my eyebrows furrowed. "I wasn't, I slipped." I explained and Alice let out a soft sigh of relief before pulling me back into her arms.

I could hear her sniff at my clothes after a second of holding me in her arms. She pulled away at arm's length again, her face scrunched up in disgust. "What is that hideous wet dog smell?" She asked softly as she stared at me

I raised my eyebrows as she stared at me with squinted eyes. I immediately knew who she was referring to when she mentioned dog. I assumed the wolves smelled as bad to the Cullens as the Cullens smelled to the wolves. "I will assume you mean Jacob." I muttered softly.

Alice's eyes widened as she let go of me and took a step back. "Ana, do not tell me you are friends with a werewolf." She spoke in stern-like voice as she shook her head. She quirked an eyebrow, giving me a questioning look as she waited for my reply.

"Okay, I won't tell you." I replied softly as I shook my head and pursed my lips while staring at her, clasping my hands together in front of me.

Her eyes widened even more. "Are you?" She asked in disbelief as she stared at me with a mixture of shock and disappointment for my new life choices.

"You just said not to tell you." I replied as I shrugged my shoulders and shook my head once again, diverting my eyes down to the ground beneath my feet, pulling my lips into a guilty tight lipped smile.

"Your friends with a vicious animal?" Alice asked me in a low voice as she raised her eyebrows, her lips parting as even more shock, disbelief and disappointment crossed her face.

I took a deep breath as I crossed my arms over my chest. Like it wasn't exhausting enough to defend the Cullens from the pack and now I had to defend the pack from a Cullen. "Werewolves are not vicious." I insisted as I shook my head. At least not the one I hanged out with.

"Until they lose their tempers." She sharply argued with me as her head tilted to the side and her jaw tightly clenched as she gritted her teeth together.

I sighed as I vigorously shook my head at her. "They saved me from Laurent, they're protecting me from Victoria -" I ranted on, protecting the pack against Alice but at the mere mention of Victoria, Alice's eyes widened again.

"Victoria?" She repeated as she raised her eyebrows and I tightly pursed my lips and nodded my head in confirmation. "I didn't see her." She whispered, her eyebrows furrowing as she shook her head. Her gaze darted around for a second before turning back to me. "I didn't see you get pulled from the water either." She added softly, completely confused by the sudden blind spot I her vision. "I only saw a flash of you on the edge of the cliff and then you in the water." She explained.

My eyebrows also furrowed, also confused by the blind spots in her visions. But something inside me felt so relief and thankful to know she was still watching out for me. But how couldn't she see Victoria? "She's the reason I slipped." I informed Alice and her face went back to a look of horror. "It was Jacob who saved me. More than once. I couldn't have made it without him." I insisted as I shook my head.I silently stared at her for a second before lowering my gaze. "You have no idea what it has been like." I whispered.

Alice slightly flinched at my last sentence and lowered her head. "Yes, I do." She argued softly and my face fell, realizing Alice probably saw what I was going through. But she could only watch, nothing more. "I knew leaving wouldn't be good for you. I tried to tell Edward, but he wouldn't listen." She explained as she shook her head.

The mention of his name made my eyebrows furrow and my lips ever so slightly pout out. "Does he know you're here?" I asked her softly as I stared down at the ground.

Alice was silent for a second before sighing softly. "No." She admitted softly and I glanced up at her as she shook her head. "He's been... away..." She explained softly as she pursed her lips.

I scoffed softly. "Of course he has." I muttered as I fought back a roll of my eyes and I crossed my arms over my chest. Alice gave me an apologetic look with a small smile of pity on her lips. I invited her into the house and we sat together in the living room as Alice filled me on everything since they left Forks.

They had gone to New York, of all places, where they mostly had a night life. They hadn't seen Edward since they left here, but knew he was in Rio de Janeiro. Alice didn't go into much detail on Edward but she did mention that he was in just as bad shape as I had been these past few months.

