Love

P.o.V. Sans
Almost immediately after those brats finished talking, I watched the last bit of Cherry disappear from the figure in front of me. She was replace by a copied image of Chara, vines curled around them like armor.

They cackled and threw the knife in the air, catching it easily. "Finally, that soulless bitch gave up on her last hope. It was about time too, I was getting bored."

Frisk was in tears by my side. "Cherry no! You can't give up! We need you here! We-"

I threw a hand in front of Frisk, silencing him. He looked at me with tearful eye. "Sans, what-"

"Come on kid, stop it with the waterworks. We need to beat the living hell outta this little shit so we can get our slice of heaven back."

Frisk looked confused for a moment, before realizing my words. "But Sans how are we gonna save Cherry? She... She gave up."

I sent him a look then looked to the others. "Then let's give her some hope."

P.o.V. Cherry
I wailed with tears as Chara launched towards my friends with her blade. Flowey aided her, swinging at them with thorny or poisonous vines. I was useless to help them... Just like always.

'Cherry, come on...'

My head snapped up at the words. They weren't from Chara's harsh mouth but they were familiar.

'You put the kid in tears, you can't just leave us like this. It's tearing us up from the inside.'

I sniffled. An echo of a groan rang quietly.

'Cherry you still owe me a story. You've never broken a promise to me... Never.'

'I SHALL NOT ABANDON YOU CHERRY! WE STILL HAVE NOT BEEN ON A DATE, AND THERE ARE STILL MANY BEST FRIEND THINGS WE NEED TO DO!'

'Child, be strong. We are here, waiting for you.'

A tear blazed a trail over my cheek. My friends were still calling for me, even if I couldn't help them. It was stupid. Even if I wanted to come back...

"I Don't kNow hOw!" I yelled into nothingness.

More tears stained my cheeks. I felt like I needed to help, but I can't. I don't know how. I can't help the only people I care about. It wasn't even care anymore, it was more than that. I didn't know what it was and it killed me.

Whimpers turned into screaming as frustration pulled me into rage. They kept calling to me.

'Come on kid! Toughen up and punch your way out!'

'We're waiting for you out here darling, don't make us wait too long.'

'C-Cherry, we s-still have a-anime to watch together.'

Rage filled my veins and my last scream tore my throat to a point of no return. I could almost taste the blood.

"i CaN'T!"

I shook violently as the noise stopped. The images in front of me still moved but it was like there was a mute over them. My whimpering sobs cut through the air. The chains that pulled me down seemed to go slack and I pulled my hands to my eyes as I sobbed.

"I want to... But I can't." I whispered.

A hand fell against my shoulder and I looked up. Gaster smiled down at me, offering his hand.

Child, why do you cry instead of trying?

My shoulders shook. "Because I can't help, I don't know how." I rasped.

Why is it that you don't know?

"I didn't plan for this to happen. I thought I had longer... I thought-"

You thought what Cherry? As you said, you did not plan for this... You couldn't not have... This has never happened before.

My gaze raised to meet Gaster's. "I-It hasn't happened. But what do I-I do?" I asked.

He grinned at me and held his hand out farther.

You must get up and act. He said finally.

I took his hand and stood, a wave of something ripping through me as I stood. Four options appeared in front of me, just as they had several times before, and I looked over at them. They seemed to glow more than usual. Another wave of the uplifting feeling and it seemed the air was knocked out of me.

My vision momentarily blacked out as something fell out of my chest. Blinking away the spots, I refocused on the new appearance. In front of my, a heart rotated quietly. It looked as fragile as glass and colors moved over it in waves. I reached out to touch it.

As soon as my hand made contact, I felt my limbs at my disposal. The images that played in front of me came from my own eyes and the options were in front of me.

[Attack] [•Act] [Item] [Spare]

[Cower] [Cry out] [Give in]
...
[•Take Control]

I took control over my body, though weakly. The blade in my hand stopped inches from the target, Papyrus. A few feet away I saw a pile of ashes and my throat closed up. The purple dress around it twisted my heart in a way I hated. I had killed Toriel. Papyrus' arm was raised in defense. He lowered it slowly and saw my weak expression.

"Cherry?" He asked feebly.

I tried to nod but I felt Chara trying to claw their way back. "You bitch! How... How did you do it?!" The voice still spilled over my lips but I smirked.

"I had some friends to help." I said, my voice now my own.

I turned around and located Flowey. He was cackling evilly as he swept vines at monsters. I teleported behind him and grabbed him by the stem.

