Confessions

Sans stood in front of me like a disappointed father. "Young lady, is there something you'd like to say?" He asked.

I shook my head and focused on a spot on the wall. Maybe if I focused enough, I could pull what Napstablook did and summon the cosmos. No such luck. We sat still for a long time, waiting for the other to give in. I coughed, breaking the silence. Sans looked at me more intensely and I challenged his gaze. He groaned and flopped on the couch next to me.

"Come on kid, just tell me you snuck in."

"Thanks but I choose life." I retorted.

Sans sighed and melted into the couch. "I ain't gonna fight ya. I already got confirmation it was you."

I groaned into my sweater and hid my face inside of it. The wool started to get heavy, the snow melting into it. Cold swept through me and I shivered.

"Can you turn on the heating?" I asked.

He shrugged. It took all my will not to cuss him out as he fell asleep instead. Frisk came by moments later and sat on the couch, curling into my side. He shivered from the cold and I giggled.

"Come here little nugget." I said.

Frisk gave me a questioning look but didn't object to getting closer. I wrapped an arm around his small body and laid my head against the arm of the couch. He fell asleep against me, still curled up in his sweater like I was. It didn't take long for my eyes to flutter shut.

When I opened my eyes, it was considerably warmer. I looked under my arm to find Frisk still snoozing against my hip and he had a blue jacket over him like a blanket. The young boy looked cute all curled up. A quiet giggle escaped my mouth. I moved slightly and felt fabric shift over my face. I looked up and saw a red scarf wrapped around my head. I smiled. It was nice to wake up in company sometimes.

I put my head down and tried to remain as still as possible so I didn't wake Frisk. It wasn't hard to stay still until I felt an increasing pain on my side. I looked at my side and saw Frisk head resting on the knife. As he slept, his head slipped towards the edge of it, digging the blade into my flesh. My sweater protected Frisk from injury but I didn't feel like dealing with a blade wound. Slowly, I moved to make the handle of the blade more visible. I grabbed it tenderly, Frisk stirring slightly as I moved the knife. Every time I moved more than a centimeter, Frisk stirred. It eventually occurred to me, the best choice was just to do it in one swift motion. I grabbed the hilt fully and pulled it from my waistband, a hiss escaping my lips as a long cut pierced my side.

Frisk moved his head and slowly woke up after hearing me and looked around. He saw the bloodied knife in my hand and gasped, launching up from his position. "I'll get help!" He said and jumped up from the couch.

"Frisk no!" I called after him to no avail. He darted to the two upper floor rooms and banged on the doors. This was the opposite of what I wanted to happen.

Sans was the first out of his room, his eyes locking on the bloodied knife in my hand. A growl ripped through him as his magic encased my body. Pain gripped my wrist and I hissed as I dropped the knife. Frisk ran to Sans trying to get him to release his hold but Sans was in a trance. Papyrus came out of his room and scanned the situation.

"Brother!" He called. "Put the human down! She's hurt!"

My eyes darted to the stinging in my side and I felt a tear blaze a trail down my cheek. Red grew on my sweater and I felt surprised. It hadn't occurred to me the cut was deep, I had only been worried about keeping Frisk from waking the others.

I didn't say anything, but I watched as Sans' expression softened and his eyes followed the blade and then to my side.
"Oh-"

I felt his magic leave my form and the full effect of the cut washed over me. A searing pain ate at my side, filling me with confusion.

"Why is it so deep? I barely let the blade touch me." I muttered, pressing against my injury.

Papyrus rushed down to my side. And looked at my cut. "Sans! She's bleeding, get the first aid kit!"

"Uh, Papyrus, we don't have a first aid kit. We're skeletons."

"Sans just teleport home and get one from Toriel." Frisk said.

"Oh, right. Be right back." I stuffed wads of my sweater around the cut and held pressure. My other hand reached for the knife, wanting to move it away from Frisk's young hands.

As I collected the blade , I saw my reflection, and a young child wearing a yellow and green sweater was grinning at me. My head whipped around and I saw nothing. Chills crept in my spine making me shiver. That only proved to put Papyrus in more of a panic.

I saw Sans reappear with a goat-lady and a plastic box. She rushed over to me and removed my hands from the wound. It almost seemed she was an expert, how she cared for it, like she had been taking care of cuts for a living. She pulled a stitch through it quickly, but securely and taped gauze over the cut. A sigh of relief escaped her lips.

"She'll definitely be okay, she kept pressure on the cut and used her sweater to soak up the blood."

Her eyes met mine and she grinned. "Hello, child, my name is Toriel."

I smiled back at her and attempted to sit up, quickly being pushed back down. "Hi, name's Cherry Saken."

Sans laughed. "You'll talk to her but you won't talk to me?"

I stuck my tongue out at him. "Toriel's a lot easier to talk to, rather than the skeleton who made me think he wanted to kill me."

Toriel shot Sans an astonished look. "You made her feel like you were going to kill her?!"

"N-No Tori! I mean, yes, I was mad. And yes seeing her in possession of Chara's knife put me on edge, but I wasn't ever gonna kill her!"

I winced as I put my head back down on the arm of the couch.

"Child," Toriel started, "What happened? How did you injure yourself so harshly?"