She hadn't informed Edward about her vision, she didn't want to upset him before she had all the facts. The rest of the Cullen's knew and they decided it was best if only one came to see what was going on. They didn't want to attract too much attention to themselves by showing up right after I turned up supposedly dead.

The second Alice saw me on the edge of a cliff and then in the water, she rushed to come here. She was a mess the whole flight and drive here, ridden with worry and quilt for my well being. She blamed Edward, her self and her family for my supposed suicide.

In return I told Alice about Laurent showing up in the meadow on Victoria's request. I didn't give her too much detail but for some reason Alice didn't see any of this going down. She had no idea about either of the vampire's return.

An hour or so of talking to Alice, my mother stepped through the front door. Her eyebrows furrowed in confusion when she saw Alice sitting on the couch. "Alice." she greeted as Alice stood up. "Hi."

"Eleanor." Alice greeted with a sweet smile as she stood up and hugged my mother, careful for no skin-on-skin contact. "Hello." She said as she pulled away, her smile remaining as she clasped her hands together in front of her. "It's nice to see you again."

"Are you guys back?" My mom asked curiously, her eyebrows still furrowed in confusion. She shot a quick glance in my direction and I could read the look in her eyes. She was worried what Edward's return would mean for me. Lucky for her, she didn't have to worry about that.

"No, just me." Alice replied as she shook her head. My mom shot me another look and I could read that one as well. What would that mean for me? "I wanted to come visit Ana." Alice explained as she glanced at me over her shoulder.

I mustered up a small smile as I nodded in agreement to Alice's statement. "Is it okay if she stays here for a few days?" I asked my mom as I raised my eyebrows. Alice had already agreed to stay a while longer. She had already traveled so far, she missed me and she didn't want to leave when Victoria was lurking around.

"Yeah of course." My mom agreed as she quickly nodded her head, offering Alice a sweet smile. "I'm gonna go get the spare bedroom set up for you." She told Alice who flashed her another sweet and thankful smile.

Thurdsday morning I was up early, knowing Alice was lingering around somewhere in the house. It was still a bit dark outside when I made my way downstairs and Alice followed after me. My mom was already up, having prepared breakfast for me and Alice.

"Morning girls." My mom called out with a soft smile as we entered the kitchen and I saw Alice eyeing the food with a strained look on her face. "I'm gonna go get ready, heading to the rez to help with funeral preparations. Charlie's picking me up soon." My mom informed me as she patted my arm before walking out of the kitchen.

I had told my mother I wouldn't attend the funeral or go with her to help with preperations, even if I didn't have school nor work today or tomorrow. I didn't know Harry that well. But as of recently, a new reason for why I wouldn't attend, had been added. I already knew probably everyone at the reservation was angry with me because I had chosen Alice above Jacob. I had allowed a vampire back into my life and into my house.

I couldn't bring myself to go help plan or go to the funeral, smelling like a vampire while everyone was most likely angry with me. These were their days of mourning and I couldn't disrespect them in this way or take that away from them in any sense.

Alice's eyebrows furrowed as she turned to look at me. "Who died?" She asked softly, her voice filled with confusion and curiosity.

I grabbed both plates of food and carried them towards the dinning room, Alice following behind me. With Edward, I had learned to eat for two, I'd do the same for Alice. "One of my mom's friends on the reservation." I informed her as I sat down at the table with the plates and she sat down next to me. "Harry Clearwater."

"I'm sorry." She replied softly, with sincerity in her voice. "What happened?" She asked softly as her head tilted to the side.

"Heart attack." I replied softly as I began eating the waffles with ice-cream that my mom had prepared.

Alice silently stared at me for a second, tightly pursing her lips and crossing her arms over her chest. After a second, her eyes squinted at me. "So you're hanging with wolves and jumping off cliffs now?" She asked me as she quirked an eyebrow. I could see in her eyes that she was absolutely not happy about either of those things.

