First Battle

Sans dropped me on my bottom and I yelped in pain. He gave me an apologetic smile and offered to help me up which I took greatfully. Mettaton flashed a picture and I growled.

"Mettaton will you stop! That's really unnecessary."

"But darling, the people want to know!" Mettaton said in an impatient tone.

"I don't care if they wanna know. I don't want them to. Just because Sans and I are friends now doesn't mean that we're dating."

"Cherry you were at each other's throats last I saw. To get that close after such a feud that you disappeared requires a lot of affection."

I rolled my eyes and buried my face in my palms. "Mettaton, we're friends and that's all." I said snappily.

"But darling-"

"Mettaton, I'm not trying to hide anything. I'm being infinity percent honest. There's more behind what you're looking into than you'd like to know." My tone was cold.

I pushed past him and walked through the front door. Mettaton had busted right through the frost so the door was open. "I'm going to Grillby's." Were my last words.

I trudged to the bar, my lack of clothing against the storm didn't bother me nearly as much as I would think. Must be a side effect of the injection. I opened the door to the bar and all eyes turned towards me. They watched as I walked past radiating annoyance. I plopped down at the bar and put my head against the smooth wood. I heard a warm laugh and looked up at my hot-headed friend.

"Hey Grillby." I said monotonely.

"You mad over the pictures?" He asked.

I shook my head. "No, they don't bother me. It's more Mettaton insisting we're a thing.... He broke into the house."

Grillby laughed and shook his head. "Do you want anything to drink?" He asked.

"What's the drinking age in the underground?" I asked hopefully.

"Hot chocolate it is." He responded.

I went back to moping in my seat, trying hard not to snap at the eyes on me. The warm mug soon sat next to me with a small dish of whipped cream and marshmallows. I smiled at Grillby and dumped the entire dish of sweets onto the contents of my mug. "Thanks Grillby. You always got the good stuff."

"You're welcome Cherry. This one's on the house."

I nodded and sipped gingerly at the steaming cup. The warmth seemed to relax me. I sat up and took another sip, a grin spreading over my face. A small tug on my sweater later and I looked down at a small dino like monster, not like Alphys in the sense of his missing arms though.

"Hi! Are you Cherry?" He asked.

I nodded and looked at him in confusion. "Who's asking?"

"I'm like your number one fan!" He said excitedly and leaned down, coming back up with a paper and pen. He propelled himself on to a bar stool and set them down. "Can I have your autograph?"

I laughed. "You're my fan? What did I do to deserve such attention?"

"Are you kidding? You're almost as cool as Undyne! You were on Mettaton's show! Remember? And even when you were getting all that crap from your bullies you kept laughing. That's super cool! And then you went viral when you suddenly disappeared!"

I sighed and patted his head. "That's just being a normal person."

He shook his head. "It's not just what you did! You're a really cool person! You're so confident and humble! And mysterious! You disappeared for like half a month and and back with a really cool looking eye!"

My hand lifted slightly to my eye, forgetting it had changed. "Oh, I forgot." I chuckled. "Do you really want my autograph? All I did was an interview."

"Yes! Please!"

I snickered and picked up a pen and the pad of paper. Working quickly, I sketched a cartoony image of me hugging the monster child and wrote next to it, 'To my newest friend -Cherry Saken.'

He took the paper with a childish squeak and ran out. I giggled and turned back to my hot chocolate. Grillby grinned at me and gave me a pat on the back. "Feeling better?" He asked.

I nodded and quickly finished the mug off. "Well, I'm done. I should probably be getting back now."

"The skelebros' house?" He asked.

I nodded and left swiftly. As I walked through the progressively deeper snow, I felt a thin vine wrap around my leg. Turning, I found my small floral friend, his expression slightly sour. "Flowey? Are you alright? You look upset."

He sighed and tugged on my ankle. "Can we talk away from the snow? It's a bit too cold here."

I nodded and lifted the bloom from the snow, taking him to the river man's boat. "To Waterfall please."

He mumbled as we lifted off and I set Flowey down. "What's up?" I asked.

"You went and got a soul without me. What about our pact?" He said with annoyance in his tone.

My brows knit and I looked at Flowey. "What do you mean Flowey?"

"We had an agreement. We were gonna get outta here and find souls for both of us."

"Flowey, we still are." I snickered.

"How are you so stupid?! You clearly have a soul! I heard all of your rant when you were on the phone with Papyrus. You told me you didn't have fear and you were terrified. You got your emotions you were missing."

I shook my head. "No Flowey, I went with Gaster. An injection gave me fear, not collecting a soul."

Flowey turned his head away. "You broke the deal, and it means only one thing."

I was beyond confused. "Flowey, what're you talking about?" I asked.

When he turned back, a malicious grin painted his small face. "I'll have to move forward."

Thick vines curled around my limbs and I was paralyzed. "Flowey, what are you doing?!"

The river man turned in surprise only to be knocked into the river. "Flowey stop! You're hurting people!"

He cackled. "Wow, you're so stupid! Don't you remember what I told you when you got here? In the Underground, it's kill or be killed."

Vines tightened and I cried out. His vines were tipped in thorns. My blood trickled from my wrist and the color drained from my surrounding. A bar appeared next to my head with the letters HP next to it and a number: 18/20.

"Flowey stop!" I screamed!

Four options were listed in front of me, unsure of what to do, I select an option called attack. A blade of black smoke appeared my hand and I cut the vines holding me. Flowey growled at me. "Cherry just stop. It'll make you suffer so much less."