I itched the back of my head and laughed innocently. "Well, it was all an accident. Frisk and I were sleeping on the couch. Frisk had his head resting on my hip with my blade stored. So the edge of the blade was pressing into my skin. Frisk stirred every time I moved it more than an inch, so I had the genius idea of removing it in one swoop and cut myself. The only odd thing about it, was that it wasn't a deep cut. It was like an extended nick, but it deepened itself to a point I felt it worse and Frisk panicked."

Toriel shook her head and looked at me. "You must be more careful with knifes."

I snickered. "Well no duh."

I looked at my sweater and frowned. "Do y'all have a washer that currently functions?" I asked. Papyrus nodded and pointed to the kitchen. "It's in the kitchen, in an off room." He responded.

Toriel pulled a spare sweater and jacket from her bag. I looked at the yellow and green sweater, reminded of both the child's room and reflection I'd seen moments ago. The image still chilling me, I skipped the sweater and grabbed the hoodie. Toriel blocked me from view as I stripped away the blood soaked sweater and put on the black sweatshirt, funnily, also way too large and covering my shorts.

I wadded the sweater in a fist and tapped Toriel's shoulder, telling her I was fully clothed. She frowned at the discarded sweater but didn't bother mentioning it. I walked briskly through the kitchen and found the washer, throwing my sweater in and praying the stain came out.

I walked back into the living room, hands stuffed in my pockets, to see everyone seated around a newly appeared television.

"What's with the tv? You guys moving back in?" I asked.

Papyrus looked at me and grinned more widely than he already was. "For the time being, YES HUMAN!!!! THE GREAT PAPYRUS AND HIS SLIGHTLY LESS COOLER BROTHER SANS WILL BE STAYING IN THE UNDERGROUND!!!!"

My eyes drifted to Toriel and Frisk. "And you two?"

"We'll be returning to the Surface. Frisk's had several important things going on up on the surface."

I shrugged and ruffled Frisk's hair. "Welp, find me before you go and say goodbye."

I turned and started towards the door.

"Where do you think you're going?" Sans asked.

I pat my pockets dramatically and pretended to think, then dramatically threw my finger in the air and said "Oh yes, I'm forgetting."

I walked around the couch and leaned down so I could reach under it. I pulled out my blade and shoved it into my front pocket. "Now I'm off!"

As I opened the door, Sans appeared just behind it and forced it shut before I could leave. He talked to me in a low harsh voice, his one eye glowing but not bright enough for the others to see. "Cherry. Give me the knife." He said.

I shoved my hands in my pockets and shook my head. "How about no." I didn't attempt to be quiet or secretive. As I attempted to leave again, the door didn't budge. A faint blue encased the door and I growled in annoyance.

"Sans, let me leave. You're not my dad, my guardian, my boyfriend or any other kind of person to me that implies you can stop me." I snapped.

Sans laughed quietly and leaned against the door. "Sorry kid, but that knife is more dangerous than you think. It's got quite the history. And then there is the fact you were getting stitches ten minutes ago."

I shrugged. "A) The knife is mine now. Screw its history because the only thing that matters is what I use it for.
B) Cold numbs skin. Going out will just make the stitches hurt less.
C) You can't scare me with a glowing eye and some fancy voice work. Whether or not you mean your threats, I don't care."

I pushed past him and walked upstairs. He didn't realize my path until I closed his bedroom door behind me. As soon as the door closed, I darted to the glass door and ran out on to the balcony. I couldn't afford to take it slow. It didn't help that Sans caught on too fast.

I got on the railing and jumped to the porches roof, quickly dropping into the snow. Sans didn't follow me past that point. He could try teleporting again, but the current blizzard made it near impossible to see where I was, or the direction I was going. The perfect cover...

Before I got to far, I turned and looked into the house windows. Again, Frisk was the only one that noticed me. I grinned and performed the same shushing motion. I breathed hot air against the window and carved words. They only lasted seconds, but Frisk seemed to understand the meaning of my words.

Yeah, I was the one that broke in.

He giggled, knowing that the obvious words meant more than their obvious meaning.

My legs carried me more quickly than before, this time moving with the wind, not against it. I soon arrived at Grillby's and inhaled the warm air like it was a gift directly from God's hands. My seat was empty at the bar and I sat, listening to the chatter around me. I stuck a quarter in the jukebox, and selected a tune. Soon the sweet beginnings of Welcome to the Black Parade by My Chemical Romance filled the air.

I hummed along as I waited for Grillby to come talk to me. It didn't take long. I rested my head on the counter and let my eyes rest, then I found light casting a glow on my closed lids. Without my say, Grillby placed a burger in front of me and winked at me knowingly.

"Hey Grillby. I wanted to come by before I left."

"You're leaving? Didn't you just get back yesterday?" He asked.

I snickered. "Yeah, but I'm afraid ol' Blue Bones and I won't get along too well."

He laughed at my nickname for Sans. I ate the burger quickly and left a note saying On my Tab. See ya soon. -Cherry

I left quickly. I had drawn a little cartoony version of myself on the note I left. It made me remember my sketchbook back home. If the kids up there were stealing my stuff as their own, I was going to hurt someone. The thought made me snicker.

I have to admit, the thought was funny. Imagine; children killed for petty reasons like plagiarism. How funny....