"Oh, it's a lot more than that." I scoffed in bitter amusement as I gave her a tight lipped smile. "Build and rode a motorcycle." I told her as I nodded my head, taking another bite from my waffles."I also challenged one of the wolves, and snapped at my friend." I added as I shrugged my shoulders. I wouldn't inform her that I did most of these things to hear her brother's voice in my head.

Alice's face fell as she stared at me. She watched as tears slowly formed in my eyes and I clenched my jaw for a second. "Us leaving didn't do you any good, did it?" She asked softly as she stared at me with a sad look.

I scoffed softly as a tear slipped down my cheek and my eyes shot towards her. "That was never the point though, was it?" I asked softly, reaching up to wipe my tear away before diverting my eyes from her. "It wasn't for my safety, because here I am, in danger." I whispered as I motioned towards myself with my hands. "And it's the wolves protecting me." I added as my eyes returned to her. "It's Jacob who has gotten me back to being an actual person."

If Alice could cry, she would. Her eyes were sad, a frown tugging at her lips. She reached out and took one of my hands into hers. "I'm sorry." She whispered. I shook my head at her. She wasn't the source of my anger. Her brother was. He was the one who left me. He made them leave me.

"Okay Ana, I'm going." My mom called out as she came into the dinning room.

I got up from my chair and approached her. "Good luck." I said softly as I wrapped my arms around her and pulled her into a tight hug. "I love you." I whispered in her ear.

"I love you too." She whispered back, sniffing as she rubbed my back before pulling away. She waved goodbye to Alice before turning around and rushing out of the room and out of the house.

"You're not going?" Alice asked me as she stared at me, her eyebrows furrowing and her head tilting to the side.

I pursed my lips as I sat back down in my chair, letting out a soft sigh. "I'm not the most popular person on the werewolf rez right now." I muttered softly as I shrugged my shoulders. It seemed like my life was a mess now more than ever before. "I doubt I'm even wanted at the funeral."

"Because you're friends with me." Alice muttered knowingly as she looked at me and I gave her an apologetic look as I took another bite of my waffles. Alice was silent for a second as she thought about something silently for a while. "Huh. Didn't see them coming. Didn't see him pull you out of the water -maybe my visions are allergic to dogs." She suggested as she looked at me.

My eyebrows furrowed. She couldn't see when the pack was around? I guessed in this insane little life of mine, that would make sense. I watched as she suddenly tensed up and her eyes darted to the archway of the room. "Alice?" I called out softly to her. "Are you okay?"

"I can smell the mongrels." She gritted out as she looked off into the distance with a look of disgust on her face. I flinched at her words. I have been used to the pack using offensive names towards the Cullen family, and now it seemed Alice was going to be a force I need to get used to as well.

My eyebrows furrowed in confusion. "Jacob's on his way here?" I asked her. I thought he was angry with me, hated the Cullen's too much to be around one, and had a funeral to help plan.

"Yes." She confirmed as she nodded her head. "And he's not alone." She informed me as she shot up to her feet, a angry look plastered on her beautiful and delicate face.

"Are you okay?" I asked her cautiously as I also stood up and reached out to place a hand on her arm.

"I'm gonna go do some hunting." She informed me as she began walking around the table and out of the dinning room and I followed her as she made her way to the back door in the kitchen.

"Alice-" I called out to her, ready to protest. I wasn't going to kick Alice out of my house for Jacob's sake. He knew a Cullen was here, he shouldn't come here if he was going to be uncomfortable by their presence.

"Believe me, it's best if I'm not here, Ana." She told me as she opened the sliding door before glancing at me over her shoulder. "But I'll be close." She assured with a nod of her head before disappearing into the woods.

Just then there was a knock at my door and I let out a soft sigh. I had a feeling deep in my chest that this conversation would not be going good. I just prayed Paul wasn't here as well. I'd gladly let Alice rip him apart.