As I was about to attack, I heard another cry. I looked back and saw the river man bobbing in the harsh current. "Help!" He called.

I glanced at Flowey and dropped my blade, the Act button glowing this time. Cold water met my skin as I dove into the water and took hold of the river man. "Hold on to me." I said.

I looked around for something safe to land on. However, my eyes and ears only met the water branching off towards one of the waterfalls. The riverman panicked. A vine swept towards us and I dove under, taking my friend with me.

The phone in my pocket rung and I struggled not to laugh. Alphys made one resilient phone. A plan coming to mind, I grabbed the phone and put it on my ear. "Don't care who it is. At the waterfalls. About to take the plunge, one innocent in danger and Flowey's pulling out his weapons."

I was cut off as a vine swept me into the side of the tunnel. A swell of anger and hurt poisoned my veins and I felt something snap. "You bastard!" I screamed as I pushed off the wall towards the root of the weed.

The riverman had his hands clinging to the wall, an indent I left giving him enough leverage to slow the journey towards the waterfall. Flowey growled at me and sent an array of sharpened pellets at me. Dodging most of them swiftly, darkness consumed my left eye for moments before I felt power surge through me.

As he tried to sweep me in another attack, bones lined in red created a barrier to protect me. I thrust my hand out in front of me and red lit up the surface below Flowey. Pointed bones sliced upward and the blossom cried out.

"You little brat! I was trying to be merciful because you were like me... But you've taken the hard way."

I snorted. "Try and touch me, I'll rip you into shreds so small you'll only be good for fertilizer."

His pellets shot at me and I froze as many as I could with my magic. Black fields encased the seeds and I shot them back at the flower. His health was lower than low. As I prepared my last blow, I heard a howl of fear.

I looked back and the man had fallen. Glancing at Flowey, I growled and shoved my fist at him, two red rays accompanying my motion. I looked and to my left and right were demonic skulls, black in color and with eyes like fire. They disappeared and I turned away from the fight. I neared the river man and gripped his arm tightly.

"God, I pray this worked."

We fell over the edge of the water. Gravity pulled us heavily down the large distance, no one stood at the bottom, not to my surprise however. There were many waterfalls, even if someone I knew was on the phone they'd have many waterfalls to check.

I pulled the person into my chest tightly and closed my eyes. With every fiber I prayed for something to break our fall, or for something to catch us. Then it happened, my idea.

I released one arm and imagined the two skulls from earlier. Swiping my arm, once, it didn't work. I repeated the act several times, trying to remember how they looked. The sharp edges of their faces and red eyes glared in my hand and I felt a wave pulse through me. A singular skull appeared below us, floating peacefully. I placed myself so I was under the flailing riverman and crashed on to the skull.

It seemed alarmed by the sudden passengers, but didn't seem bothered by my presence. A sigh of relief was released from my mouth and I pulled the stranger into a better seat on the creature.

"Don't worry, I'm bringing us down." I said to him and grinned.

"TRA LA LALLELUJAH! YOU SAVED ME! But my boat..."

I laughed. "I'll find your boat when you're safe."

The skull floated lower and lower until we were only eight feet off the ground. I heard a quiet pop and Sans appeared from the corner of my eye. His expression was rugged and worried. I waved happily and pointed to the River man. Wait, River woman? Have I been addressing him- uh- her wrong?

"I got us outta there! Civilian is safe and I'm not too broken!"

My low HP flickered next to my head displaying a 3/20 HP. I waved it away and smiled innocently. The skull set us down and we climbed off. As I got off, it turned and licked my face like a dog would. "Hey!" I giggled, patting its head. "You're such a pretty skull! Aren't you?" I said in a babyish voice.

It seemed to grin and nuzzle me until I fell over. "Aw, I love you too."

Sans pulled me to my feet and stood in front of me, between the skull and me. "Cherry, where the hell did you find a wild Gaster Blaster? They're strictly lab-only creations."

I pushed passed him and leaned on the 'Glaster Blaster.' "He's not wild. He just kinda appeared for me."

I scratched its chin and laughed as it flipped 180 degrees like it was a dog. "So you're a Glaster Blaster huh? Oh that's such a mouth full. How about G.B. instead? Wait, no! I'll call you Geeby!"

It licked my face with a glowing red tongue and began to fizzle away. "Geeby?! Where are you going?"

I rubbed the saliva off my face and looked at the glowing liquid in disgust. As it faded, fatigue washed over me and I felt weak. I fell over and landed on my butt. "Shit, I'm tired."

Sans picked me up and rolled his eyes. "Didn't you fight any while you were away?" He asked cockily.

"No, that was my first fight ever since I got here." I pouted. "I thought I did good."

"Cherry, you were down to three HP. That's not a good thing." He nagged.

"So what? I got both of us out! Flowey got separated from us when we fell down the waterfall so we're all safe right now. By the way, where is the River man... Or woman?"

"That guy left a little bit after you landed. They looked sick."

I would have rolled my eyes if my stomach didn't growl and my chest ached. I definitely had a few broken ribs from the wall smashes and taking the fall. "You shouldn't have used so much untrained magic so fast Cherry, you could've ended up in a coma." He said.

I shrugged. "I might go into a coma still. It'll just be a FOOD coma."

I giggled at myself and relaxed. "Wow, you're strong for a bag of bones." I said laughing.

The logical half of my brain seemed to shut off as I felt tired. Sleep overcame me and I giggled until I was sound asleep.