"Come on ya daisy-ass bastard. I'm ending this." I hissed next to his face.

"Cherry!" Sans called.

I looked at him briefly and smiled, quickly turning into a grimace as Chara took more control. "I'm sorry Sans!" I called out as I began to teleport. Teleporting a fighting spirit and angry flower took longer than you would think.

We were almost out when I felt Sans latch a hand on to me. He fell through the teleport with me and the others. Heat rose all around us. Hotlands. Chara took my left arm and clawed at the ground as I lifted my aching body. The blade was firmly grasped in my right hand with Flowey.

Sans was on the ground, dazed. It made my job considerably easier. "You idiot! You'll kill all three of us!" Chara hissed.

"Shut it." I snapped, limping towards the edge of the cliff.

Sans looked towards me and his eye sockets grew larger. "Cherry stop!"

I glanced at him and then screamed as Chara performed an extremely harsh attack with the one arm she could control. My feet teetered at the cliff, my body waving. Flowey wiggled in my iron grasp and I smiled. Blood filled my mouth and I looked at Sans. "Tell everyone Sans..." I said quietly.

"Cherry don't, please!" He said, blue tears trickling down his bone face.

"Tell everyone, finally... Tell them I love them." I said. "Truly love."

My soul floated away from my body, landing inches from Sans grasp. "I love you Sans." I squeaked.

My heels fell back and gravity gripped me ravenously. The knife was in my grasp and Flowey was screaming in fear. Chara tried to activate my powers but I locked them away firmly. My heart was pounding in fear and tears poured from my eyes like streams but a smile blessed my face. Sobs wracked me as I called out, "THANK YOU FOR FINDING MY LOVE!!!" I sobbed.

As the lava neared I could see images of my life, but now with love and fear. I relived my childhood in seconds, knowing now how much I cared for my parents. I watched as my life turned to hell in a matter of days after their deaths. My childhood became rough and I felt the fear of not knowing what happened next. I felt my passion for my few escapes I had. I felt fear as the bullies pushed me down the hole. It now occurred to me how funny it was to have bullies at such an age. My adventure in the Underground unfolded in front of me. I watched as I met Grillby in Snowdin.

Then broke into Sans house. It seemed to be going faster.

Spying on the skeletons.
Meeting Frisk.
The lab.
The interview.
Gaster.
Running away.
The story.
Finding my beloved Blasters.
Rediscovering my home in Snowdin.
The interview with Sans.
Eating with him at Grillby's.
Sans' stupid puns.
His teasing.
The way he looked at me when I talked about my dreams. It occurred to me now how much I loved Sans. It was ironic how I once hated him.

Moments before I hit the lava, I could see Sans reaching over the cliff uselessly, tears still staining his face. My heart yearned to be with him but it was too late. Heat kissed my back, immediately burning my nerves to the point I felt pain for only mere seconds. The knife melted in my hands and Flowey was gone first. I could hear Chara screaming but I still smiled weakly.

Even after Toriel died, even when the knife was inches from Paps skull, I still hoped for Cherry to come back. But I didn't want her back for this.

My limbs were too rocked by the sudden magic for me to go after her as she wobbled towards the cliff. Tears met my eyes and I cried out. "Cherry stop!" I yelled.

I tried to paralyze her but unknown forces silenced my magic. Cherry looked at me with tearful eyes. She screamed when Chara hurt her but that smile still spread over her face. "Tell everyone Sans..." She said quietly.

"Cherry don't, please!" I sobbed.

"Tell everyone, finally.... Tell them I love them. Truly love."

I couldn't speak as I watched a heart appear from her chest. It was like like a glass bubble, colors moving constantly and gracefully over the surface. "I love you Sans." She croaked in tears.

She fell backwards and disappeared over the edge. I crawled towards the edge, my bones still aching and sore. I looked over the edge and watched as her form continued to flicker until just meters above the lava. I saw only Cherry. Her beautifully messy red hair, sapphire like blue eyes, pale skin, smooth completion. She yelled, "THANK YOU ALL FOR FINDING MY LOVE!"

Then the lava swallowed her whole. I couldn't look as her body burst into flames and slowly turned to ashes. Flowey screamed and Chara used Cherry's throat to, but I never heard Cherry scream.

I yelled in rage, my hands balling into fists. My vision blurred with tears as I put my head against the ground. My memory tugged towards the soul and I sat up quickly, lifting the soul with magic so I wouldn't absorb it. It still moved beautifully and I choked back tears as I looked at it. In bright letters below it, it said

HP: 20/20
Cherry was filled with DETERMINATION.
